However this phone is over £1000 so out of most people's reach.I needed a battery bank for those extended periods away from the charger whilst being reasonably priced too. There are so many offerings out there, however being lithium Ion battery technology there are many safety concerns. If the internal battery is poorly managed, it can result in overheating and exploding batteries. This is where Anker springs to mind, after reading many reviews, their battery banks seems well priced and very reliable.I opted for the 10,000mAh version, which comes similar sized to the actual galaxy S6 phone. With its capacity, it can charge the phone 3 times, therefore perfect for those extended periods away from a charger.I managed to wait for one of those offer days and bagged it for £17.Upon arrival, I was very pleased at the build and quality of the battery bank. It comes very nicely packaged too.The included cable is of great quality and not a cheap Chinese cable that will last a few weeks. It also features a small LED indicator showing its current charged capacity which is a nice touch. The bank also featured power IQ and voltage boost charging. This was very noticeable when charging my galaxy S6, it charged much faster than the original 2 amp output wall charger. This was quite a surprise.I have now used this on many occasions, and it is a godsend from those extended periods away from the charger. It can also just about fully charge my Samsung tablet (TAB S - t800 model), this tablet has a 8000 mAh internal battery.Pretty impressive.Granted it is alittle bulky to carry around, ideally suited to place in a jacket pocket in winter. However during the summer periods you literally have to pocket it in your jeans, but being pretty slim its not too bad and worth it considering the benefits it gives.Purchased in De 2019 and still going strong to this day (Aug 2020)You can get various versions for your requirements, micro USB, USB C version and lighting connector version for Apple. They also do smaller versions if you feel this type is abit to big.A great reliable brand and a highly recommended purchase.

The cable supplied is standard USB to micro-USB.On the plus side, it is currently cheaper as there's a £5 discount and also a voucher available. As usual with Anker products, beautifully packaged and the box includes a carrying pouch as well as the supplied cable.Recharging my phone seems to work as expected (but only a partial recharge so far) so overall I am happy, but I think I would have been at least as happy with the older version (which my son happens to have, so I've been able to compare for real) if it had been the same price and it would have got the full 5 stars compared to the 4 I'm giving the newer one as I don't think its description or the LED indicators are as good.

