If you can get this Ryzen 5 3600 @ $100 or less and pair with a $60-$80 motherboard b450 or x470 motherboard, then you have a really great platform to build from. It will provide what's needed to figure out your specific use and needs. From there, you can look at upgrades or switching to an intel platforms. Currently, Ryzen 5 5600 (non x) are going for @ $130 on New. If that's the case, it's definitely worth the extra $30. You'll want to pair that with at least a b550 or x570 board, if you can get one of them in the $80 to $100 range. I've paired this CPU with lots of different GPUs, like the 580 4GB/8GB, 1060 6GB, 1650 4GB, 1660 Super 4GB, 1070 8GB. The 5700xt @ $180 would be great. Great IGP for modest gaming in a mini ITX PC

I bought this for a mini itx HTPC build. I used an Asrock B450 Fatal1ty mini ITX motherboard in a small RGEEK L80 case that is 200mmx200mmx80mm. It looks very mac mini like.I am replacing a Gigabyte BRIX AMD A8-5557m based machine.The 3400G has better GPU performance than the old BRIX. The old BRIX couldn't play anything modern. It struggles too much. The 3400G does let me play a more modern variety of games. Some games do require me to drop to 720p with medium details, others can run at 1080p.The 3400G will not stand against a dedicated discrete midrange or higher GPU but for a tiny PC build with some gaming chops it is fantastic.I wanted small, cool, and quiet as my requirements. The Wraith Spire as a pack in cooler is fine and if this was a non HTPC build, I would have used it but for this build the Noctua made more sense.It's hard to review a cpu on it's own. The whole build has to be evaluated. That being said, the shortcomings of this build I feel are based on my other component selections. The one thing I would not change is the 3400G.

The PC build from hell

So I bought this chip in hopes of building my first pc. The chip arrived fairly fast for international shipping, about 2 or 3 weeks, but regardless, when I attempted to build the pc after other compatible parts arrived I could never actually get the build to post. Countless hours were spent in attempt to get anything out of the chip but nothing occurred. I even sought professional help and they could not get the CPU to work. The chip arrived fairly fast for international shipping, about 2 or 3 weeks, but regardless, when I attempted to build the pc after other compatible parts arrived I could never actually get the build to post. Countless hours were spent in attempt to get anything out of the chip but nothing occurred. I even sought professional help and they could not get the CPU to work. With the new board the pc turned on for maybe 5 seconds but never posted. Thankfully the third board that I was using had a EZ debut indicator so I could finally figure out what parts were bad and the only light that was on was the CPU light. This then leads to several long trips back and forth to the Computer shop in an attempt to figure out why the CPU indicator light was on. The service technician expected the chip, did not notice any bends, and tried to use separate CPUs to start up the pc. As soon as he put in a different 3400g CPU the pc booted up with no problem. Sadly they didn't have the 3400g at reputable retail shop. The technician also used a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, which they had in stock and the pc started up even faster. At this point the tech said the chip was bad and that I should return it. And to think, the Ryzen 5 3600 chip from a retail shop was all I needed to get my build up and running. Now I am on here typing on the pc that was the build from hell. Would definitely not do this again.

I bought two of these CPUs running in 2 slightly different setups. Motherboard, bios version, memory the same, cooling and case different. Using the integrated graphics in both. I haven't tried the stock cooler, instead I bought two bigger coolers, one with a 12cm fan with a big pc case and a smaller with a 9.2cm fan for a smaller case. I've found that the GPU clock and performance is dependent on the gpu/cpu temperature and the cooling. Using a smaller or stock cooler might affect the performance so make sure you get the right fan speed settings in bios. You should get a mostly constant 1400Mhz on the gpu while gaming after some warmup period to avoid stuttering gaming. Just had to adjust the fan speeds slightly on the smaller cooler.

was exactly as the seller described, one pin was broken off in the corner and a few bent ones. these were easily fixed with an 0.5 mechanical pencil and a razer blade/sewing needle to straighten. to solder on the broken pin required a loupe and work with a very fine tweezers and hot air rework station with kapton tape. the CPU worked 1st try in ASROCK AB350 Pro4 motherboard and now is my son's computer.

I bought a used ryzen 3600. After watching some reviews, the 3600 is supposed to be equally capable as the more expensive 3600x. I tried to give the cpu a mild overclock to match the 3600x (on paper), and i was able to get it there. I was also able to give the infinity fabric a mild overclock to 1700 to pair with 3400mhz ram. This was less of an overclock than expected. Paired with a 280mm radiator, I keep the cpu in the low-mid 80's under full load - which is a bit higher temps than i would have expected. However, after getting the OC just right (took about an hour of fiddling around), this CPU has been tremendously stable, and a solid performer. Its neat that my cpu came with a ryzen 7 5800 sticker
