Four month old jacket and like a few other reviewers have said, the zipper is a serious problem as it pretty much comes apart in the wind. A quick web search will show that this is a common problem with not just this jacket, but several other Alpinestars jackets, too. So, no quality control, no matter what the marketing department tells us. Warranty is a nightmare; Alpinestars customer service will not only expect the customer to do all the footwork for the Warranty, but they want you and I to pay for part of the costs involved to repair the zipper. It's in their disclaimer that I should've read before purchasing any product from Alpinestars, my fault, I own it. It will cost you exactly as much as necessary to make it not worth it. Super long repair time-line as well, so you can pretty much kiss it goodbye for your season! They will stonewall you too, if you ask for a supervisor they will block your email. Now, I have to question safety of this jacket- do I trust that it will stay together in an accident or become a hindrance potentially costing me my life? Alpinestars refuses to tell me how it will be repaired. Just not worth it. Another web search will show some of the warranty work actually done by AS, like the glue-it-back together with any glue incident. This jacket should be recalled and it's not going to be because profits matter more than lives, apparently.I'll be showing this jacket off at the next couple of bike nights, but only because it's dangerous.

To be honest, I was looking at the other alpine stars mesh jackets but they were all sold out. This one was available and seemed to be a new product with no reviews. I went for it and I truly enjoy it. The build quality is very good, and it breathes very well! I was wearing it on a 30C day and a 17C day and somehow it feels like it handles both very well with just a T-shirt under it. It provides lots of airflow while not too much to make you cold, it regulates it well. It also fits me quite good, I am a 195lb 6ft male with a long torso and the XL fits me perfectly. It doesn’t have a liner, but it is cheaper than the other mesh jackets by alpine stars.

Love this jacket. I"ve been wearing it for a number of years now. It's bullet-proof and has worn in very nicely. Fits great and I'm a big guy with long arms which is usually a problem. Super comfortable and breathes very well for warm weather riding. Highly recommended.

Comfort: It is very breathable and the ventilation is great for summer riding. However, Alpinestars needs to make this in white or another bright color as this is a much hotter jacket when in direct sunlight than offerings from Rev'It and Icon.Fit: European, but if you have a large chest, you will need to size up.Safety: Excellent. I took a pretty bad spill while wearing this jacket, and it saved my elbow from a fracture. I slid for about 30 feet on my right arm and only got a little bit of rug burn.Overall a great summer jacket with good protection, but it needs to be offered in brighter colors.
HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED! I bought this jacket back in January of this year looking for something sleek , casual and breathable for the spring and summer riding season. Well, needless to say , after only about 8 months the lower left forearm region seam section decided to separate on its own without ever having gone down in the jacket or pushed it to its limits. Literally just discovered it yesterday while getting ready for a ride. So disappointed in the quality and craftsmanship of this jacket. Hoping that there will be more time taken in the production of these lighter fabric more breathable jackets to ensure the seams are rock solid before sending them out . Quality control is critical with these types of jackets !
Zipper separates at the bottom when zipped up since the FIRST day I received it. Now I have to ship it in and wait 3-4 weeks for it to get REPAIRED. Not to mention the stitching on my 1 month old Alpinestars SMX-1 Air v2 Gloves coming apart that ALSO need to be shipped in for me to wait 1.5 months to get back. What am I suppose to ride without gear for a month & a half or not ride at all because of your declining QC. I use to be a major fan of Alpinestars but that has definitely changed after this & customer service telling me that & not even responding back. Will never buy anymore Alpinestars gear again!!!!
I am 5?9/5?10?, 32/34 waist, bigger chest/ /shoulders and athletic build. I got a size medium. Fits great at the waist and stomach, and also fits good around shoulders but extremely tight across the chest. I can?t stand up and put my elbows back any. Luckily, most of us don?t ride standing up with elbows back. The inside liner feels like it?s a size large and it bunches up in the arms, but the outer shell is super tight around forearms and elbows. I put a large nucleon back pro in there (the all black on, not the white one), and it fits snug and doesn?t move. Zipper isn?t great. Just gotta be careful with it.Overall, it?s a decent value. And a size large would have swallowed me.Lastly, alpinestars colorways are pissing me off. I can?t stand looking like a kids crayon box. This color red goes back to the older red, which I would consider a true red. A fuzz darker than arai?s red, but a different world from ?fluorescent red?.
Superair is the correct adjective for this jacket. Air flow is very good when in motion on a bike. Keeps you cool on those 90 degree days. Of course some protection is sacrificed for maximum airflow. There is no back protector included, however it has a compartment if you want to add one later. Just a side note, Alpinestars jackets seem to be sized a little on the small size. So if you normally wear a medium, it may fit a little snug with a medium Alpinestars. I recommend trying it on in a store to check if you need to go up in size.
I really like this jacket. It has plenty of vents for hot weather riding. The protection seems efficient if you were to bail at low to medium speeds. Just keep in mind that it's sport fit so it's supposed to be a bit more fitting. Across the chest is kinda tight but the rest fits really well in the riding position. I'm 5'5" 200lbs athletic dad bod and I bought an XL and it was the right fit for my body type.
Very good jacket. I got the XXL size.I'm skinny and 6"2 and it kinda fits well. Too Large on some area and but too short for arm length and chest length.I think an XXXL may fit better but I haven't tested that out yet.Very breathable,Works well so far in the California heat.It doesn't have have water proof/wind resistant layer inside, so put on a sweater first for the cold.
