Absolutely fantastic jacket!

I absolutely love this jacket. With a back protector added in, it feels super solid and safe. The leather is gorgeous and the airflow through the mesh is outstanding. I've ridden in 90°+ days and it is comfortable all day, no hotspots or weird fitmen tissues. The fitment is also dead on from the sizing guide. It also continues my experience with everything I get from Alpinestars being outstanding in quality and comfort. The fact that I can add an airbag later on is good future proofing too.

Overall the value of this jacket is it's comfort and the fact you can use the tech air 5 vest. The jacket is probably the most comfortable jacket I've ever worn. 6, 2" 200lbs 44" chest, originally bought a 54 it was a little tight in the shoulder and upper back, returned for a 56, fit perfect. I slid for about 20 feet along the road, some of which was on the left side of the jacket, the pants taking most of the slide. The Rideknit material tore immediately through to the skin. I've crashed in other jackets with the Kevlar type stretch material and it does not tear as easily. You are giving up some protection for comfort, for the price of this jacket the Missile may be a better value for protection. I originally thought this jacket may be ok for a track day zipped to my V2 pants but after the crash I would not even consider using this jacket for a track day. Note A-stars does not market this jacket as ok for track days so this is not a dig to the brand.Would I buy again, for the price $600+...not sure. Jacket is super comfortable but for what I'm doing, riding mountain twisties in the south east during the hot summer days along with a track day here and there other jackets that are perforated and have more protection may be a better pic.

Okay here?s the deal, just got back from my first ride in it.As a reference for any of the other shorter ladies out there: I?m 5?2?? and weigh 130 pounds and I usually can go with either a size 46 or 48. Got this in a 48. Arms are a smidge long for me but not bad. I have enough room to wear a light fleece under the jacket with a back protector in the jacket.Comfort: SUPER comfortable out of the box. Felt extremely light. I did replace all the armor with level 2 and added level 2 back protector and it still feels super comfortable. No break in period needed.Thoughts on the ride knit: VERY comfortable love the stretch. With a light fleece under the jacket I wasn?t cold at all. I think this will be a REALLY great jacket in the summer months as the wind truly does go straight through the arms where the ride knit is. I live in AZ and am kinda a sissy when it comes to cold weather so I probably wouldn?t wear this jacket if it was any cooler than about 65 degrees.LOVE how light weight it is and comfortable right out of the box.

This is a great jacket! I will say that if you have a big belly, you may find this uncomfortable. It has a semi-athletic cut and doesn't sit low. You want this kind of jacket to fit snugly as any material flapping around in the wind isn't good. It is kind of heavy but I don't notice it when I'm riding. The shoulder armor is fantastic. It does let SOME air flow but not as much as I would like, especially down my back. The styling is great! You are getting what you paid for, although this price may be too high for a lot of consumers.

My Lesson
26 June 2022

This jacket makes riding in warm/hot weather so enjoyable. There are no sharp pokes at any of the arm or neck zippers like I have experienced with other jackets. Perfect fit. I'm 5'11" and 187 with an athletic build and the size 54 was perfect. The piece is really attractive, more so than the pics can covey. The only negative i experienced was taking off the jacket after a 3 hour ride was difficult due to the perspiration form my arms as I was wear a cotton T-shirt underneath. I thing wearing a long sleeve shirt should help with that difficulty.I summary this is my favorite riding jacket. Fit and finish are the best I've ever owned. It's also the most attractive looking. I've always tried to go the cheaper route with riding gear but I feel now that was a mistake ... MoreThis jacket makes riding in warm/hot weather so enjoyable. Great air flow, looks and very confortable for the hot weather down here in Florida. The reason for my rating is the issues that I have with the zippers, front chest, wrist, and inside waterproof pocket: after a few months of wearing it they were hard to close , the inside one couldn?t closed at all . I thanks Revzilla for the quick response and the returning of the jacket. I decided to get me the same one, and after few months, started to have the same problems. I am a weekend rider, and love the the Alpinestars brand and products. I hope this review will help others when is time to make a decision to get a new jacket. Ty.

