Surprisingly comfortable and quite maneuverable. These are my first boots intended for the track, so take my review with a boulder of salt. I had a difficult time riding with them at first, but that was due to my gear shifter position setup for my other riding footwear. I ended up raising the shifter and all my clunky foot position issues were resolved. So far, I'm enjoying the ease of putting them on. I personally leave the inside boot in when putting them on, and find that to be easier. I don't have huge calves, so I didn't have any issues with the zipper like others have mentioned. Overall I'm very pleased with them and I feel much more secure with my foot and ankle protection. I now daily ride with them. Comfort and feel wise they're the best boots I've ever ownded...except they're not crashable, which is kind of a necessity for track boots. The first time I low-sided at the track in these boots it instantly ripped through the leather so the inner bootie is exposed. Also since the zipper is on the outer side of the boot (rather than the back or inner like competitors) it's completely exposed in a low-side and the zipper track got destroyed/worn smooth so the zipper pull just falls off the zipper track now and I have no way to close the boot. Huge bummer that I spent $500 on boots that can't survive a single 40mph lowside.

Well where to begin?Ive had the SMX Plus Vented boots the last 4years in a size 47 (12.5) which were/are to big. I wear a 12-12.5 in most like Nike or Under Armor while a 13 in Puma. (Alpinestars and other brands are weired with their sizes)I bought the Supertech R finally and went with a 46/11.5 and the size is perfect. The inner boot is nice and comfortable and is not as bad to get into the outer shell as some others say. The bootie has great ankle and heel protection, the outer shell from ankle up (bootie out) is nice soft and flexable while the lower half is very sturdy with extra heel protection. Considering thats usually the area of most contact when sliding i find it reassuring. The Toe Slider actually being Alloy not plastic is Huge.I went down in them ... MoreWell where to begin?Ive had the SMX Plus Vented boots the last 4years in a size 47 (12.5) which were/are to big. I initially had an issue where the zipper clasp on the left boot broke. For the first test fit indoors, I had the zipper all the way up, and everything secured. As I started walking a few steps, the zipper popped and upon further inspection, one of the teeth toward the top were bent and the clasp bent too. I was able to send them into Alpinestars for a free warranty repair(although I had to initial shipping). I suspect the stitching from factory was just a tad tighter on that side, as the right boot had no issues. If you have big calves and "smaller feet", this can make the boot a tad on the tighter side. I measured my feet and initially ordered a size 45 as my feet are wider than normal. I measured my feet and initially ordered a size 45 as my feet are wider than normal. While it fit great in most places, I had too much toe room and my ankle could wobble with thin or thick socks. I downsized to a 44 and the length is perfect, but it does take a little bit of effort to pull the zippers up in comparison (I didn't manhandle it when the zipper broke though lol). For reference in bald eagle sizes, I wear a 9.5w in Rocky Coyote Brown boots, and usually a 11.5-12 in street shoes with plenty of toeroom, but upsize due to width.Other than that, the boot has been great. The two boot design while awkward to put on and take off, provides confidence in protection. Took about two rides for them to break in and the non-venting model has not been a problem for me on 2hr street rides in 90*+ Arkansas weather. They aren't uncomfortable to walk short distances in. Just wobbly due to the heel and foot design.I purchased these boots back when they were $499 msrp(now $599) and was able to take advantage of a promo and RPM cash, bringing them down to the $370 mark, a deal I couldn't pass up.I would say they are a bit overkill for street use. Unless you also plan on tracking or just have the extra funds, go with the SMX 6 V2's. Other reviews stated they are more user friendly in terms of taking on/off and walking around while still offering good protection
Note: Use the sizing chart on alpinestars website and actually measure your foot: your foot length should be in between the insole length and the comfort length listed on their chart. Other than dress shoes, pretty much all shoe sizes in the US are marked 1-2 sizes bigger than the actual size. All my casual shoes, hiking boots, sandals, etc. range from US 9.5-10.5 , but my dress shoes and European-made shoes are labeled size US 8/8.5 -- which is what my foot actual measures. This boot is meant to have a race fit; if you follow Revzilla's recommendation the boot will fit and be comfortable, but probably be too big. Do yourself a favor and take 5 minutes to put your foot on a piece of paper, draw lines, and measure so that you can get a proper fit on a $500 ... MoreNote: Use the sizing chart on alpinestars website and actually measure your foot: your foot length should be in between the insole length and the comfort length listed on their chart. Do yourself a favor and take 5 minutes to put your foot on a piece of paper, draw lines, and measure so that you can get a proper fit on a $500 boot.Thoughts on the boot:- Extremely comfortable and lightweight considering how big they are- Inner bootie lacing system makes it really quick and easy to get a nice secure fit- Inner bootie has a ton of very hard protection all over the foot while somehow still feeling like I'm wearing comfy slippers- A bit on the narrow side by design to help stop movement. They loosened up after wearing them for about 45 minutes and are fine now. You may have to size up if you have particularly wide feet or they never ease up for you- A bit kludgy to walk in because of the raised heel and very stiff sole, but still manageable enough that you should be able to walk around the paddocks or food stops easily enough.- Inner bootie system makes this boot take a bit to put on. I personally wouldn't want to deal with putting these on, taking them off, and then putting them back together for storage unless at the track or planning on riding for 2 hours+ on the street. The SMX Plus may be a better option if you only want to own 1 pair of boots and having something quicker to deal with would suite your riding habits better.- Airflow is great- These are definitely ultra-premium and it's obvious even to people who aren't in-the-know- The red is more of of bright red-orange then it appears in the pictures. It doesn't match the darker red from some of my other Alpinestars gear. It doesn't really bother me and they look freaking sweet, but if you're trying to be matchy-matchy with other gear (or a Ducati) and different shades would annoy you, you should consider going with the all black color way.Overall, I am very satisfied with these boots. Treat yourself...your feet are worth it! If you crash and injure your foot/hands the wrong way, expect to run up an $8,000+ medical bill if you want your hands/feet to ever work the same again. Even if you have insurance, common deductibles are $5000 and maybe $2500 if you have really good insurance...so even though these don't make you indestructible, spending a couple $100 extra to get the best protection consumers can buy vs mid-tier seems like a pretty logical choice to me.
