I ordered 4 jackets to compare. Alpinestars Core in 56, Alpinestars GP Plus R V3 in 56, Dianese Racing 3 in 56 and Dianese Fighter in 54. Since the jacket arms were too long, this was a huge issue. It had a Velcro closure instead of snaps on the Core. The Velcro really bothered my hand/wrist. If you can get the Core for the same price as the GP Plus R V3, I’d get the Core. The Alpinestars GP Plus R V3 is probably an excellent jacket, especially with the flexible armor, if it fits you well. Don’t pass it up if the Core isn’t around and you don’t mind the few cost saving details. This jacket doesn’t include a thermal liner, which isn’t ideal for Michigan.The Dianese Racing 3 (non-perf)…First thing I noticed was the smell. People aren’t lying when they say it smells really good. This jacket was comparable to the Alpinestars Core in build quality (albeit a bit better), but the sleeves are shorter and the arms/chest are much tighter. The Alpinestars jackets are a little roomier throughout the top of the jacket, but by no means loose. The Racing 3 was very tight when standing around in my living room, but felt much better once I was sitting on my bike in riding position. Again the arms were too long. However, Dianese runs shorter than any other brand. This was very close to fitting. I would have ordered this jacket in a “short”, but with Covid going on I didn’t want to wait the multiple months to get it. For the money, I was surprised the wasn’t a thermal liner. Also, according to their size chart, I should wear a 54 short or 56 long, so I was a bit hesitant to order a 54 short worrying that it would end up too tight. In summary, the build quality was in line with the price. The arms were shorter and the chest/shoulders were tighter than Alpinestars. Given the choice between this and the Alpinestars Core (if both fit exactly the same on me), I would go with whatever one looks better to you. I think they were both great.Finally, I returned the above 3 jackets and ordered the Dianese Fighter in a 54. There was no way I was going to get myself into a Racing 3 in a 54, and I read some reviews saying the cut on the Fighter was not quite as sporty/aggressive. This jacket fit me much better than the Fighter 3. The sleeves are still a touch long, but a length that I can live with. The elbow/forearm armor lines up much better on me than the 56 Fighter 3. It also is a touch looser through the shoulders and chest than the Fighter 3 in a 56. This jacket is a grade higher leather versus the Fighter 3. It also smells amazing. I kind of just like to leave it out and smell it. Don’t judge. I got this one in a perforated version because it came with a thermal liner. The thermal liner seems like it can be flipped inside out to wear as a jacket at first glance, but it can’t be. Unfortunately, the jacket does not have Velcro or snaps for wrist closures. I still have trouble putting my gauntlets on with this jacket, so I think I’ll use my zillacash to get some new short cuff gloves. This jacket had one loose thread when it showed up, but I don’t think it will be an issue. I think it is somewhat unfair to compare this jacket to the others because it is much more expensive, but if you have the same issues I did with fitment, you’ll be happy. If you don’t have fit issues, you’ll like any of the jackets I listed.

After much research I went with this newer model of the GP Plus R due to the updated design features for better flexibility, particularly with the Nucleon armor. This jacket has not disappointed and is an awesome fit. I'm 5'11" and 182 lbs, so went with the size 52 which is true to the size chart for height, chest and arm length. My waist measurement is a bit larger, and alone would have put me in the 54, but the 52 is not constricting, and is sliming so I might wear this around in town. The 54 would have likely been longer in the arm and uncomfortably roomier. My feedback here on fitting includes adding in the KR-2i back insert, which sits well in pocket and really doesn't feel like you are loosing space inside. I've worn this for about 100 miles on a Street Triple over several days of high humidity and heat in the low 90s, and at speed it has great airflow. My one wish would be for an inner lining to get into the colder weather, as I can tell the airflow will get chilly eventually, but likely managed with some thermal long-sleeves. Overall, this is a high quality jacket and I feel very secure in it on the road.

