Not all power distribution hub is the same is an understatement. My advice do take time to go over the product specs😀 1st one i bought is only capable of a 50 watt power output thus is incapable of sufficiently supplying juice to my dell laptop powered by a 65 watt adapter. I always get the notification ise power adapter that came with the device. Hopefully this one performs to expectation. Anker whats up?? You claim to be able to provide 85 watts. My device dont seem to agree!😞😞

Anker support is amazing, Working on resolving ethernet issues on all hubs.

Mine would not stay stable at 4k/30hz I had to move it to my 1080P monitor for it to stay stable.I thought this device would support 4K60 video and USB3.1 data, however my 2017 machine only has displayport 1.2 so I'm stuck at 1080p/60Hz, This is because of this new technology this adapter takes advantage of.The words “DisplayPort” or “1.4” don’t appear anywhere in the item description. One of the product photos contains some (non-searchable) text that says “please confirm your device supports DP 1.4”, but it’s very easy to miss. The manufacturer’s web site does mention DP1.4 in the text, but it’s way down the page in a troubleshooting footnote. So you may need to dig through the technical specs or download the manual in order for confirm DisplayPort 1.4 support when buying.

Excellent Product, Excellent Service.

Yes, the product is excellent. I use a pair in two identical setups (MacBook Pro M1, 5TB Seagate HDD for the Time Machine, this hub (B087QZVQJX), and the 100W Anker charging station (B07VSMK849)).I have tested all the ports and all behave as expected. Read the rest of the review to see a problem I had (that you might be encountering as well) and the interaction with Anker support.Problem: in one of the systems the hub went unusually and constantly hot (around 122F/50C), with the attached charger significantly warm (95F/35C). I have a degree in electronic components, so I was not exactly alarmed by the temperature (the rule of thumb is that it's still OK if you can touch it) but I was definitely thinking that one component or another will fail pretty soon.So - I ... MoreYes, the product is excellent. I have a degree in electronic components, so I was not exactly alarmed by the temperature (the rule of thumb is that it's still OK if you can touch it) but I was definitely thinking that one component or another will fail pretty soon.So - I called the Anker US support number. First thing: a real person (Malcolm) answered right away.Stating upfront that at all times Anker will back me up with a replacement no questions asked, he registered my claim, gave me a ticket number back, yet he suggested that I should maybe try first to swap the components between the computers and see if the problem is indeed with the hub and/or the charger or not. Which I did. Both the chargers and the hubs were OK. A problem with the backup drive (later determined to be caused by a low quality connection cable Seagate provided with their external HDD) was causing Time Machine to perpetually and unsuccessfully attempting to write backups to the disk. After replacing the cable and re-formatting the disk, the power situation normalized. Both setups draw now about 3-4 Watts (and are essentially cold) when the Macs are sleeping and 25-40W (and are barely warm) in operation. Before you ask: when isolated (not connected to anything) the charger and the hub together barely draw around/under 0.2 watts if my Class-1.0 power meter is right.

Functional but feels cheap Charging might not work
2 November 2023

It is one of the very few hub that has two HDMI port, and a detachable cable. It is from Anker, a reputable brand. Even though it is a entry level device, it really does feel quite cheap.I initially bought it for the Mrs, who uses a laptop that needs 65w power. When using the stock charger, laptop complains about slow charging, which we don't mind. I realised later the hub itself needs 15w to run. We also bought a longer cable so we can hide the hub with all the cabling. I later bought another one for my laptop, which comes with 130w charger. Due to limitation of the hub, it can only provide max 85w, which again, I don't mind. I don't mind the laptop being slow charged. Great dual-monitor hub
7 September 2023

I've had it for a few months now and it works great on my Lenovo laptop. Very small and portable, great to have the Ethernet port also. Cheaper than some of the other dedicated USB-C docks especially when on sale. PD pass-through works as long as you have a large enough power supply (it will only pass through the wattage of the supply minus 15w). Dual monitors work flawlessly and work at 1440p (did not try 4k). I did try it on an older Dell laptop and it wasn't able to support both monitors at full resolution and resulted in some blurry text, so your results may vary. Does not provide dual monitors with macOS, but this was expected as macs do not support multi stream. It works like charm
22 February 2024

I bought this as my previous dock station from dell was noisy after using for a long hours. this noisy was causing mentally uncomfortable, therefore searching a new one in Amazon which I found this. it was really great and very quiet too. I love it and highly recommended to anyone who looking for one. Lastly you have to get a power adapter as it does provide one when you purchase it. I know what a bumper. For that I gave a 4 stars rating if not for that it will be 5 stars.Too bad Seller - you made me a bit of unhappy as i can't use it immediately and need to get another power adapter for it. no wonder your price is lower than other - you are tricky.Anyway, it's still a good product best of all it's small and portable to carry me around when I go overseas.Cheers.

Not perfect, but pretty close to it!

Good overall - Reliable, auto-detects well, enough ports for most of what you need - Another well made Anker product. That said - I've run into a video oddity. When I hook up two 27" 1080p monitors at the same time, one of them tends to have little "sparklies" come and go - minor pixel defects in the picture that show up in sparkling yellow or white or purple. Swapping out monitors w/ other spares - and swapping cables around - didn't do anything either. However - It's a minor nuisance, it doesn't really even interfere with normal use. Also important to note - This thing runs HOT if you are pushing your PD through it. I am using a min-65W Dell Vostro laptop, which means it requires at least 80W Input power (because the dock itself consumes around 15W). So far it’s fantastic and meets all expectations!

Just installed two days ago. It’s currently running dual monitors, a HD webcam, keyboard, and mouse all through the Anker 553 Hub. It’s so small I almost misplaced it in my delivery. Everything was plug and play and worked after seconds of plugging in. The monitors have about a 3-5 second delay when plugging in to the C-port, but as soon as the monitors display, the webcam, monitor and keyboard work as well. It has been plug and play from my personal computer (HP) and work computer (Dell). I read comments that it gets hot but so far I have only seen it warm to the touch and not hot at all. But then again, I’m running 2 Samsung curved monitors in 1080p not 4K. So far it hasn’t skipped a beat and have functioned flawlessly.