Do not sacrifice power for portability with the Anker PowerCore II 10,000 mAh battery. Perfect for day hikes and Scout camping, without breaking the bank .Review:My 11-year-old son has progressed through Cub Scouts and is now a Scout within the Scouts BSA. This past weekend, we loaded up our cars and caravanned to Shiloh, TN to tour the Shiloh National Military Park. As a group of 20 strong, we set up camp and enjoyed the camaraderie/camp atmosphere. We got up early on Saturday morning, made breakfast, loaded our hiking backpacks with the essential items, and set off for the starting point at Shaw’s Store. With compass in hand, we started the 40 point monument adventure. As an example, we started at the concrete marker near Shaw’s store. The instructions told us to hike 58 degrees for 1900 feet to a red plaque for the 2nd and 7th Arkansas Infantry in the woods on the west side of Seay Field. Counting steps and navigating via compass, we trekked through the woods, over the open battlefield, and perused the instructional signs. If you are a fan of military sites, of history, or simply like to visit cool places, I would definitely recommend that you take a trip to Shiloh.Combined with a tent-camping experience, dutch-oven cooking, the educational weekend proved to be a blast. I took several pictures of the hike, of the kids enjoying the historical cannons/museum, and used the compass app on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Without power at my campsite, I needed a portable option to keep my iPhone 11 Pro Max charged. To cut down on weight, I purchased an amazing lightweight, portable charger from Anker. The Anker PowerCore II 10,000mAh battery arrived in a petite 3 15/16 inches square by 1 inches thick box. At first glance, you will notice the blue ANKER title along the top right of the cover panel and the PowerCore II 10000 name along the lower left of the panel. However, upon closer inspection, you will notice a detailed, slightly raised tech-like design hidden against the white backdrop. This added feature extended onto every surface of the packaging and enhanced the overall feel of the box. Both side panels provided the blue Anker name and listed “Charge Fast, Live More” motto, while the top and bottom panels remained unadorned. The back panel had a sticker-seal along the top, which thanked the user for choosing Anker. Additionally, the panel provided two icons (Faster Charging with Industry-Leading Technology, and 20 Million+ Happy Users and Counting) along the top, the PowerCore II 10000 name, the A1230 model number, that the device was an external battery/portable charger, the product manufacturing labels an SKU sticker, and trademarking information. To access the battery, I cut the tape along the top of the panel, lifted the flap, and then slid the inner box out of the outer shell. I loved the white on blue theme and was pleased to find the inner box used the same blue coloring as the “ANKER” name on the outer packaging.I lifted the lid of the inner box and removed the 2 7/16 inches wide by 3 3/4 inches long by 3/4 inches thick, plastic-wrapped, battery. Within a secondary compartment, I found a 23 1/2 inches long USB-Micro to USB-A cable and a 3 5/8 inches wide by 5 1/4 inches tall black-mesh, drawstring travel pouch. Like the cover paneling, the travel pouch was more than it appeared. The outer fishnet layer was matched with an inner fine mesh layer and provided a rather ingenious protective layer for the battery, both scratch and impact resistant. The bag may have been a little bigger than it needed to be, weighing in at 0.21 ounces. Since every ounce adds up, they could have eliminated nearly 1/2 inch of material from the top and side of the bag. This change would s/till allow the battery to stand upright within the outer shell. As it stands, you could turn the battery sideways and still nearly fit another battery within the bag. I liked that the included bag was big enough to include the charging cable because some companies forget to include that within their designs. Fully packed the 0.21-ounce travel bag (with blue ANKER fabric tag), the 6.80-ounce battery, and the 0.45-ounce charging cable weighed 7.51-ounces.The front panel of the black ANKER 10000 man battery showcased the matte-black, etched, ANKER name inline with the axis of the battery. On the opposite side of the cover, you will find a 9/16 inches diameter power button. The sides of the battery, like the front and back panels, had a ribbed texture instead of a smooth finish. The grippy texture enhanced the feel within my hands and seemed to reduce the chances of a drop. The bottom panel provided the product manufacturing labels, the product PowerCore II name, the battery size, model number, and specifications: 10050 mAh/3618Wh, PowerIQ 2.0 input 5V/2A 9/2A ~18W, PowerIQ 2.0 Output 5V/3A 9V/2A, 12V/1.5, and the ANKER name. The top panel provided a blue USB-A output port and a blue USB-micro input port. Although the device did not employ USB-C technology, you will be hard-pressed to find a lighter 10,000 mAh battery. The lightweight device was perfect for its portability and was an ideal candidate for my recent campout due to the palmable/pocketable size. Using a standard Apple USB-A to Lightning cable and a DROK USB-A multimeter, I tested the output of the battery. With the battery fully charged, I plugged the DROK USB-A cable into the sole power-out port on the battery. I plugged a lightning cable into the multimeter and then into my iPhone 11 Pro Max. The 3969 mAh battery charged at approximately 1% per minute, at a rate of 5.02V/2.06A. Assuming 80% efficiency, the 10,000 mAH battery should provide approximately 8000mAh of battery power. The company website promised 3 full charges for an iPhone 8 (1821 mAh), or 2 charges for an iPhone X (2716mAh Battery). Thanks to the 3969 mAh Anker PowerCore II Battery, I charged my iPhone 11 Pro Max twice from about 25% to full power. Compatible with most USB devices, the battery was designed for portability rather than technology superiority. It does not have a USB-C output, it does not support Power Delivery “PD” fast charging for Apple devices, it does not support passthrough charging, nor does it provide full-speed charging for some USB-C devices. However, you can fully charge the battery in about 3 hours, and it complies with aviation portable battery requirements, which will allow you to pack the battery into a carry-on bag. When it comes to portable batteries, bigger is not always better. I have several 20,000 mAh batteries and a 250W Power Station. Unfortunately, with the increased power and increased capabilities, you gain a significant amount of weight. Coupled with the portable bag, the Anker PowerCore II can easily fit into a cargo pocket, into an admit cubby in a backpack, or into a shirt pocket. If you want to attach the device to the outer webbing on a backpack, you can purchase a $10 upgraded Hermitshell Hard Travel Case for the Anker PowerCore II battery. Adding 2.68 ounces to the battery/charging cable, the clamshell case/battery weighed a total of 9.8-ounces. If desired, simply clip the included carabiner to a belt loop, to your backpack, or to a jacket. I liked that the accessory was available, I liked the $10 price point of the case, and I loved that you could decide for yourself if the upgrade was worth the $10. As an overall investment, I feel that $30 was more than reasonable for the 10,000 mAh battery/case. For day hikes and short camping trips, I do not think you will find a better value for weight/cost.

