Dull & Pinchy

These clippers were more dull straight out of the box than a pair of clippers I have that are several years old. It felt dangerous to try to keep using them as I had to apply a lot of pressure, risking a slip. The handles also pinched me twice just under my index finger leaving a bruise each time. I gave up after that, tossed these into the trash, and got out my old pair. Still on the hunt for a really good pair of clippers.

Sharp, sturdy, gives a safe clean cut quickly every time. My Bichon finds getting his nails trimmed an easy job with these nail clippers. Too big for the nails of my havanese though.

These toenail clippers are very solid, sturdy, sharp and well made. I handle them comfortably and confidently in my larger woman sized left hand. I can see the Yellow Lab and Beagle's quick quite well in the sunshine, or a lantern flashlight beneath their nails (not easy). But since these clippers are sharp and easy to handle, I use the same rule of thumb: if you definitely can't see the quick, just clip off the pointed end of the nail, 1/16 of an inch at the most. And they do have a guide to keep you from cutting off too much. This is sufficient to cut the nail and gain the confidence in your pup to let them know you know what you're doing, (?) so you will build their trust needed for the next time. The Blessing is, the quick in each nail will slowly recede over a long period of time of just clipping a little bit at a time on a regular basis, perhaps once a month. In summary, these are excellent clippers for my Lab and Beagle. And although the advertisement says the clippers are for dogs of all sizes, they are awkward for me to cut the nails on my Chihuahua's small, fragile "chicken legged" feet. I need to get her smaller clippers. But for the stockier small, and medium and large sized dogs, I think these are really the Best!

Great pair of clippers!
13 February 2019

I am thrilled with these clippers. I needed new ones, the old ones were dull, hurt my hand, and made clipping nails rough on me and the four kids. These however, are top notch!!!! They cut nail time down to just a few minutes, Easy on my hands, and cut right through my pugs rock-hard nails.Nail time is always hardest on him. His nails were badly overlooked when I got him, and because of that they grew silly. I have to be extremely careful because of that, and both him and I are usually nervous wrecks when I'm done. Not this time!!!!A big thank you to the company that makes them, and to Chewy for selling them!!!

Not a fan of these clippers
6 April 2021

My old pair of clippers is going on three years old, so I figured I should get a new, sharper pair. I saw this brand had better reviews than my other pair, so I figured I'd give them a try. Unfortunately, they do not work my 50 lb dog.... First off, these clippers are almost twice the size as my previous ones. They are not very easy to hold in your hand or use. Secondly, I do not find them to be the sharpest clippers, and my pup dislikes this pair even more than the last. Lastly, the nail guard seems to leave wayy too much room - it is not flush against the clippers, but actually bends away from them. I am very worried I am going to cut the quick of her nails with these. I have put these aside and will continue to use my old pair for the time-being.

Not great for professional use. Becomes wobbly
30 December 2019

These have not been lasting for me from a professional point. I do trim alot of nails at work and have become disappointed in this particular one and another . I have had basic clippers last a year at least but these I have bought a few times thinking I got a dud each time. They get wobbly at the screw like it is stripped. I actually had to use a fix it in a pinch solution and add a quick fix searching in my bathroom for the shower head tape because it would not stay tight . I have to keep hand tightening the screw which is annoying and ridiculous like it is stripped after barely few months old . May be fine for home grooming but not for professional use unless andis sent out a bulk of bad shipments to vendors . Not large enough for my pitbull
4 May 2024

When I bought these clippers, I could have sworn the description said they were for extra-large nails. I apparently read it incorrectly. No way will they cut my dog's dew claws, and they require some hand strength to cut the rest of her claws! Also, a couple of her claws shredded, as opposed to being cut cleanly. If your dog has large nails, look elsewhere.

Too big for my 40-lb dogs
3 May 2023

We've been clipping our two dogs' nails since 2016 and 2017, and our old nail clipper was getting dull and starting to chip their nails so after browsing the options and reading reviews we ordered this clipper to replace it.From the start, both of our dogs were noticeably very uncomfortable with this clipper. On the second use we nicked two consecutive quicks on one dog so we have stopped using it altogether and I guess I will have to just donate it. We'll probably just cough up the cash to have their nails trimmed at our vet's office from now on.

Tough Dog Nails Are No Problem
6 March 2021

I have 5 cocker spaniels and they do not like having their nails trimmed. I had a guillotine style dog nail clipper that was not doing the job. I researched for a dog nail clipper that was heavy duty and could properly trim thick dog nails. The Andis Pet Nail Clipper was the most recommended online. I was amazed at how easily the Andis pet nail clipper did the job. The blades are very sharp and the cuts were smooth and clean. My dogs hardly noticed their nails being trimmed. I highly recommend the Andis pet nail trimmer. It made an ordeal I dreaded doing into a simple grooming nobrainer.
