These last few years they have gone off the rails. I got these boots because they are some of the few products available from Altra in the "original foot shape." Why is the "original" shape so much narrower than past Altras? Also, I've only had these boots for a little while, but they make a very annoying snapping noise in the top forefoot of the boot with every step. It's weird. I'm hopeful it stops with a little more breaking in. Why doesn't Altra listen to its customers who are all begging for a return to the original Altra shape and quality? I await the robo-response from Altra with anticipation.

These are ok. Pros: traction and they keep my feet dry. Cons: they make a noise and the mid-foot is narrow (38th percentile width foot). Adequate for winter running. Would like a a better update.

First pair of Altra based on recommendation from a long distance hiking friend and several websites recommending the Altra Lone Peak as a good choice for long distance. So far I am loving the light weight design, especially the wide toe box and 0 heel rise. After a few fast paced 6-7 milers over rugged ground with lots of climbs and descents, I had none of my usual big toe numbness and cramping. Also had the chance to test the waterproofing. Feet bone dry after a few good dunkings in streams along the way. Will update experience with durability after a few hundred miles.

Read about these boots online while browsing through Appalachian Trail blogs - very popular with thru-hikers. With a couple of days of non-hiking wear under my belt, I can say that they are comfortable and quite light. Soles seem to be reasonably tough and the foot padding is pretty good.
I really put these through the ringer going on a very rainy Hoh Rainforest hike. I only dodged the biggest of puddles and my feet never got wet. They've also been on snowy/slushy trails and I had no issues there either. Like my regular Lone Peaks, these are comfortable for long hauls and have great traction. Maybe its because of being a boot instead of a shoe, but these actually feel more secure than my Lone Peak trail runners too. The last generation seemed to get hammered for durability reasons in the reviews, so I hope they hold up. So far so good though!
Nice lightweight hiking boot. Would rate higher except they are quite narrow for Altras.Fits much tighter than the normal lone peaks. Ordered same size as my LP6 and these are far too tight. Maybe due to the gusseted tongue?
At first I thought these were just as good as the previous Lone Peak, but the other reviewer is spot on. The shoe feels narrower and does the exact same thing where it makes a snapping sound when I walk!! I thought I was the only one who this happened with until I read their review. I'm hoping the next version fixes these flaws since I really like the Lone Peak Mid version 1, non all-weather. That shoe doesn't seem to have the same issues as being too narrow and snapping with every single step (gets really annoying!!) I've tried lacing them tighter and looser to see if the snapping stops and makes them feel less tight and narrow but I would avoid this shoe until Altra fixes the issues.
These are awesome, except for that area of wear down at the forefoot. Got a lot of miles of them though, and they are super comfortable. Wide toebox and zero drop and the rest of the boot is not overly voluminous, so it hugs my foot nicely.
THESE ARE NOT WATERPROOF. Your feet get wet walking on wet grass! They are comfortable though, like wearing house slippers. Phenomenal. Waterproof? No. Durable? Well I walk 18 miles a day and they lasted from Jan 12 2023 to today. You tell me.
So Shoe looks nice, fit is tighter than 4 but ok, just need thinner socks. Grip is ok. That's where any resemblance to past Lone Peaks ends. Can't believe people say water-resistant at all. You get damp feet in wet grass. The loss of a gator system is a sad day for Lone Peak lovers. Without a gator in serious hiking you will be wondering more about all the debris in your shoe than enjoying the journey. Then your going to spend lots of time washing them out and drying them rather than hiking. In fact had to put on my old 4's while these dried out from cleaning all the junk out from a serious but short hike. Soft hillsides sand water crossings are not going to be fun in these. Forget about snow mud and rivers. Very disappointing. Feel like I've lost a good friend. Why ... MoreSo Shoe looks nice, fit is tighter than 4 but ok, just need thinner socks. Grip is ok.