Fantastic. Had this awhile and it’s worked so well, I insisted my daughter take it
26 February 2020

On my last vacation week with my daughter, she mentioned that her friends are always asking to use her charger toward the end of the day/evening but then they have to split the charge because there’s never enough power to fully charge 2 phones. The sizes of our chargers were almost the same ( this one was slightly heavier than hers) and yet, I had charged or topped off my iPhone several times and finished partially charging my iPad and still had charge power left halfway into the week. That’s after I forgot to charge the thing before I left on the trip and it had been sitting on the shelf for a month. Best charger I’ve ever owned or seen for similar size. I liked that it held the charge for so long when it wasn’t being used so If I did need it fast, I didn’t have to ... MoreOn my last vacation week with my daughter, she mentioned that her friends are always asking to use her charger toward the end of the day/evening but then they have to split the charge because there’s never enough power to fully charge 2 phones. I liked that it held the charge for so long when it wasn’t being used so If I did need it fast, I didn’t have to worry so much about when I’d last charged it. So before I departed our vacation to go to our separate states, I pushed my daughter into taking my charger( this one). this one Is still small enough to fit fine in her pocketbook or hand . It didn’t feel right to know I would be at home basking in excess charging power when she would be out there eking out half charges and having to ration out the power among her friends ( who apparently don’t carry chargers, lol). First world problems. Nice to have. Felt good giving her something too that I know she can use that doesn’t take up valuable storage space anywhere. So yeah, this make a great gift for a millennial you care about because you know they are using a lot of phone battery Daily and their friends probably don’t carry chargers either.

Got rid of that nice rubberized side. Blue LEDs gone. Bigger. Power button on face???
10 December 2023

The previous design had a nice rubberized side which would sit nicely on a table on provide a nice phone to battery contact. They removed it for this hard plastic cross pattern which is not nice and looks and feels cheap. The previous model had blue LED lights to show battery level. This one has small white LED inside the power button. The power button on this one is in the center of the face instead of on the side. When you hold something like this your thumb naturally falls on the side, not on the center of the face like this. The edges of this are rounded making it look fat and like it's full of water. It looks cheap, feels cheap and IS cheap. The only reason I bought this was to get USBC. I absolutely hate these changes. It is bigger.... I want the power button back on the side.... I want my blue LED back... and get rid of this cheap plastic finish you chose!

Only one hiccup so far!
19 December 2023

I can't remember how long I've had this now. A year, at least? I bought it so I'd have extra charging power when I went to Disney or other places I wanted to film. It has never given me an issue until just about a month ago. Suddenly, it wouldn't seem to charge--or rather, it would but it took FOREVER. And then it lost its charge almost immediately. I was about to get really upset, given how short a time I've had it, until I read some help files online. If this ever happens to you, plug both ends of the USB cable into the battery for like 5 seconds (I still recommend reading the official advice, as I don't remember if it was more or less than 5!).Ever since I did that, the battery has gone back to working just as it did before. I think all technology has hiccups ... MoreI can't remember how long I've had this now. A year, at least? I think all technology has hiccups here and there, so I don't hold this one against the product or the company. It's come in super handy SO many times that I can't imagine going out for a day and NOT having it with me. Granted, it IS a bit heavier than I'd like, but if you carry around heavy purses all day, I don't think you'd notice this at all!

Slim and light weight, yet this one may be faulty...still recommend brand as a whole
17 April 2023

The charger is slim and light weight. 2/2 there.Intuitive to use...seemingly...what we mean here by that is the single button seems like it would be plug in the cord, plug in to device, and hit button. User guide corrected and instructed; however, we are having no luck charging from this and it has been fully charged up. 0/1 there. So, 2/3 is close to 3/5 and that is the reason for a 3-star review.Other items from Anker in the past have been great or fantastic (4 or 5 stars). Like their Soundcore II speaker and a fast-charging cable.

So handy to have!

