First off, I've been dying to get my hands on these shoes for cool dude stuff. When I got them, they are made with authentic Multicam Black fabric, the insoles are actually good and offer good arc support, ventilate my feet, and are true to size. I ordered 9W, and matched the exact size of my Merrel MOABs in 9w.I used them first with my Good Feet Ortho insoles and made my feet sweat. After a couple of days, I swapped them to the insoles it came with and my feet felt the same, but my feet ventilated per step I did (weird, but works). I used regular socks and smart wool socks, and smart wool were the best to keep my feet warm, and quickest to dry when stepped in a puddle.I used them also as my training shoes for weight lifting. Flattest feet on ground when doing compound free weights as overhead press, bench press, dips, pullups, rows, deadlifts, and cardio mile run sessions. Also used them for urban training when doing range work.Overall, this are truly meant for maritime operations by Tier 1 Operators around the globe, they are fin friendly for water infils, but as an avg dude who is not Mil active is the coolest pair of "combat chucks" anyone can buy.PROs: Coolest combat chucks you can buy! Comfortable and ventilated at least for me.CON: Will not recommend for use as an All Terrain Shoe. This are meant for flat dry/wet surfaces and ship/boat decks.

This boot was the only option I could find for hard-soled SCUBA boots that came in EEE width. The boots look good on the outside - the finish is good. The width was good. I was disappointed however in the finish on the INSIDE of the boot. The seams are so poorly finished that there is no way you could wear these without socks - your feet would be a blistered mess in short order. If you wear cotton socks to protect your feet, you no longer have a quick draining, quick drying SCUBA boot. My expectation was for a better product. I would not recommend this product to others. A better option would be a pair of high top Chuck's at a fraction of the price.

I have only wore the shoe a few times & am good with it so far! I have not used it in the outdoors or on a slippery surface yet. You do have very good balance and traction while wearing them. They do get hot thou, but the side vents do help vent some.the only complaint I have is the shoe is just a bit tight on the height (up& down) especially just above the toe line. Maybe if you buy a larger size it would fix this issue. Also the shoe rubber insole seems to “peel” back each time You take your foot out! But so far overall it is a Awesome shoe that should last many years I predict! I think the company did allot of research and ask for input from military members before making it! Definitely spend the extra,it’s well worth doing so!

