The 5700X is very similar to my 5600X except two extra cores and better thermals. About 20% faster at rendering while consuming the same 78 watts of power and running 10 degrees cooler. Gaming performance is top stuff. Idle temps on my DRP4 around 30 degrees, max gaming of 72 degrees, max rendering of 58 degrees. It consumes a few extra watts while gaming but of course that's due to the extra cores. As with all AM4 chips, no expensive DDR5 required and great backwards compatibility on very affordable motherboards. The 5700X is cheaper than the 5600X used to be as well. Very hard to fault at this price point.

This Ryzen 5700X was bought to replace a Ryzen 2600 in a system built in 2018. It's amazing that a new CPU can be bought and used in a system that's more than four years old! For less than $200, the system is 178% faster at compiling (which measures the whole system, not just CPU). I'd say the 5700X is probably the best all round CPU from the Ryzen 5000 series. It performs as well in gaming as the 5800X but runs significantly cooler and requires less effort to cool, even with my be quiet! Pure Rock 2 it never goes above 60 degrees while gaming.I previously had a 5800X and while I was happy with the performance the temps and noise kind of turned me off with it regularly hitting 70+ even with a 260mm AIO, however I ended up getting this and found it offers identical performance but with lower temps on air than the 5800X did with the AIO.It performs perfectly in gaming, not all games need 8 cores and 16 threads but it is nice to know there's a bit extra when needed, it also means it performs especially well in average computing and daily usage ... The AMD Ryzen 7 5700x at $190 gives you the most performance per dollar. This is especially true when you enable PBO on Ryzen Master as this gives you essentially the same performance of the Ryzen 7 5800x. Using PBO yields a Passmark Price Performance (CPU Mark / $Price) of 148 for a processor that scores a CPUMark over 28,000. The 5700x temps stay under control when used with a good cooler - I used a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black. With PBO optimized for 115 watts the CPU stayed under 75 C on a multicore Cinebench R20 run. In light office work it draws 35 watts at 37 degrees C. Great processor for anyone using an AM4 motherboard.
Upgraded from a 3700x after switching platforms from a 6700k. The biggest jump was 6700k to 3700x, but the 5700x from the 3700x is noticeable in the titles that I play. The frame rates are 100% more consistent and higher overall compared to the 3700x. I was on the fence between this and the 5800x 3D right after 7000 series reviews flooded YouTube. However I’m in an ITX case and thermals are a big deal for me and with a 65W TDP at half the price I opted for this. A plus is that I can undervolt even further while learning that the 5800x 3D can’t and the voltage is locked in. My CPU hits peaks of 70-72C while consistently being at mid-high 60s. The rep at micro center also recommended this over the 5800x 3D paired with the 3070 and for half the price, I’m happy with my purchase.

AMD should sort out their packaging though, as there is no need for a box that is made for a CPU and cooler when you are only buying the CPU, I would not mind so much if a cardboard filler was inside, but no just lots of plastic. The CPU itself had no issues at all, the ASUS X570 motherboard had the original BIOS installed and still the CPU was recognised and worked flawlessly. The BIOS was updated to the latest a few hours later, but no real difference was seen in performance or stability. I bought this a few weeks ago and the results are mixed. Overall the processor is an excellent upgrade from my R5 1600, and when the CPU runs without issue the performance gains in both productivity and gaming workloads is substantial. The issues I have experienced is on the motherboard side. Currently, the CPU is paired with a b450 mobo and I have experienced some issues in high CPU workloads where the power phases fail to deliver the required power to the part. I have worked to isolate this problem by swapping the PSU and making all necessary updates in both firmware and software to the point where I have reduced the crashes to one crash for every 3-4 hours under load, not ideal. I would recccomend upgrading to a B550 at a minimum to run this CPU.
