So I purchased the Black Carbon edition and let me start off by saying that this helmet does NOT come with a race spoiler that is per Astars. They said the only two that will not have it included is the black carbon and the white edition. The Element and the other graphics will come with it. They will make the Race spoiler available and it'll be around that 20 something price point. I give this Race helmet 5 stars and this is why. First off the weight comparison to my HJC RPHA 1N is incredible the R10 weighs just right at 3lbs my HJC is closer to 3.8 to 4lbs yes after riding a full day with the R10 you can definitely feel the difference. Second the Ventilation is perfect talk about pulling all of the hot air right out of your helmet I'm constantly having a ... MoreSo I purchased the Black Carbon edition and let me start off by saying that this helmet does NOT come with a race spoiler that is per Astars. First off the weight comparison to my HJC RPHA 1N is incredible the R10 weighs just right at 3lbs my HJC is closer to 3.8 to 4lbs yes after riding a full day with the R10 you can definitely feel the difference. Second the Ventilation is perfect talk about pulling all of the hot air right out of your helmet I'm constantly having a tremendous amount of air flow in my face around my head so it's nice for sure not to mention I also wear a balaclava under my helmets so it helps with sliding the helmet on with ease and keeps your helmet staying fresh longer, highly recommend getting/using one. Second, the fact that Astars includes not just your standard clear shield but also a dark shield is amazing these shields are not cheap and you get both right out the gate, and even a pin lock is included aswell. That's nice not to mention you also get a better quality of a helmet bag compared to Shoei or Arai or even HJC. The Astars bag to store it away while your not riding is a quilted helmet bag, so just nicer quality overall. Third, that I want to point out is the quietness of this helmet is amazing however remember this is a race helmet so it's not the loudest helmet compared to a Pista, those are extremely loud again Race Helmet but I will say you can still use this on your cruiser on your naked bike and rest assured you are getting one of the safest helmets on the market at the moment. Fourth, is your price point compared to other helmets I'd buy this again if I needed another track helmet because that's what it initially was designed for compared to spending 1600+ on a AGV Pista RR you're still getting a better helmet. Last thing the size I usually wear a small in Arai or Shoei and HJC and AGV this helmet I did have to go up in a size but it fit like a glove and I could wear it all day with no pressure points towards my temples or even the crown of my head. Will say lastly that this helmet was tested while riding my liter bike at efficient speeds to be able to give this review a 5 star rating and yes I plan on buying two more in different livery for sure !

Waited for months to finally get this helmet and absolutely disappointed. For over a thousand dollars, you would expect quality to be better, cheek pads already wore out after 3 months, visor pops out of the mechanism constantly, side plates popped off the helmet, chin skirt is laughable, chin strap covers ripped, cloth on cheek pads have started fraying and aero isn't even close to an shoei x15 or an agv pista while comparable in price. Absolutely phenomenal looking helmet and not as loud as a pista but good luck contacting Alpinestars about it, I was ghosted after inquiring about warrantying several issues. Do yourself a favor and buy a corsair or an x-15 if you want a street/track helmet.

Great helmet! Make sure to take accurate measurements for your head, I used the same measurements I typically have for Shoei and it was a fine fit. A little tight at first but breaks in beautifully.Coming from a Shoei X-14 its a fantastically aerodynamic helmet, and flows so much air around your chin area it makes the lower half of my face cold with airflow. Used for both commuting and a track day so far, the stability is excellent. Peeking out from behind the windscreen during a long sweeper, there is no buffeting at all. Only drawback I can note so far is that there is still a faint whistling that I hear whenever I turn my head back to look behind me. Otherwise, the side spoilers do an excellent job of keeping the helmet stable at high speeds and the airflow is ... MoreGreat helmet! As far as race lids go, its relatively quiet despite the massive amount of air that it channels in.Excellent effort from Alpinestars. I would prefer this over the X15 in terms of fit and finish, and definitely miles more practical than the Pista. The vision is excellent once you have the fit adjusted for your riding, the viewport is excellent