Altama OTB Maritime Assault Mid, are my favorite footwear, by far, and they resemble the look “Chuck Taylors,” What’s not to love! They are durable, rigid, and break in unique to each persons foot and walk. Personally I change the foot bed, as soon as I receive them, and their durability make them my “everyday shoes.” The size is consistent with proper fit for foot expansion and contraction. I ware an 11.5 in these, and wore the same in combat boots while active. Even with low cut/ankle cut wool socks the length is perfect, and I like to keep my feet comfortable. This is my third pair, and I will purchase more.
Good fit, comfortable. So far, all other shoes with the Converse style rubber toe caps have bent and rubbed my foot painfully. These do not. Toes have plenty of room. Appropriate amount of padding around ankles offers some protection and added support. So far, have walked maybe 25 miles in town and woods and on rocks and gravel. They had good traction on the wet deck of a New Zealand jet boat. The green color could go military, or sort of trendy/ hip ( not necessarily my thing, but my wife thinks they look ok), A leather version without drains would be great for wet cold weather, or uniform requirements.
I've worn these for casual wear, hiking and scuba diving. They are good for a simple tougher replacement to converse, etc. I find them more comfortable than similar shoes. I would not attempt to compare them to other light hiking boots, trail runners or other heavy boots. These are best described as converse all stars with mesh padding, rubber insole and better rubber sole.I found the sole adequate for most light hiking and particularly good on jagged rock. The tread is not deep enough for mud and wet clay, but compromises have to be made somewhere. The drainage port (?) seems to be in a spot that I tend to step into rocks with and snags in a way I have not experienced with other boots or shoes. The drainage port (?) seems to be in a spot that I tend to step into rocks with and snags in a way I have not experienced with other boots or shoes. I'd be okay with up to 10 miles hiking on mountain trails with these, but would want something more comfortable and/or substantial for longer hikes or with a heavy pack.I have used these for approximately 40 scuba dives including about 20 shore entries/exits. They are great in the fins and the stiffer sole seems to help with power transfer to the fins. The drain ports and rubber sole work as designed and are excellent. They have great traction and protection (jamming feet into unseen rocks) entering/exiting. The mesh interior is very comfortable but does seem to trap sand once it's in the boot and will lead to chafing on land if not cleared. The pull tabs on the back are great for pulling the boot on when wet, but are annoyingly in the way if you wear these casually with pants. As for fit, I typically wear a 11 or 11.5. I have rarely needed to wear a wide, but one foot is on the cusp of needing it. I tried these in both sizes and both widths. I kept the 11 regular for a fit similar to most other shoes and boots I own. These are narrower (forefoot) than the majority of shoes I own and I could probably go either way.
I absolutely love my set. They do have drawbacks such as the drainage holes, I understand why they are there I only wish Altama offered some that got rid of them. My next complaint is the break in can really suck with these, I ordered my correct size but it was still a tight fit. It would hurt the tops of my feet wearing these due to the stitching and the toe cap. My last complaint is that the tread on the bottom almost looks worn out right out of the box. I do believe it could benefit from a slightly deeper tread. Now on to my praises! These looks absolutely great! The break in period as much as it may suck does not last long at all! The tread may be lacking depth but when walking on slick surfaces such as ice I trust these, I wore these one icy night and while everyone else slipped around I never once felt like I would slip due to the almost gummy nature of the sole! I have not yet been able to wear these in warmer weather but as for winter they are good to have, they keep my feet warm which I struggle with anyways, that being said I do have to say these will not keep our moisture! My overall recommendation would be if you don’t have a pair of these, you need to! I will be buying a couple more pairs of these in different patterns. Altama has built a really solid product with these and I love them despite their flaws! My rating I am going to set at 5 despite the drawbacks, they preform just like they were designed.
I'm giving five stars because of the service. My shoes came much quicker then expected. They look great and width is good. My only advice is that if you buy these you should get different insoles. Your feet will hurt at the end of the day if you spend a lot of time walking on hard surfaces. Keep the originals in if you are using them for their intended use.
I purchased a total of three of these boots in different colors recently and have worn no other shoes for the past 4 weeks. The black pair I have so far found to be the most comfortable and as such I have worn it more often than the others so it's now well broken in. I will say, I like the boots a lot but they do have a few things I think that can be worked on. Order one size up (my recommendation) and you should be fine regarding fit, however, I found that as comfortable as the soles are, I cannot wear the boots without good wool socks that extend above the ankles. Reason being, when I first wore it with low rise socks and later with thin dress type socks, the top of the boot rubbed my ankles every steps I took and I new if I wore it for an extended period it would ... MoreI purchased a total of three of these boots in different colors recently and have worn no other shoes for the past 4 weeks. Reason being, when I first wore it with low rise socks and later with thin dress type socks, the top of the boot rubbed my ankles every steps I took and I new if I wore it for an extended period it would likely break my skin. Now that I wear it with the wool socks, it's great. Next, I have found that occasionally I will experience some discomfort at the first joints of my big toes, right before the point where the toe cap begins. That area might need some reinforcing. Lastly, I do a lot of walking on rocks impacted by water (sea/river/lakes) and though, thankfully I have not yet fallen, I can't say that I have experienced that superior stick feature that is extensively advertised which is actually something that attracted me to the boots in the first place. All in all, I love the product and even hope to get two more pairs in other colors that I have been eyeing but I thought it right to be truthful in my review.
These boots run small AND narrow. They offer no arch support nor ankle support. I have plantair fasciitis. They are not compatible with my insoles because of the weird rubber sole. But that’s not all!I’m an 11.5 regular. What I got feels more like an 11 narrow (despite being marked as 11.5). It’s uncomfortable and tight. I checked with other people who bought Altamas. The size problem is apparently common.I wish I had known all the problems before I bought them, because I would have saved my money. I would NOT recommend getting these.
