I read a lot of reviews & I chose this Anova one & I’ve been nothing but happy with it. I did a roast last week(pictured). I set it for 125. When it came time to unseal & prepare to finish (sear), the internal temp did indeed read 125!!I’ve done fish, steaks, chicken and now a roast. Clean up is a cinch - since the unit is just in warm water, it doesn’t get “germs”. Just make sure it thoroughly dries, and store it back in its box!I highly recommend it. I’ve had it 6 months now & it does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

The Anova sous vide gadget was highly recommended by a friend, so I bought one off Amazon. I unpacked it, put it in a big stockpot of warm/hot water and set the temp and time for chicken thighs. The digital thermometer read the water temp at 112, then about 30 seconds later it was 111.6, then it went down to 111.2 and slowly kept cooling off. Luckily, I hadn't put the chicken in the water since I was waiting for it to get to 165 before starting the sous vide process. Chicken breast

A guest arrived and I was told that they only eat chicken breast, no seasoning, no oil, just completely. If I eat chicken breast I have a glass of water near me because I’ll choke. Americas favorite meat and I swear if I die, it will be from choking on white meat turkey or chicken. A friend told me my opinion would change if I Sous Vied it. She’s been raving about her creations all year. She was right. I had to play with times and temperatures but I’m a cook for a family so nothing goes to waste. I found 136° 2 1/2 hours made the best chicken breast I’ve ever had. I’ve seared it out of the cooker, waited hours and days before searing, not sear it but shred, or just cut the chicken in strips and assign it to anything at the end. But, also makes me realize there are so many more techniques to learn. Now I need to make candy with an immersion thermometer, fondant covered cakes, filo sheets. This machine took me out of a cooking lol and jump started a new thirst for cooking. My mind is coming up with endless ideas.

Cooker is great App not so much

The Nano works great. The App is awful. Doesn’t remember the connection from one use to the next. Need to remove and add in the Nano each time. Adding the Nano back in finds it instantly, why it can’t find it on its own from last use is perplexing. When added back won’t immediately allow cooking, says still can’t find the Nano. Need to force quit the app and then open it again and it works. Setting the temp and time? Set the temp and save and you get a blank screen with Anova Nano Cook at the top. Need to tap the drop down carrot to see the main screen again and then tap cook to get to the settings again. Tap timer and set time. Blank screen again. Tap the drop down to get to the main screen and then cook again to get back to the time and temp screen to finally ... MoreThe Nano works great. The App is awful. Excellent sous vide

I tried this out as my first sous vide. I like it a lot but I have discovered that there are two reasons why I might consider going for the upgraded versions if I were to buy it again. Firstly the Bluetooth drops out if you are not in the same room as the sous vide, it continues cooking perfectly fine but you don’t get notifications, the upgraded one has wifi connection so it will always be connected, the second is that it can take a little while to heat up for recipes which have a high cooking temperature. I think the upgraded version is a little more powerful. My solution has been to turn it on whilst doing the food prep and it’s really not an issue.Altogether the nano is adequate for what I need it for and it’s a perfect entry level sous vide if you’re thinking ... MoreI tried this out as my first sous vide. Great kitchen tools for prepping dinner or holiday

So handy for: heating up thick or thin slices of ham for Easter Dinner. Frees up the oven for other baked items. Doesn't dry out the ham.Gave this to our son-in-law on Christmas Eve...... The lobster tail was perfect.If you do a steak or filet the entire piece of meat will be the correct temp end to end. So if you like Med-Rare, you should consider cooking to Med temp.You only have to grill the filet roast/lamb loin for 10-15 min to brown the outside.Also I did the lamb loin & filet in the same pot, until the last 45min, then upped the temp for the filet.

Professional Results yet Ease of Use

Perfect results from the first use - no learning curve! Just set & go. This has taken my already excellent cooking game up another notch. I fought the sous vide “trend” like an old school chef for a long time. But I do enjoy it for touchy items, especially fish. Always thought Swordfish is tough? You won’t if you sous vide. If there are things you are tired of cooking because they are inconsistent- either under/over cooked, this is your answer.

Anyway my kids bought me a Anova Nano precision cooker for Christmas, it pretty much sat in my kitchen cabinet for a year. I decided finally to unpack it and give it a whirl, first I tried making a ribeye steak and finished it on a grill just to give it some charing and grill marks. Best steak I have ever eaten. I wanted it to be medium rare and it was made to perfection!!! Also tried making Chicken thighs, again done perfectly, moist, tender flavorful and of course a quick 2 minutes on the grill to add some Caramelizing and grill marks. Also tried making jumbo prawns, finally again done to perfection, flavorful, tender and above all they werenâ t rubbery. The app is seriously lacking

I purchased the "bluetooth" Nano specifically because I had read of difficulties connecting Anova's other devices through wifi. The cooker itself works great. Although, clearly connected through the app (I can set the temp and cook time through the app), I do not received push notifications when the desired temp is reached or when the cook time is over. For weeks now I've been working with Anova technical support to get the Nano to work properly with my iPhone 12 pro running IOS 16.3.1. All the settings are correct, and I'm clearly connected through bluetooth to the Nano. I've been asked to check my iCloud settings. What does that have to do with a bluetooth connected device? I've been asked to check my wifi settings. All the settings are correct, and I'm clearly connected through bluetooth to the Nano. I've been asked to check my iCloud settings. What does that have to do with a bluetooth connected device? I've been asked to check my wifi settings. What does that have to do with a bluetooth connected device? I've been told to use another cellphone to set up a wifi hot spot. What does that have to do with a bluetooth connected device? Over and over again, as instructed, I dumped the app and reconnected to the device...same result. I've been asked to check to make sure my device has the most recent firmware and if not to update it. There is nothing on their website that I can find listing the most recent firmware for my device or instructions on how to update it.To their credit they had me return my unit and sent a new one. I have the same results. I've tried 4 different iPhones using the same IOS. All of them connect to the device, but none of them receive the push notifications. You would think that when they sent the new device they would have made sure it has the most recent firmware considering all of the problems I've had, but once again I was asked to check to see if the device has the most recent firmware and to update it if not. I've asked how one goes about doing that with a bluetooth Nano. They haven't responded.