For me the promise of what this helmet would deliver is better for me than I expected. For me it fit perfect to my head with no adjustments. The R10 has many ways to adjust for proper fitment. It is a track helmet first and sold for that application. I use it for not what it was intended to be used for. Steet use. I expected a level of noise to be greater than my AGV K6S. Comparing a premium track helmet to a premium street helmet you have to expect some trade off. I sweat a lot. The R10 promised superior ventilation. This function in itself can create noise. How the R10 manages this is by the R&D that went into controlling the air going around it. Right away I felt a much cooler environment in the R10. I have aways tried to control my breathing at slower speeds and in stop a go traffic. Always hoping for a break in traffic to get some speed to get air moving thru the helmet. Afterall your own breath and your melon temp raises interior temps and self-made humidity. For me, I breath much easier in the R10. For this benefit alone I would put up with an increase noise level. For me it is not much more if any than my AGV K6S. That part of the review was for temp and noise comfort. Moving on to wallet comfort. Again, for me I think the price for what you get is unbeatable. Okay Okay AlpineStars yes Italian Company Italian Design R10 made in China. AGV Italian Company Italian Design K6S made in China. The AGV Pista GP RR made in Italy. This may be why the R10 is so much easier on the wallet. I bought one of the Graphic versions because of how much stuff you get with it. That value alone pays you not to pass it up. It comes with Helmet bag, two spoilers, 3 visors. 1 clear 2 tinted, a Pinlock 120 and tearoffs. Go to CycleGear and deduct the price of the extra's you get with the R10. Then do the same with the AGV Pista GP RR to see your price point of the helmet itself. Both pass the same rigorous test for racing and street use. R10 has only been fully released to the public since the first quarter of 2024 but has been in GP use for quite some time. This has been in development for 6 plus years. For me my situation/ needs from a helmet/ cost /value/quality it is a win win. What you get out of the R10 may not be for you. That is why I say for me all the time. I not telling you it is the end all helmet for you. I am just expressing what the R10 did for me. Be sides the fact if you buy it at CycleGear you're not stuck with it if it is not for you per their policy. Thank you.
Let me start by saying that I love Alpinestars. Unfortunately I felt like the best thing about this helmet is that it was made by them. The quality of the helmet seems really poor. The liner is thin and the cheek pads have a thick plastic frame that scratch your face when putting on and taking off the helmet. The chin strap didn't seem very secure and the clasp for the visor is quite difficult to open and close. I gave the 2 stars as a plus for the cool design and look? and the fact that it's Alpinestars. And I liked that it came with the dark smoke visor as well. But for the cost, the product is just not there yet. Lots of small issues that added up making it easy for me to return. I just can't bring myself to keep it just for "the look".
THE best helmet ive ever owned. for reference i have shark race r pro, hjc rpha 11, agv pista, and shoei x14.... this helmet does everything they've advertised and what was detailed in the video. its incredably comfortable with the materials they use, the vsion feels as if their isnt a helmet on your head and changing shields is very easy once you get everything lined up. there's practically no buffeting on your head since its so stable. head turns are super easy and the wind isnt dragging your neck back. love the adjustability of the A-head system. and the amount of air flow that you get through the vents is awesome for summer months as it comes in at just the right spots and if you dont want all that wind, the helmet does a good job of keeping everything out. ... MoreTHE best helmet ive ever owned. for reference i have shark race r pro, hjc rpha 11, agv pista, and shoei x14.... this helmet does everything they've advertised and what was detailed in the video. its incredably comfortable with the materials they use, the vsion feels as if their isnt a helmet on your head and changing shields is very easy once you get everything lined up. there's practically no buffeting on your head since its so stable. head turns are super easy and the wind isnt dragging your neck back. love the adjustability of the A-head system. and the amount of air flow that you get through the vents is awesome for summer months as it comes in at just the right spots and if you dont want all that wind, the helmet does a good job of keeping everything out. overall super pleased!alpinetstars did a fantastic job with their first helmet.
Sadly i did not get to purchase my R10 from Cycle Gear due to the way these are flying off the shelf but i can offer an informed review having owned mine now for over a month. To Start, this is the finest helmet i have ever owned. it is replacing a high dollar helmet that sounds like footwear. from the outside this helmet is just sexy. when donning it is TIGHT going on your head and i only wear mine when wearing a Balaclava so my ears stay on my head and i dont sweat out that interior. Once on it is a work of art. it squeezes your cheeks tightly like a race spec helmet should but it feels so comfortable. the eye port is HUGE. if you cant see out of this helmet its likely you have cataracts. next are two items that should not be together on most helmets. airflow and ... MoreSadly i did not get to purchase my R10 from Cycle Gear due to the way these are flying off the shelf but i can offer an informed review having owned mine now for over a month. LOVE it living in Florida. now for noise. this helmet has NO right to be as quiet as it is and i can easily lower volume on my Cardo Edge that i cannot on my other two helmets while highway cruising. ( use the same cardo on all three).. And finally the greatest aspect of this helmet is the aero. I ride a Multistrada that i have changed windscreens, different helmets and it always causes moderate buffeting on my helmet. it got better going to a low screen but still there. this helmet was the cure. i dont know how it can defeat the buffeting but it does. i would have bought it for that aspect alone.
Chad Abshire it is more quiet than most track helmets but still loud (I ride with earbuds so I don't have that issue and to save what little hearing I have left). But comfort is phenomenal and they have stuff implemented into the helmet to fine tune the fitment which is amazing. Cuts through the wind beautifully and when doing full tuck speeds it creates a nice pocket. Also comes with more than I've ever seen in any other helmet. Clear and dark visor both pinlock ready, comes with a pinlock shield, race tear aways, shorter spoiler and a chin curtain. All of that is packed into a high quality bag and has their own individual covers. Definitely worth the money. It's incredibly light and the aerodynamics of it make it incredibly smooth at highway speeds. Visibility is very wide, almost can't see the helmet in my peripherals, which makes it easy to look over my shoulder. I've noticed the wind noise is a bit loud but nothing ear plugs can't take care of. Cheeks are still pretty tight but I'm sure they'll ease up overtime. The ventilation is great for these hot days. Even with everything closed it still has airflow. The only issue that I've had is the little plug under the shield release. I've knocked it out on accident already once. Beings you can't actually see it you have to go by feel and that's gonna take some getting used to. Other than that I think it's an almost flawless helmet
nice but some issues on fit - pin lock insert obscures vision when the visor is down and locked and you are in a tucked position, you get used to it but its a design flaw. maybe racers don't use inserts ?the adjustable lining seems like a gimmick there's no noticeable change in angle using the little snaps on the neck roll. Some video reviews state incorectly the angle adjustment is achievable using the skull cap mounting. The manual says these positions adjust the gap between the top of your head and the interior of the lid, the manual also suggests the stock positions are the default safest. Ear recesses work well for speakers for my cardo edge buy the unit clashes with my plastic shoulder armour on the jacket and makes looking left difficult sometimes. The lid is tight to get on but really comfortable for 3+ hour rides, the airflow is great, the aero is great and the visor lock and mechanism is really good & easy to use with gloves. The lid is really nicely made, i guess as a real world road helmet it has some compromises.
