So it seems the Drystar membrane in the toe box area has already failed on the durability test and as such the quality needs to be improved.Whilst there has been plenty of overnight rain and that meant loads of standing water, there WASN'T any river crossings during the days ride!Boots now stuffed with kitchen towel to dry them out.... A great choice for agressive ADV off-road riding and Dual Sport single tracking.
I've been using these from new for abbout a week on a Dual Sport trip throughout New Mexico and i am super happy! The conditions are cool to desert hot and my feet have never been hot or cold. These boots are extremely comfortable right out of the box and feel really good on the bike. I've walked probaly about 1/2 mile on the streets of small towns ithus far in NM and they work well for that too. Stiff soles better for standing on the bike then hiking but fine to strole around a little in them.I purchased a 10 which is my size and they fit true and perfectly in my view. if anything, i'd say they run slightly big so no you may not need to size up if you are in between. My only niggles would be yes, they squeak quite a bit, almost like ski boots . Also, the buckles are pretty easy to use but on occasion they can be a little fiddlely. But, now i"m nit pickng as i've gotten much better with them as the week has gone on.Summary: Super safe and seriously comfortable with water proof capabilities. They also look bad ass as well. . Just get them if your in the market as they are awesome and i"m not sure thhere is a bbetter water proof option out there.... Show more

Cool weather dual sport excellence
Wore these boots for 10k miles from Denver to Tuktoyaktuk and back. They have a few drawbacks but are great boots overall. In my experience they are substantially waterproof. Standing in a stream will cause a bit of leakage but in the cold rain my feet stayed warm and dry. However, my feet would bake in the heat. Wearing black, waterproof boots in the desert on a hot day is fairly torturous. Would not recommend these above 80 degrees. They also make a squeaking noise that is horribly loud. It was so annoying I would have thrown them in the trash had I not figured out that Dupot Chain-Saver will shut them up (use it on your chain too).... Show more

Excellent fit, finish, and functionality! The sole is awesome for off road riding conditions! Highly recommend
I dreamed of being able to own a pair of Alpinestar Tech boots since I got my first dirt bike way back in 2004. Fast forward to 2023 and I finally purchased another bike and some riding gear. I was going to order the regular Tech 7 boots, but after seeing they had a slick sole, I decided to give the enduro model a shot. I'm glad that I did. The fit and finish is 2nd to none! They were pretty comfortable straight out of the box.. but after getting 10+ hours of ride time in them, they have loosened up and become even more comfortable. I have no issue with wearing these boots for 8+ hours of riding/walking. They fit true to size. I wish they would have come with inner booties, but it's not a deal breaker. When wearing these boots, my ankles and feet feel safe. They are very sturdy in all of the right places. The latches are well made and very functional. I have done a lot of riding in these boots and they have been holding up extremely well. They don't scuff easily. They're a breeze to clean after a ride. Excellent protection and comfort. I bought the black, brown, with the white logo. The sole on this model really helps you maintain good grip and footing on and off the bike. Wet rock? Not a problem with these boots. I can walk or run straight across wet rock. Try that in the mx model with a slick sole and I'll bet you end up on your.. well you can see where I was heading with that. Highly recommend to anyone looking for protection and functionality with serious comfortability. Excellent job!... Show more

Great ADV Boots
I bought these boots specifically for adventure riding on a KTM 890 Adventure, after suffering a broken foot from riding with sub-par boots last year. I have had these boots for about 3 months and have used them for many miles both on road and off. They were comfortable right out of the box, but have broken in a bit since my first use. Due to the enhanced level of lower foot protection over what I am used to it took a little getting used to for me with shifting as I don't "feel" my lever as much as before, but that is more about what I was used to than anything to do with these boots. I typically wear an 11.5 and the 11's fit perfectly. They are comfortable to wear walking around and squeak a bit like others have said, but they don't bother me and I don't hear any ... Overall this is my first pair of Alpinestars boots and I am very happy with them. I feel much more protected when riding, the stiffer sole makes standing on the pegs much easier, and the fit and finish is top notch. These are more "aggressive" than many ADV style boots, but they work great for me and I would highly recommend them.... Show more

