Yellow bar

I love that you can see book titles in colour and the kindle is very responsive. A big problem is that there is a yellow coloured bar at the bottom of the page screen. This seems to be a massive issue as there are numerous posts on social media about this. It is not clear at the moment if there is going to be a software update to fix this.I am very disappointed as the kindle colorsoft is not cheap. I am unsure if I am able to return the Kindle as the packaging has been opened.

I just got it. Mine also has the yellow tinge at the bottom that everyone else is experiencing. What’s more strange to me is getting used fo the denim-like texture of the color layer that makes the white space look fuzzy/textured. I’m curious to see what Amazon does about the feedback. I am upgrading from a 2013 Kindle Paperwhite. If I end up grabbing my 10+ year-old Paperwhite more often than this new ($300) Colorsoft, then I will probably return the new device.

I received my device yeaterday. As many other reviewers have commented, I also had the dreaded yellow discoloration on the bottom of the screen. Its actually really distracting to read on. Customer service said they have a fix coming out in the next few days so we’ll see how it is after. The Kindle itself is fine. The larger screen is nice and the color looks really nice on an e-ink screen. Not super bright but its not a tablet. Dont buy an e-reader thinking its going to be a tablet. I would recommend waiting to see if a fix comes through before purchasing. It’s a shame that Amazon released such a requested product in the state that its in.

[Rewarded Review] Get the 12th gen PW or PW SE
16 November 2024

So instead of doing the trade on Amazon I decided to sell my 11th gen PW SE with hopes of becoming an iPad mini 7 girlie. Well that was so nice reading on my new mini but I missed the form factor of a kindle, waterproof and having a distraction free device so I decided to get the 12th gen PW SE after a big price mislabeling and rewards I broke even after buying a case for it so no love or money lost. Welllll I was having FOMO like why did I settle when I knew I wanted the colorsoft. So what did I do place an order at Best Buy to compare the two and let me just say I returned the colorsoft after literally 1 hr of testing it out. I did not think it was terrible grain since I wear glasses, set the bold to max and read at a 12pt font but putting the two side by side I knew I made the right decision by getting the 12th edition. The 2 main things that the colorsoft failed on were the darkness of the screen and the death yellow bar on the bottom and side/s. I would wait guys or get a iPad mini or kindle fire with matte screen protector to read in color. I did quickly realize that I do enjoy reading on the mini if I want color so until Amazon fixes this my 12th gen PW SE and mini 7 are perfect. I read that it could be a adhesive issue which is a hardware not software fix and I am upset that Amazon has not addressed and pulled this entirely and went back to the drawing board. They see that kindle lovers couldn’t wait for this but they should have had better QCers and randomly sent these to customers to review vs influencers. Unless it’s sent to me or given/bought for me I wouldn’t buy the colorsoft.

[Rewarded Review] Hilariously bad -- a failure of a product
2 November 2024

I cannot believe Amazon has such contempt for their customers. Where do I begin?1. The screen is so dim that you need at least 75% backlight to read it in indoor conditions. For reference, the Paperwhite series can be read with zero backlight indoors in normal light.2. Text is more grainy than ever. There is still ghosting in the backgrounds.3. Thousands, if not tens of thousands of new Colorsoft Kindles have shipped with a defective yellow-tinged stripe along the bottom of the display. When I contacted Amazon they refused to send me a new one, because it sounds like they've had so many calls about these being defective.Massive failure of quality control and design.

[Rewarded Review] I LOVE!
4 November 2024

Absolutely love it! Colors are very vibrant. Exactly what I wanted. Despite all the negative reviews I really haven’t found any bad issues. The yellow line issue is being worked on by Amazon (supposedly a software problem). In my few days of using it the yellow line has gone away for me. It’s wonderful for Amazon’s first color e-reader. If you’re particular about those things it may not be for you. But it’s definitely FOR ME!

[Rewarded Review] So disappointed
16 November 2024

Just got mine today and was very excited to have a Kindle in color. While the color is amazing and def enhances the Kindle experience, the yellow band at the bottom and the graininess of the screen are too distracting while reading. I like reading with cooler colors and the brightness on lower settings, but the yellow bottom stands out so bad on cooler colors and the overall graininess of the text makes my eyes strain after an hour or so of reading. Sad to return because the color is awesome but there are too many QC flaws for this high of a price tag and it makes me worried about how it will hold up overall in the future. Sorry Amazon, total miss on this one.

[Rewarded Review] Terrible quality control from amazon - Yellow band
15 November 2024

I’ll start with the positives. It’s the first kindle with color and it’s the fastest kindle made… however… make sure to manage expectations about ANY color ebook reader for the fact that they will be less clear/grainy due to the color filter. My eyes are sensitive to resolutions and clarity on tv’s computer monitors, etc, so it’s something that definitely doesn’t look as appealing to me. From a normal reading distance though, it’s not too bad. Compared to the traditional black and white kindle paper white, the overall brightness of the colorsoft is lower because of the added color layer and the overall hue is more blue. It feels closer to a dim LCD screen in certain brightness settings. If you primarily read black and white text, stick with the paperwhite. The color ... MoreI’ll start with the positives. The color covers are nice to see, but the rest of the tradeoffs aren’t worth it. For the biggest negative that’s all over the news right now… I’ve tried two different colorsofts and both have had the infamous yellow banding issue at the bottom and sides of the display.

I really enjoy this E-reader, I know it does not have the buttons like the Oasis and some are complaining about the yellow line, which I don’t seem to notice. I love simplicity when it comes to my E-reader, because, well, that is it’s purpose. Would it be great for Kindle to team up with other book sources and make it easy to download from there, yes, of course. But i’s not impossible. In my opinion, I love this Kindle and it works for me and my lifestyle, other people are more Avid readers than myself and maybe they need those other e-readers with the option to write in them and so on. But if you’re a person who enjoys reading and loves to see the books in your device in color and does not mind being in the Kindle/Amazon loop, but also putting in some extra effort ... MoreI really enjoy this E-reader, I know it does not have the buttons like the Oasis and some are complaining about the yellow line, which I don’t seem to notice. [Rewarded Review] Yellow at bottom of screen
5 November 2024

I want to love this Kindle, but mine has the yellow tinge at the bottom of the screen. The device is “sold out”, which I assume is due ro the mass screen issues, so my only option is to return it. Ideally, I want to get an exchange when they have the screen figured out. I contacted Amazon about a replacement since they have a disclaimer about this screen issue and option for a replacement on their product page. I was told that Best Buy would need to contact them for a replacement. Needless to say, I am frustrated with my lack of an exchange option at this point in time.
