My SECOND pair of Altra Hiking boots. Matter of fact, I’ve been on the edge of my seat waiting for this year’s stock to be released! The neutral heel, the wide toe box, the absolute comfort, the water resistance… perfect for my hiking needs. I’m not an aggressive hiker. I do 3-7 mile stretches in south central Montana (Beartooth Mountains area); Small stream crossings, scrabble, elevation gains of 100-400’. The grip is perfect. Following a diagnosis of Morton’s neuroma in the balls of each foot, and subsequent surgery- I changed my footwear. No more problems! I LOVE these boots- they keep me on my feet trail after trail!

I had a pair of all weather Lone Peaks that started leaking a little after a year, after not much use. It was just past REIs return policy, but little did I know that Altra's return policy is good for approximate miles worn and I was way under that. They actually reached out to ME when I complained on the website that my boots failed shortly after one year. And they sent me a replacement pair which are much better looking than the pair that went bad, and so far are working great. I love how comfortable this boot is. Thank you Altra for standing by your product and making sure your customers get what they paid for!

I received these 3 days before a 4 day, 45 mile backpacking trip to Havasupai Falls. That hike is notorious for chewing up feet and I had no break-in period. I put my inserts in straight over the altra inserts and wore a pair of toe socks with hiking socks over them. I had absolutely no foot problems. Which was good because I used all my moleskin doctoring everyone else's feet.

I purchased these Altra ALL-WTHR Mid 2 Hiking Boots mainly for walking outdoors in all types of weather. I was told the boots are water-resistant, but not waterproof. So I was careful not walk through puddles so my feet wouldn't get wet. Then I got caught in driving rain one afternoon while running errands in/out of several stores. The shoes got soaked, but my feet stayed dry. I was happily surprised to find they were more waterproof than expected.These shoes are also really comfortable. I purchased them for the zero drop and wide toe box because my foot/toe pain had worsened over many years of wearing stiff, Goretex, NB hiking boots. This foot/toe pain has now resolved. REI staff member went above and beyond for two hours bringing out the boots I thought I wanted, finding my correct size (I measure 8 -8.5 possibly wide, but because of how one foot fits, I take a 9.5), and I have to say, I have never had better hiking days! No break in before these boots tackled moderate level 4-6 mile hikes over lots of rocky terrain and tree roots, creeks and up and down hills. My feet, hips and back have never liked boots more. Wore with polypropylene liners and darn tough merino-nylon hiking socks and feet were really happy. I just received my 8.5 Altra Lone Peak All Weather shoes. They fit comfortably right out of the box. My first 2 mile hike in the woods in 34 degree wet, cold Michigan drizzle was great. I have a high arch and need depth in a shoe that is roomy over the top of my foot and toes. The widest part of my foot is 4 inches across the ball of my foot. Some arthritis. These shoes are high quality, soft but supportive and super cute. Definitely stay dry in rain. Wonderful toe room:). Tried many good brands and these won hands down for daily hiking, medium terrain in all weather.
I previously left a 5 star review because Altra’s are the best! Two months in I found they are very narrow and not just needing to be broken in. Unfortunately they have caused severe foot pain due to newer models being less wide. Outside of this I would give a 10/10. But if you have wider feet, make sure to keep in mind they are more narrow than previous models.
I bought these Altra boots because everyone in my family is obsessed with Altra boots so I wanted to try them. I could barely stand the two hikes I did in these because of how much the arches of my feet hurt. There was a severe pulling sensation on the outsides of my feet because I have high arches and these provide little to no support. If you have flat feet, these could be a great boot for you, I do know that many others have success with these shoes, but I would not recommend wearing them without insoles if you have a high arch by any means.
Extremely comfortable, great for running up through the woods, up and down steep hills with slippery leaves- they have awesome grip!!! They run a little small to me. I wear a 9.5 in Hoka running shoes and a 10 in ASICS running shoes. These I compared 10 and 10.5 and ended up going with 10.5 since I’ll be running in them. I also have a neutral arch foot, neither under nor over-pronated, if that helps anyone. The support for my feet is perfect. They are very high quality and work well in muddy/wet terrain as well.
Bought these boots for a trip to Colorado while it was still snow-packed (for the most part). I wore these shoes, brand new, and the waterproofing broke within the first 2 miles of wearing them. Right at the seal where the show bends. I was so utterly disappointed and had to continue to wear these boots during my trip. So, I had boots that would constantly get my socks and feet wet.If all you ever need these boots for is dry hikes, then save your money and get the regular boots. Or, if you fancy having to reseal your boots every day, buy these.The fit and feel were fine, I was just mad that I paid all this money for the waterproofing and was left wanting.