I really like these boots, but not waterproof
I very much like these boots. They arrived 2 days before a 2 week bike trip and were far more comfortable than I expected for a boot with this much protection.Although I bought the DryStar version, these boots are NOT waterproof. While scoping out a water crossing, with the water barely higher than my ankles, there was water ingress. The boots are also very noisy to walk in - no sneeking up on anyone in these boots!Despite these issues, I am very happy with my purchase.... Look good, feel just right
It is no coincidence that everyone that has those boots loves them. Protection feels proper, looks are great, fit is perfect. Walking in them is not too much different than the Toucans (of course they are stiffer, which is a good thing). Sizing: I am a 9.5-10 in regular shoes, wide feet, and size 9 is a perfect fit. I have not tested the protection, the waterproofing, or how warm feet get. My intended use is adv riding, and what these boots offer is a better compromise than any high-end adv boot (emphasis in 'compromise').... Show more

My only's
Let me start by saying what I don't like because at least is shorter.Number one, if you've got over the boot pants, good luck. These things are incredibly difficult to finagle pants over. That's it! Now onto the things I do like. These boots are true to size I wear a 12 in Ariat boots And now I know I wear a 12 in Alpinestars as well. They have an incredibly stiff soul. Also the most comfortable boot I've ever stood in. At the time of this picture I've been on 2 4+ hour rides and walked around town ate dinner or lunch and never once felt like I was ready to get out of them. The couple of times I've stuffed my pants into them I just had to find a way to make the pants not feel too uncomfortable and it worked out well. Shifting hasn't been a problem because I ... The couple of times I've stuffed my pants into them I just had to find a way to make the pants not feel too uncomfortable and it worked out well. Shifting hasn't been a problem because I rarely try to get my whole boot to under the shifter anyway. But if that's how you like to shift, you'll definitely need to adjust the shift lever or buy a new one, but that would be worth it considering how safe I feel riding in these boots. they've definitely added a level of confidence on dirt roads and water crossings. My feet get really hot in general so I was worried that these would be a problem in the heat but so far I haven't had any issues with over sweating or even uncomfortable heat on the feet. I'm able to wear ankle socks with these boots, which is kind of incredible. Because they are more of a motocross style boot they are very stiff, but not impossible to walk around in. I have plenty of flex so I don't feel like I'm walking on the moon or some crap. Needless to say if I had it all over again I would buy these 10 times over . I placed the airflow in the middle bandaid I don't know if it's airflow that's keeping my feet cool or the material but it works. And they are water proof.... Show more

They are NOT waterproof!
Don't know what kind of membrane is that 'drystar' but it's far from being waterproof. Boots get immediately wet inside even from riding on wet asfalt with waterproof pants on. Once wet it takes ages to get them dry. It looks like water gets trapped in soft lining between plastic shell and membrane which constantly let the moisture in. The result is awful and you pray for sunny and dry weather. I had no luck and took them for the long trip without prior testing. Unfortunately it rained a lot and my feet were constantly wet. It's big shame because boot is comfy grippy and looks nice and safe. My previous boots ( forma adventure) despite +2 years of abuse are more waterproof and even if get wet from the top will dry up on feet.Photo shows boots after 24 hours of ... Very Comfortable, Great Protection
I've had these for a year and a half now, riding through 3 seasons. They have been very comfortable and kept my feet dry and warm through all conditions, including heavy downpours and wading through water, mud, etc. In extremely hot weather, 30+, they can be a bit warm, but we don't get much of that on the west coast. I'll take the warmth over a non-gore boot/wet feet, any day.I've had one bad spill with them where my foot got trapped between the bike and some rocks and I noted to myself how lucky I was to be wearing good protection. If I had been wearing a less protective boot I may not have been walking away, but I did, and other than some rips in my riding pants everything was okay. I'd purchase these again in a heartbeat....
