I Bought one of these for myself and one for my parents. Logged my Spotify in for them as well. It's veryyy easy for them to use, and they are not technologically advanced. This little thing actually has good sound clarity. Lots of cute little surprises and games you'll discover along the way. Frustrating when power outages happen and I have to reset it all though. Absolutely LOVE the LED display. Not only will it show the time, but actually shows the countdown when using it as a timer, so you don't need to continuously ask Alexa how long is left. I also love the fact that it automatically dims the LED depending on ambient light in the room, so it doesn't glow so bright overnight, but will brighten up once the sun comes out and you open the shades. I wish all of the echo speakers came with the display...maybe someday...dare to dream...

I don’t have much to complain about except for the annoyance of her talking over you when you ask a question and she misunderstands you and rambles on about something that I have absolutely no idea about. She misunderstands what I ask a lot and I often have to reword what I say. But the annoying part is that when she’s answering the wrong question, she doesn’t stop talking because she can’t hear me over her BIG, FAT mouth. I know that my neighbors hear me screaming “ALEXA, ALEXAAAAAA, OH MY GOD I AM GOING TO THROW YOU IN THE BATHTUB, ALEXAAAAAAAAAAAAA” and other obscenities multiple times a day. She has many features that are customizable on the app, it links to any Amazon account you have if applicable, but isn’t required. I don’t even know what I’d do without it ... I don’t even know what I’d do without it since I use it daily to check the weather, time, set reminders and alarms. You can customize it with routines, there’s too many things to count. It has become one of my household necessities. The best thing about this thing is that I can customize it so that my 5yo daughter can tell Alexa “call mommy” and it’ll call me. It even will call 911 incase of an emergency. However, I do worry about the privacy part of it. Like it eavesdropping or spying. I’d imagine it doesn’t take much for a hacker, govt, or a crazy person/stalker to hack into it. Definitely not something for the paranoid. But since I don’t have much to hide besides my lady bits-which it doesn’t have a camera or so they say, I’ll allow it. 😁 you’re welcome.

This is the second Echo Dot with clock we have purchased. The clock is so useful, because it is easy to read the time. I can also set the alarm to any type of music I want. Or I can request Alexa to play the sound of rain to lull me to sleep on the Echo Dot. I like the voice recognition feature, because I have Parkinson's and I have lost hand coordination. So it's so easy to give Alexa voice commands on my Echo Dot clock. I don't have to worry about physically setting the clock in case of a power outage or pushing/turning any buttons to find my favorite radio station. I can even request Alexa to play music for a certain period of time, or ask about the weather in my area. There's a multitude of uses with Echo Dot Clock and Alexa, some I have yet to explore. My son will sometimes ask Alexa a question to help him with his homework. We also have the regular Echo Dots as well, but I really like the clock display feature and the size of the Echo Dot Clock. It's small enough to fit even in tight spaces, but large enough to see the clock displayed. I keep mine near my bed--it's great for people who are bedridden, since Alexa can provide music, interesting facts, weather reports or other entertaining features. And I don't have to fuss with buttons or switches like the old-fashioned alarm clocks.
The Echo Dot 3rd Generation in Noir has been a reliable and functional addition to my smart home setup, particularly during the festive season. However, I must say I have a preference for the Echo Show due to its screen. Here's my experience: Design and Aesthetics The Noir finish is stylish and blends well with any room decor. The device's compact size is a plus, allowing it to fit in small spaces. Sound Quality The audio quality is impressive for such a small device. It delivers crisp sound, whether it's playing Christmas carols or responding to voice commands. Voice Regcognition Its voice recognition is accurate and efficient, even in a noisy environment. I often use it to set timers for my Christmas lights and music, and it performs these tasks flawlessly. Smart ... Smart Home Integration and Timers I particularly enjoy using the Echo Dot for setting up timers for holiday lighting and scheduling music. This feature has added convenience to our holiday celebrations, automating tasks that would otherwise require manual effort. Value for Money It offers a host of features at a reasonable price point. However, if you're looking for a device with a screen, you might find the Echo Show to be a more suitable option, as I do. The Echo Dot 3rd Generation Noir is a fantastic smart device with many strengths, including its design, sound quality, and smart home integration. However, if a screen is crucial for you, you might want to consider the Echo Show instead. Despite this, the Echo Dot remains a strong contender in the realm of smart home devices.
I've been using the Amazon Echo Dot for several months now, and I have to say, I'm impressed with what it can do. It's a small, compact smart speaker that packs a lot of features into a small package. The sound quality is surprisingly good for its size, and it can fill a small room with sound without any issues. The Alexa app makes it easy to customize your settings and manage your device. One thing to keep in mind is that the Amazon Echo Dot is always listening for the "Hey Alexa" wake word. Some people might be uncomfortable with this, but you can always mute the microphone if you don't want it to listen. Overall, I think the Amazon Echo Dot is a great device for anyone who wants a smart speaker that can do a lot of things without taking up too much space. It's not perfect, but it's definitely worth considering if you're in the market for a smart speaker.
This dot paired with the Sengled bulb has been so amazing! I also added a TP plug and that's cool too, and it turns on when it shouldn't, but with voice command I can turn the plug on and off with ease. Not sure if the issue is with Alexa, the plug, or my old 1950s wiring. The routines are fantastic because I can have the lights on just before I wake up, so i can see where im going. The voice commands work really well, but yiu do need to be sure to put in all the different ways you would say the command like, "Alexa, turn the lights off", and "Alexa, turn off the lights". If you don't do that for some commands, she won't recognize what you are asking her to do.Adding other devices is semi-quick and easy. Linking two dots for speaker purposes is fairly easy too ... I have not tested it yet.I gave these out to a couple people as gifts, and at $15 each with a free Sengled bulb, I could not go wrong. Bought one for every room in my house, including the garage. Even hooked them up to my Nest thermostat easily.I do have issues with my Alexa TV. The dot initially connects, but then can't make the connection with the TV most of the time. Not even with voice commands.

