Speedy international delivery - made its way to New Zealand much faster than expected. Great price and product selection - the Olympus 6 Goretex was only released a few weeks prior to purchase and this was one of the few shops outside of the US that had availability. Really impressed with Hillmalaya HK. Will look to purchase here again. Amazing shoe, too. Thanks.

I bought these shoes for the Camino Portuguese from Porto to Santiago (~160 miles), which I just finished. It was my sixth Camino and my fifth pair of Astra shoes. On sunny days the GTXs are hotter than the Olympus 5s, on rainy days they are just as wet inside. If all you're doing is stepping in puddles on a short walk to the bus, the GTXs will fit the bill. But if you're walking for hours in steady rain the Gortex holds back the water for a while but once the socks get wet, the feet get wet. For a while I thought it was the Sole insoles I was using. Changed back to the OEM insoles and squeaks continued. It's loud enough that my walking companions could hear me coming. For me, the squeak is a deal breaker. My four year old Lone Peak 4s are worn out but never sounded like this. Because of the squeak, I am taking them back to REI to exchange for something else. All up, I love Altra shoes. I wouldn't walk long distances in anything else, but because of the really annoying squeak, I think I may go back to the Olympus 5s and save the price difference.

If you are new (like me) to zero/low drop shoes, be prepared for sore legs the first week as you stretch. So far I have hiked, paraglided, lounged, and done office work in these shoes. I don't even think about them, and at the end of the day my feel still feel great.

This is my 4th pair of Altra Olympus shoes but the first goretex pair. I can run in them but I really buy them for long distance walking - 10 miles plus per day. The goretex and leather combo made them a bit stiff st first compared to my previous pairs but now I have walked around 30 miles in them they are very comfortable and very waterproof - and warm which is important in the UK winter months. But the best bit is that so far (fingers crossed etc) there are no signs of wer on the interior. All my other Altra Olympuses have almost immediately shown signs of wear around the tongue. So I am very happy with these shoes!
Had to buy mens as my size is not available in womens, that is my only disappointment. They are OK for size even so I would prefer the look to be less chunky. Great for men I would say. They are super comfy and the toe space and zero drop is perfect. Wish more shoes were made foot shape.
Very nice bulldozers. Ordered mens size 40, fits well for female foot, who usually wears also 40. Great for walking in northern climate, with snow etc. Colour is definitely not black, its blueish. There is also one little black element, and maybe you can say that outsole is black, but I say its more like grayish black.
The good : a bit wider toebox. a little bit improved lug pattern. The bad: same weight, way too heavy, a worse heel cup and heel material, less Goretex inside.Still the best option from Altra for bad weather.Wish they made something lighter yet resistant.
Very comfortable a big step up from Olympus5. Have noticed sole tread extends out on heel & in a few instances in close proximity to other people they have clipped or stood on this extended tread. Weight - needs to be lighter. GTX lining where cut off just under upper section to tongue needs to be smoother or covered - I found it a little sharp/rough. Vibram names needs to be black so that everything is black on shoe.
The width is great, allows my foot to move without cramping. This is important to mitigate pain that can develop in my metatarsal area. This still allows me to lock down my foot comfortably with maximum support including the heal. Highly recommended.
They are comfortable but previous pair (Olympus 5) didn't last long. The Goretex waterproof membrane lasted 2 walks. By the third one the left shoe was seeping water. That is very common, unfortunately. Goretex is a rip-off.