Overall a great jacket…but a little disappointed that some of the “standard” equipment/options are no longer standard. First the bad…I knew some of this when I ordered it…but I needed a jacket. There is no back pad. Would have at least expected the foam one. I ended up pulling the foam back pad out of my old jacket that’s now too big for me and it fit. The forearm/elbow armour seems cheap. Maybe it’s the newest and latest/greatest thing but compared to the armour from my old jacket it just seems flimsy and less protective. I ended up taking the arm armour out of my old jacket and putting it in the new one. There is no liner anymore other than the mesh one. They used to come with a zip in liner that was super thin and quilted…sort of a cold weather liner…but didn’t add any warmth but made it super easy to slip the jacket on/off. I was going to put my old liner in but there are no internal zippers to attach a liner anymore either…I feel like that’s a bit of a fail on alpinstars part. The mesh liner is stitched in and there is the smallest access zipper on the bottom of the jacket which is where you’d go to swap out armour. You have to access the sleeves through there too and is a bit of a poor design. Maybe I’m nit picking? Now the good…super comfortable and looks and fits great which is up to par with alpinstars gear in general. Zippers seem to be stronger than previous versions of jackets I’ve had and the back of the neck doesn’t pull like other jackets I’ve had. Still great quality…I guess my only beef is the lack of armour that used to come standard…and what is in there seems flimsy…and the inability to zip in a better liner…so that’s why 4 stars instead of 5 overall. And only 3 stars for protection…but that seems to be the new standard based on most jackets nowadays.

Really good, great fit and excellent airflow. Stretching and comfortable. I really loves this jacket. I also ordered the Fusion and though the price is steep it definitely flows even better. The next step up (Fusion) is freak’n spectacular but his is a superb alternative. Because of the bit deign, most airflow comes through the knit pan ELA on the inside of the arms. The provides excellent flow at mitral to aggressive riding positions. You can feel the air enter, especially at the inside of the elbow, and then was over the arm and into the shoulders. The Fusion has significantly more flow in the chest (I live in Texas, last track day was 104°). I’m willing to pay a lot for a little more air. May not be the best protection choice as the flexible nature of the materiel means it will allow easier overextension during a crash compared to super aggressive race gear but I track it regularly and ride with it on weekends for 4-5 hour outings. I love it!

I am a medium size, ordered the L (52 Euro) and it’s a snug fit, just as recommended in the Alpenstars booklet that comes with the jacket. I carefully removed the soft pads (see photos) using a lot of care and a sharp craft knife on the stitching - they come off from inside the lining without damaging the leather. This gives you an extra half inch or so room across the chest area if you feel it’s a bit too snug lol. This jacket is comfortable on the bike and flows air nicely with the perforations. The black/black option is understated and is great for sport bikes and cruisers.

Bought to work with Tech5 air vest. Fit is always an issue for me. I am broad shouldered, and thick necked. I bought a 62 to fit my shoulders. Its a bit tight around the neck and under the arms and a bit long in the sleeves, but that's to be expected when you are built like me. Though, it would be nice if Astars and others realized that not all 62s are 6ft+ with long arms and a skinny neck... but I digress. The Jacket is lovely and accommodates the bulky Tech 5 air vest well. finish is nice all of the seams appear solid and well constructed. my biggest and only non sizing complaint is that the main zipper is rather tiny making putting the jacket on every morning a bit more focused than I'd like. You will feel the wind through the ride knit. there is no zip out liner (nor did I expect one). there is a flap under the zipper to keep wind out but this makes managing the tiny main zipper even more difficult. It does have a "waterproof" pocket on the inside for personal electronics. All things considered its the nicest jacket I've ever owned and as a house for my Tech Air vest its fantastic. That said, its "ease of use" with tiny zippers, tight necks and pits make it less comfortable or easy to use than other jackets worn. In the end Airvest compatible jackets are thin on the ground this is what it is and works as it should.