It fills my room with crisp, clear audio, whether I'm listening to music, podcasts, or audiobooks. The volume range is also quite impressive for a speaker of this size. The real star of the show, though, is Alexa. The voice assistant is responsive and incredibly helpful. I've been using it to set timers, check the weather, control my smart lights, and even order takeout. The more I use it, the more I discover new and useful skills that make my daily life easier. The only minor gripe I have is the speaker's design. While it's compact and unobtrusive, the fabric covering can collect dust and be difficult to clean. That said, it's a small inconvenience given the speaker's overall performance and capabilities. In a nutshell, the Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) is a fantastic smart speaker for anyone looking to dip their toes into the world of smart home devices. Its affordable price, ease of use, and impressive sound quality make it a great starting point, and Alexa's capabilities are sure to make it an indispensable part of your daily routine.

The 1st generation model was launched back in 2016 and it’s had a number of updates since, including the Echo Dot with Clock (2020) and the Amazon Echo Dot released in late 2022 with an audio upgrade. Some of these upgrades will be appealing for people. but the third-gen Echo Dot sans time display and without an audio boost that we’re reviewing here is still absolutely worth buying and one of our most-recommended smart home devices. That’s because there’s plenty to love about the Amazon Echo Dot (3rd generation). It allows you to control your smart home with a few voice commands, it’s able to make calls almost anywhere in your country, and it can also stream music from a range of the world’s most popular services. It’s small, but it packs a punch. However, despite a number of upgrades to the Dot over the years, this 3rd gen version still lacks a few key things that could make it a 5-star product. Most notably, there’s no 3.5mm auxiliary cord. It's not the simplest Amazon Echo speaker though; the Amazon Echo Input, adds Alexa smart capability to a connected speaker, without having the ability to play music itself.
I use YouTube as my ONLY music streaming service. The echo dot, doesn’t integrate with YouTube but can play via Bluetooth. I read that I could use this as a Bluetooth speaker and all I would have to do is say “Alexa turn on Bluetooth” and then I would be able to connect my phone. Well it worked the first night I got it, and I was super happy with it. Then the next morning it wouldn’t connect to my phone via Bluetooth. Then it would say it was connected and it wasn’t. I tried to connect my phone via the app to Bluetooth it, and then the speaker would say “connected to iPhone” and then instantly “unable to connect to iPhone” I had gotten a free Google speaker a year ago and gotten rid of it after a month, so I decided to try this out, but after two days, I’m giving it ... It’s also really off putting that YouTube seems to be one of the only platforms that it doesn’t integrate with. I am 27 for reference and understand how technology works, but this Bluetooth problem going from working to not working overnight is beyond frustrating since I was going to use it as a glorified speaker anyways.