I always let my phone discharge to a certain level before charging it, in order to lengthen the battery's life. Of course the time to charge it often seems to come up when I'm not at home or at a place where I can plug it in, so the Anker PowerCore 10K is wonderful for those times. It charges my phone very rapidly.Overall, I am very happy with this device. The one thing that seems lacking is that the charging cord that came with it doesn't have a very sturdy plug on the micro-USB end. The metal shaft on mine is already bent upward for some reason I don't understand and doesn't stay tightly connected to the phone, so I keep having to check to make sure it hasn't fallen out, which is annoying. The metal shaft on mine is already bent upward for some reason I don't understand and doesn't stay tightly connected to the phone, so I keep having to check to make sure it hasn't fallen out, which is annoying. I have had this device only a little over a month and have used it only about 5 times, so it's disappointing that this is already failing. The little mesh carrying bag for the device is also nice to have since I keep it in my purse, but carrying the charging cord in it is tricky because the plugs have a tendency to snag the mesh and also to scratch the finish on the device if not carefully wrapped. Is there a different kind of design that might solve those problems? It would also be great if your website would offer a step-by-step pictorial instruction on using this device for those who are not extremely tech-savvy. The little folder that came with it is just not enough for anyone who hasn't used one of these before and may still be learning about the different kinds of technology, the most basic things like, what is a Micro-USB, what is a USB Type C, where do I plug this device in to charge it vs how to plug my phone into it to be charged, and more technical info like how do I know when I need to recharge the power bank, and how do I avoid overcharging and shortening its life? I liked mine so much that I bought one to give a friend as a gift, but she is a very non-tech person and I had to write out instructions for her. I couldn't find anyplace online that explained those things in an easy-to-find and easy-to-understand fashion. Most people have cell phones, but there are many (like seniors) who don't have experience with other kinds of technology and have no way of figuring this out. You might sell more of these if the instructions came with them to show exactly how to use them, without assuming the consumer already knows that.

The Anker PowerCore II 10000mAh
22 November 2020

The Anker PowerCore II 10000mAh was my choice as a power bank due to many positive reviews. There are many versions of the same product. The second version appealed to me for its shape and size along with the faster charge times for both the Anker PowerCore itself 4hrs over the 7hrs of the original version, and to charge for compatible fast charge devices quicker than the original. The new version II has a clock face dial to show how much charge and power is left. A single push click of the dial shows this information. While charging other devices this remains lit, and as it runs down each of the 8 lights will go out anti-clock ways. The newer version maybe slimmer but it has a larger diameter which does not suit me. When I got the Anker PowerCore II 10000mAh it was much smaller than I had imagined, I was doubtful it would suit my needs in terms of power, however, I was in for a pleasant shock. I only needed at least 4hrs of continuous recording, but 6 hours would be optimal for a whole shore fishing session from low tide to high.In my tests, I used a DJI Osmo Action at 4k 60fps with a Samsung Evo Select 256Gb SD Card. I set the screen "while recording setting" to turn off after 1min, but I often turned this on during the test. The DJI was fully charged as was the Anker PowerCore. I did this test indoors but at the window with the window slightly open as it was raining outside. I set it to record and it continues to the capacity of the memory card which was 340min or 5hr 40min. By the time the memory card was full, it used only half the Anker PowerCore power leaving 4 lights remaining of the 8.I am aware in very cold temps this can drain battery time, and is a test I am yet to do, but going by this test it shows leaving half the power it should offer a 6hr power time at 4k 60fps with ease. During this test, my DJI did get very hot with an on-screen warning but did not shut down. The second test was at 4k 25fps, a frame rate I would more likely to use for shore fishing as it's not fast-paced action needing higher frame rates. The memory card still stored the same footage at 5hr 40min, not sure why when 60fps is significantly more data? This time there were no heat issues and to my shock only used 2 of the 8 lights, again that's 5hr 40min of continuous recording at 4k 25fps.Last test was again 4k 25fps but this time with the front screen on the whole duration of 5hr 40min. No heat issues showed up and this time it used 4 or the 8 lights, very impressive.I have yet to try it outdoors but these initial tests show for such a small power bank it holds a huge amount of power. During use, it never heated up even slightly. Going by these results I would highly recommend this for any action camera. Its very small, light it weight and built well.Dan

seems to work fine; need instructions
17 December 2022

I seem to have plugged the right cords into the right outlets, from Anker to iPhone to electrical outlets etc. in the right order. But no way to know for sure until it blows up/doesn't work, etc. PLEASE include complete simple instructions with illustrations. It is assumed that everyone knows what the lights mean, how to tell it's charged, which ports are for charging the device vs charging the phone, etc. We didn't all grow up with computers surgically attached. Without intelligent instructions, presumed lack of technical knowledge/skill of entire generations is perpetuated. Knock it off. Sincerely, An Elder It's Time to Show Respect
