This processor and PC build is only used for office work and multimedia, so I cannot comment on the gaming side of it. As far as the built in graphics go, I don't think is a huge improvement relative to the older counterpart: connecting the PC to a large 4K display I don't see any improvement at all with the details of the display settings. I was able to install more RAM into this build, so the APU is able to use more memory if it needs to. I build PCs with whatever hardware is the best for the budget. I had an AMD K6-2, Intel Pentium 3, 4, AMD Athlon 64, AMD Phenom II X4 & X6, and switched to Intel for the 3000 & 4000 series, and ran a media server on an FX-8350 for years. Intel dominated CPU performance since really 2009. But Intel got stale. From the 3rd generation Intel i-series CPUs until until AMD dropped their Ryzen processors, you never felt like you got a good value for your money. Now, there is real competition and AMD has been pushing Intel for a solid 5 years now. Lookup benchmarks, compare the games or software you're running, but consumers are winning with the back and forth between the two companies.

I built a new system from scratch, and I wanted a powerful and versatile CPU that would handle a range of tasks gracefully and wouldn't break the bank. I went with the Ryzen 5 5600G (integrated graphics) because I wasn't ready to fork out the kind of money that GPU's are fetching right now. I paired this processer with an MSI B550 Mag Tomahawk mobo, 32 GB of G.Skill 3200 RAM, and an EVGA B5 series 750 Watt power supply. Before installing the cpu I flashed the motherboard BIOS as per the manufacturer's instructions. It was a simple and straightforward process. Upon completion of my build the system booted right up and has been running like a dream ever since (2-1/2 months). The Wraith Stealth cooler included with the cpu is extremely quiet, and keeps the temps low. I don't play the latest, greatest FPS games. My go-to games are Sniper: Ghost Warrior, Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, and 7 Days to Die. I sometimes game for hours at a time, and pull a consistent 30 -35 fps in all my games at moderate settings. I think this is more than acceptable for integrated graphics. (For comparison, my 2-year-old Ryzen 5 3500U laptop with Vega graphics would pull around 11 fps at the same settings). The highest my cpu temps have gotten is 70 degrees C (about 158 degrees F). The machine has been reliable and stable, with no issues at all. I call this Ryzen 5 5600G a winner, and I'm looking forward to being able to pair it with a powerhouse GPU once prices come down a bit.

If you are looking for a powerful desktop, workstation or gaming processor that is also affordable....this processor covers it all. Works well, runs most big games like Enlisted at 38-45FPS. Great for budgets builds. Make sure to download the drivers to activate the graphics when you install this CPU. My games ran well, I am waiting for GPU prices to drop so this does the job good enough. When playing Enlisted, I had frames up to 45FPS to a steady 37FPS. If you are playing Apex Legends and you are a serious gamer, get a GPU. This CPU ran Apex at 30fps to 26FPS so just grab a GPU for that. And if you for some reason only game on Roblox, this CPU is completely capable of running max graphics on it lol. The shipping was very fast and I love this CPU! Good Bang for the Buck

I bought this processor as part of a new PC build. I wanted decent performance for everyday computer use with some ability to do light gaming. No need for overclocking or big CPU cooling. I also wanted the built-in GPU to avoid buying one of the currently-overpriced separates. Plus no extra fans keeps the overall build almost dead silent. This processor fits the bill. Used in conjunction with an m.2 SSD and 16GB of 3200 memory on a B550 chip set motherboard, my Windows 11 desktop pops up in less than 3 seconds after POST on power up! Very impressive.

Good Choice for Win10 to Win11 Compliant Upgrade
10 November 2021

Like many, my prior PC and mobo didn't make the Win11 h/w-firmware requirements cut. So I set out to find a medium priced system configuration that would be Win11 compliant and hopefully gain in system performance. One of the needs I had was for a CPU that also had integral graphics capability like my previous Intel Core i7-4790K (a great processor for desktops in its day). I was initially put off by AMD chips for lacking integral graphics. But the recent G models nixed that concern. I then did a price/performance check of AMD vs. Intel to find a middle-of-the-road solution. The AMD RYZEN 5 5660G kept appearing as a very competitive processor for both price and performance. The 5600G is paired with an ASUS TUF Gaming x570-PRO mobo with 32GB memory. This configuration meets the requirements for Win11 and exceeds my expectations. I'm not looking back. A good choice for my office desktop computing needs.