There is a little bit too much paneling under the arms but that is likely needed for movement and my guess is that manufacturers studied crashes to understand where we need more protection. Don't get me wrong - this is a leather jacket and the leather is superb. I like the new flexible inserts, which makes the jacket slightly thiner / fitter. However, notice that this jacket runs small - I normally buy jackets size 46 EUR / 36 US and had to go up to 50 EUR / 40 US on this jacket AND it is still pretty snug, but comfortable. To be clear you want the jacket to be snug if you actually need protection to minimize the risk of slippage and attrition between the jacket and your skin or under shirt. The Jacket looks great and is evidently high quality. Fits tight at first but breaks in nicely. Features some of the largest pockets I have seen on a street jacket which is definitely a plus, including a large waterproof breast pocket which holds my wallet, car keys and iPhone XS Max with much room to spare. The ability to zip up to riding pants is also a massive plus.I would give the jacket five stars however it does not include any sort of back protector out of the box. Not even a functionally useless hard foam insert, legitimately nothing. Both myself and my parts/accessory guy were kind of shocked. Overall I'm happy with the jacket, it's breaking in nicely and is comfortable. I added the back protector and it fit well and didn't change the way the jacket feels so that's a plus. Works decent down to about 45 degrees then I'd definitely recommend after sweatshirt underneath if it will fit, or get the non perforated jacket for colder weather but I found this to be a happy medium between the ride knit and standard leather. All in all I'd buy it again.
I got the one with red and white accents because I wanted protection and colors to be more visible. I was looking for a jacket with protection for cool weather. Unfortunately it lets air through the arm fabric. It's also real stiff and does not fit well. Arms are too long, elbows pad aligns with back of elbow so no protection if land on forearm, forearm is super long which is weird, the zippers at wrist tear up your wrist, its loose at wrist so lets air in, too tight around the chest, not sculpted for athletic build, the front zipper hurts your neck and digs into your adams apple when bent forward. The more I write the more unpleasant it is. Looks cool, but sucks.

Typical protection in the shoulders and elbows, only foam in the back and chest.There are two zippered chest vents, both are easily adjusted one handed when you're riding. Neither let in much air, so I would not recommend this for warm weather riding. There is a napoleon pocket that's water proof - which is a great addition for cell phone use. Two other hand pockets are typical, and not terribly deep.Sleeves are zipper closure with snaps. Not sure why the snaps are needed, I find them not needed. Sleeves are tight which keeps the draft out, but you aren't likely to get anything like a sweatshirt under this jacket. I found no drafts or air leakage when riding.Bottom line, the workmanship, and materials are first rate, it has nice features and looks great. It runs a bit small, and remember the thick leather makes this a pretty stiff jacket. Off the bike it's not as comfortable as on the bike, but on the bike is the only one that matters, this isn't a fashion jacket. Recommended if your needs are the same as mine.
Quite the comfortable jacket. I debated this version vs the v2 but am glad I chose v3. Solid breathability. Close yet comfortable fit that quickly breaks in to your body. True to sizing chart. Adjustable straps at the waist in case you add a few pounds around the waistline. The stretch material between the shoulders and arms makes for great mobility and this version of armor truly is designed with comfort in mind. Cant tell it’s there so very unobtrusive. Self locking zippers at the wrist feel solid and work as expected. I generally wear a long sleeved wicking shirt under and im comftable in 80+ degree weather. With a thermal base layer and long sleeve shirt, it’s warm enough down to about 45 degrees. Only thing it’s missing is a wind proof liner.I’d recommend it.
I recently purchased this jacket after searching for over a month for something to suit my needs. I already have a mesh and textile jacket but I didn't feel confident in their ability to hold up incase I come off the bike.Everything about this jacket is fantastic. The perforations allow ample airflow while you're riding so you don't feel stuffy. The velcro to hold the main zipper in place does its job and the waist adjustment straps helped make this fit like it was tailored for me. I'm 6'2 and 180lbs, I tried on 4 of these to find the right size which is a 46.It has two outside pockets which are surprisingly easy to access with gloves on. A waterproof pocket on the inside of the left breast and two more pockets/pouches as well. The optional add in back and chest protectors make it fit a little more snug but that peace of mind is worth it.If you're on the fence about this jacket, go ahead and add it to your cart. You won't regret it.
this thing is awesome, best leather jacket ive ever worn. airflow is superb (for a leather jacket) in the Florida heat and the fit is great. a lot of adjustability at the waist, waterproof zipper for your phone or anything of value, protection is there but cant really notice it while riding which is a good thing. my only gripe is the arms are a bit on the skinny side. i wear a 48 and fits perfect everywhere else minus the arms. nothing i cant manage though. but if your like me and have more of a athletic shaped body with slightly bigger biceps then id recommend goin up one size to be comfortable. overall extremely happy with this purchase.
