Thankfully, even from the first run with the Altra Torin 6 shoes, I felt no foot pain whatsoever. Updated from its number 5 iteration, the Torin 6 shoes debuted this summer with an engineered mesh upper, an evolved molded heel collar, and superb foam in the midsole. In short: If you are a fan of zero-drop shoes and Altras classic FootShape, the Torin 6s will feel like nothing on your feet - except support and comfort. I tested them out for miles on a variety of roads and trails this month.Straight from the box, the Torin 6 looks sleeker than Altra's other trail runners and hikers, but still holds true to the wider toe box. The heel and collar fabric is soft and smooth, as is an improved, more plush tongue (compared to previous models). After about a week of testing, I had taken the Altra Torin 6 on a few shorter runs and one longer 12-mile run around the foothills of Boulder, Colo. I used the Torins on pavement and sidewalks and on mostly flat road, though still with some elevation gain.I also should point out that I have run or hiked in zero-drop shoes previously, including other Altras, though not recently. When minimalist and zero-drop shoes became more popular a few years ago, I had run in a few zero-drop shoes from Merrell for both trail and road.I was a little nervous about running longer distances in these Torins, but I had no pain issues whatsoever. From the first time out, the Torin felt light and airy underneath my feet. These shoes gave me a new outlook on running on pavement. So far, I'm confident their cushion and stability will last miles and miles.

Wow! I love this shoe! I don't usually opt to workout in shoes before breaking them in, but the first time I put the shoe on, I knew it was comfortable enough to go run in. I work out at Orange Theory a few times a week and run to supplement on other days. I tested this shoe in both environments and some strength training at home and it held up it's comfort and durability in all three workouts. I have a wider foot at the center, and this shoe did not feel like it was squeezing or squashing my feet at all. It does fit true to size in my opinion. I do not have the same issue with the tongue that other people have mentioned in their reviews, but I typically wear a similar trail shoe with a harder higher tongue like the Torin. It compares to my other favorite running ... MoreWow! I would absolutely purchase another pair. I have a hard time finding a running shoe I like and that doesn't cause shin splints or bother my knees. This did neither! The benefits are comfort, durability, being able to wear them right out of the box.I would absolutely buy this product and recommended it to family and friends. Even though this was a promo and I recieved this as part of a sample, I already am planning on buying a pair for my partner!

First off, Altra has saved my feet! I love the fit and comfort of the shoes that I've purchased, BUT ... I've had issues with the quality of the material on each of them - both the Torin 6 and Olympus 5. This is my third pair of Torin 6 and having the same issue: material on the inner part of the shoe is shearing and the tread on the bottom is coming off (unglued?). And I must add that this pair has never been worn outdoors. I've only worn them to workout in my home. Very disappointing since: 1)Altra shoes are truly the only shoe I've that does not hurt my feet and 2)their high price tag. When I returned the last pair to the running store, they also reported this has been an issue with many of their customers.