They love Fortnite and Minecraft plus have a PS5, but theyre hooked on PC, but dont care about enthusiast level graphics and performance. I was able to get Fortnite running 1080P epic with textures and view distance, shadows were down but anti aliasing was high and runs smooth like 45 FPS, so it can run 60 FPS with textures turned down, but not needed. Minecraft was easily smooth and it ran Apex no problem. Luckily I can drop a GPU in later, but Yeesh by this time next year a 6600g might be out. Game performance seems to be on par with a 5700G. Ive been considering this setup for myself with the new GeForce Now ... MoreIm a terrible dad, I turned my kids GPUs that I bought into mining gear and now built them computers running off the 5600G. Ive been considering this setup for myself with the new GeForce Now offering a streaming service that provides RTX 3080 performance. Its definitely worth a shot, resell value is so high. Itll only depreciate more than 10-20$ if you were to damage it. I have bought multiple of these, I have had no trouble with boards that were using 5000 series to begin with and Ive had no trouble with brand new boards, Ive had great luck with boards that were using 3000 series before, but only issues I had were when I bought used motherboards or refurbished motherboards. I still have 3000 series chips to help with bios and all, but If youre building from scratch and youre buying a second hand or refurbished board, then good luck, my fail rate is like 60% with the boards, but to have backup boards to see that its not the CPUs fault. Just pointing that out, because you can run into all kinds of stuff, cable loose, ram bad, psu gone bad, Ive had a case with a bad power button, to just swap everything over to another case to find out its just the power button. I support second hand, I havent had any issues with second hand boards from trusted sellers on eBay, but I have from some of the so called top refurbishers found on Amazon and they can be found on eBay too, I dont believe theres much quality control happening on their end, when like new is Like Broken Actually and its why it was returned in the first place, then reboxed/refurbished whoops! Glob on the thermal paste strap on the easy diy fan and have some fun!

Nice Processor for office PC with some light CAD work
8 October 2021

I work for a small architectural firm and one of the owners wanted a new PC. He doesn't do much drafting at this point but he does still use AutoCAD on occasion. The PC is used mostly for accounting, emails and MS Office. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a graphics card so I got this Ryzen processor with the integrated graphics. The only issue I had was the processor was not recognized by the motherboard BIOS. This was because the processor was so new and the motherboard was an early B550 Asus that was built before this processor was released. I was able to update the BIOS by taking a compatible processor out of one of my personal PC's and installing it temporarily into the MB. So if you are looking at this processor, make sure you have a motherboard with an ... MoreI work for a small architectural firm and one of the owners wanted a new PC. I was able to update the BIOS by taking a compatible processor out of one of my personal PC's and installing it temporarily into the MB. So if you are looking at this processor, make sure you have a motherboard with an updated BIOS or have a way to do an update (ie - get a MB with a way to flash the BIOS via USB or an older compatible CPU on hand). The included fan keeps the processor temps in check for the most part once I adjusted the fan curve in the motherboard software. Out of the box temps were 42* C at idle and I was able to hit the 95* C max stressing it with Cinebench. I made the fan curve a bit more aggressive and was able to get idle temps in the upper 30's and keep max temps in the upper 70's. Not great but just fine for this application. It won't be stressed very often at all. Speed wise, it is great with the Samsung M.2 SSD we installed. Programs load and close very quickly and there are not pauses. The boss is happy so far so I am too. Definitely recommended for a light duty office PC.

Reel in your iGPU expectations.
4 October 2021

My use case is 4k60 media center mATX machine that will never get a discrete GPU. Great CPU, not sure what else to say about Zen 3. Despite the lower cache compared to x parts, it still blows away the 3700x in my main system. (Single core synthetics) The iGPU on the other hand is... overhyped. Is it faster than Intel's desktop offerings? Yes. But at $250 (what I paid for it) I'm not sure that it's worth the price difference. 10400 would probably do the job just as well. I've been able to run Warzone, but even with 3600 cl16 RAM it's not what I'd call playable. Older games run fine at 1080p with some tweaks. I went through a fair amount of reviews before grabbing it and expected more. User benchmark is reporting as under average performance. That could be due to stock cooler not keeping up or the abysmal power delivery on my Asus B550m Prime motherboard. I'd give it 5 stars if it was cheaper. I'm pretty curious what RDNA APUs with DDR5 can do but this is not the silver bullet for the GPU shortage.

Very good APU at a very good price
11 July 2022

This APU is a fantastic value. The graphics performance is very good as is the CPU performance. I have a computer with the 5700G APU and the performance between it and the 5600G is negligible for 95% of use cases. The 5600G actually overclocks better than the 5700G. It runs stabile at 4.6 ghz and 2500 mhz for graphics. I highly recommend this APU for 95% of what typical users need from a computer. In a pinch it can even run games decently on low settings using 1080p resolution. Or medium to high settings using 720p resolution. For the current price of $159 this APU is a terrific bargain.