So background. In Dainese. I wear a 41 euro. Perfect fit. After reading reviews. I dropped it down to a 40 when I ordered them. They were TIGHT! But that being said. As i continue to wear them, they get more and more comfortable. To the point where I forget to take them off when I am home. I love my Dainese boots. But these boots just make you feel extra protected. Yes its a process to put them on but if you are riding in full gear? you are already use to that. They are a little stiff at first making the shifts take more effort. But they do break in.I got the white and red(orange floral?) ? they POP! If you want to be seen. Then that is the choice to make.
The Alpinestars Supertech-R Motorcycle Boots you sent me are fantastic. I've been purchasing the Alpinestars Supertech Boots in their various guises since 1990 - generally buying a new pair every 5-10 years. However, so good are the 2015-2020 models that I've now bought two. The Black and Grey colour (or perhaps best described as black with silver) look glorious too ? very understated and smooth looking. The fit is great, better than the 2010 model and they are so very comfortable to ride with, and my feet feel very secure and protected. The footbed feels a little long in comparison with it's perfect width - and so I would likely reduce the length (fore and aft) by a matter of only mere millimetres - but, everyone's feet are different - and so, the shape it almost ... MoreThe Alpinestars Supertech-R Motorcycle Boots you sent me are fantastic. The concept of the inner-bootie is brilliant - and, for those who've never tried, I highly recommend (with the feeling of security around my feet so much more than normal boots with the inner-bootie). Although relatively expensive, I wouldn't ever ride with anything else - and, while wearing them, they make you feel positively special too.
ALways an amazing and comfortable boot. However, I feel that Alpinestars' quality is beginning to leave me longing. I'm on my 4th pair of Supertech R's over a span of over a decade. The first pair, purchased in 2009, absolutely stellar. I only changed them out after 5+ years because I changed my color scheme. The next three pairs, however, almost always have an issue with the inner booties. Usually threads start to come undone, and eventually the eyelets fail and have to be repaired... merely months into having them. I usually just take them to a local footwear repair shop and the problem is solved (This option is usually cheaper than shipping them back to Astars and having them do the repair). Previously had SMX 6?s and had to wear a 44, with these boots I got a 43 and they fit perfect. I normally wear a US 10/UK 9/EU 43/J 27.5. A* got the US sizing a bit wrong as the 43 shows a U.S. 9 which threw me off, but they are a J 27.5. I even considering trying a 42 but I know they would have been too narrow. I recommend measuring your foot length and referring to the Alpinestars sizing chart specific to these boots on their website (comfort sizing etc.). A lot of people I know seem to get shoes in general that are quite roomy (too big if you ask me). Motorcycle boots are not for posing and strutting through Starbucks; they should be tight to get the feeling when on the bike, and especially if you take them to the track; the last thing you need is a pair of clown ... MorePreviously had SMX 6?s and had to wear a 44, with these boots I got a 43 and they fit perfect. They let air flow nicely through your feet, have great feeling on the bike, and I?ve worn them all day with no problem.
Very nice boot but a bit much for me for non-track riding. Only do about 1 track day a year. It takes a bit to get into them, not terrible but a bit more than my old Sidi Vortices. The Sidi’s are still in reasonable shape, and probably not greatly less protective. I found the inside top collar did push into my leg a bit as well. They are sized well, despite a lot of information that they run too big. I got a 43, which is what I normally wear in euros sizes, and they were just right.