I walk a couple of miles morning and evening with my dog. I absolutely love the feel. So comfortable and surprisingly supportive of my high arch. The support and comfort has not budged since I bought them. The wide toe box is everything!!!Complaints. The outer materials are not holding up. There are holes where my big toes are on the top, and yes the length is fine. And the bottoms are peeling away. It's become a tripping hazard. It's very frustrating because these shoes are pricey and as much as I want to, I don't know if I can bring myself to buy another pair. Also, I would love it if these came in an all weather option. Morning dew alone soaks my toes walking in grass.
I have a lot to say, so bare with me :) I am 43, and a firefighter for over 15 years. I stay fit, and cardio is of upmost importance to me. I will say though, since having kids, my money and priorities weigh heavily towards my kids and not me anymore. I got to try these shoes for free, and I couldn't be more thankful. I tend to buy what's on sale, or what I have always known as far as commercial name brands. They are fine, but tend to wear out quickly, and im replacing them all the time it seems. I didn't know this brand, and I didn't know this brand prior to trying them out, but I can say with 100% certainty, quality matters, and these are quality! I have a wider foot, but most wide shoes are almost too wide. Not these! I feel like my foot is secured nicely, with little wiggle room, and the soles are so soft, its like walking on your favorite foam pillow. These are soft and flexible, and if you are like me and pull on your shoes from time to time, you will love how flexible the material is. I have had a number of shoes that some hard plastic piece tends to poke through in the heal after I wear it down a bit, but that has not happened here. I have a learned a good lesson on taking the extra time to buy something that's quality, and not just what youre used to. I feel I would have never known about these had I not had the chance to try them, so trust me 100% when I tell you these are amazing. No blisters, the shoes are holding up incredible, and they feel as good weeks into wearing them as they did when I first put them on. I hope after reading this you consider trying these out. You will be incredibly pleased, just like I was, and maybe find your new favorite shoe brand!
I bought these for long runs. The cushioning is perfect for that, as my feet stay comfy throughout. The width is fine for me; in the past I have bought my true-to-size though these are on the cusp of needing to go one size up for me. Here's my issue: the tongue! The front of my shin has blistered on long runs thanks to the tongue being too long and too hard. The first time it happened I should have known better than wearing ankle socks. When the blister healed and I took them out again for another long run, I wore compression sleeves on my calves. I still blistered through this! Did the team not test these out before putting them out to market? I wouldn't say I have particularly sensitive skin. I actually can't remember the last time I had a blister before this. I have been a loyal Altra wearer for the last 6 or 7 years. I have never had such issues with a Torin model. These are the WORST! I returned one pair after a month and got a replacement (thinking I had a bad pair) but unfortunately I did not. The shoes have cracked along the side, huge pieces of tread have come off the bottom, and one of the tongues is permanently creased on the inside which makes me have to do finger gymnastics to keep it from hurting my foot. Altra gets HUGE points for toe box comfort! They are about the only shoes that don't hurt my feet. But I am so sick of paying $160 or more for a pair of shoes that looks three years old after 1 month. I haven't run a single step in these- I walk in them occasionally, but mostly just wear them during the day ... MoreI have been a loyal Altra wearer for the last 6 or 7 years. These are very average. They're not as good as old versions but they're not as bad as the newest ones. They're not as wide as they used to be and the tongue is super annoying and falls down in the shoe all the time. There's no hole to lace to the tongue to keep it up and in place. Also, they're stiffer than previous versions. This isn't terrible but they take longer to break in. The colors are nice and the cushion is solid. I really hope they make the wide wider next time and fix the tongue! Not a huge fan overall but not terrible enough to send back.
This amazing shoe fits like a dream. From the moment I first put them on they fit perfectly and I didn't need to break them in, a sure sign of a well-designed shoe. The heel support is flexible and cushy, the ball of foot cushioning is superb and very stable. I could walk and do HIIT in them, primarily what I use them for, forever. Also the heel is elongated so it's easier to get the shoe on and doesn't bother my achilles, which is another issue common with other shoes and one that drives me crazy. The shoe conforms my feet wonderfully and still provides support without suffocating my feet. The fabric is sturdy but light and breathes so that my feet never get hot, something that I have a big problem with. Almost most importantly, the tongue of the shoe isn't stiff ... MoreThis amazing shoe fits like a dream. There are even little reflectors on the sides of the shoe that go well with the design and don't detract from the overall comfort. The shoes are just so well designed, there really isn't one uncomfortable spot on this shoe. Honestly I wish I'd known about this brand years ago, I'd have been buying them all along. I got these in size 7.5 and navy/coral color which is VERY pretty. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and will buy in the future!
I've loved my torins ever since I slipped them on a few years ago. So I was saddened when I first tried on the latest iteration, torin six. Like many others have noted, the tongue is too long and the fit on the 9.5 didn't feel like my other 9.5's. After sending back the 9.5's I went to a running shoe store to see if a ten would feel better and it did! So then I had to sort out the problem of the long tongue. The shoe salesman noted other torin fans had cut off the excess tongue, but I hated to mar my new shoes. Instead I have been running comfortably with the tongue tucked under the first row of crossed laces, further securing the laces by tying my bows on top of the tucked down tongue. I'm so glad I found this solution because I love how Torins fit. They allow me ... MoreI've loved my torins ever since I slipped them on a few years ago.
