I have been delighted using the Anova Precision Cooker for just under 2 years but alas, no longer! After cooking for over 24 hours, it has now decided to make an awful rattling noise. I checked present sealed bag for obstruction and tightened the clamp fitting to no avail. I have done an internet search on problems, removed the stainless cover, cleaned the unit, checked everything and reassembled. The unit worked OK for 10 minutes but the rattle reappeared.

I had a Nano which worked fine and still does; but as I have fallen in love with sous vide cooking for our large family gatherings, I discovered it doesn't quite keep up with the larger pieces I want to prepare. Like, 4 tri tip roasts at once is a little too much for the Nano. LOLSo I opted to upgrade to the Pro and omg what an amazing device! I cooked 4 filet roasts at once for a party at my friend's house and just the other day for Thanksgiving, we did 2 20 lb turkeys for 31 ppl. of course, I broke down the turkeys into pieces (didn't cook them whole), but omg the texture was amazing! They were simple frozen turkeys from our local grocery store - not the fresh pricey heritage birds I normally order - and they came out better than any other turkey I have ever ... MoreI had a Nano which worked fine and still does; but as I have fallen in love with sous vide cooking for our large family gatherings, I discovered it doesn't quite keep up with the larger pieces I want to prepare. I'm never going back to roasting a whole bird for Thanksgiving.

I heard about sous vide cooking and was excited to try something new. However, there doesn't seem to be enough information on how to cook the foods. Perhaps I haven't found the right site, but it would be nice to have a simple chart saying how long to cook certain meats by weight. I see a few recipes on line but the times and temperatures vary so I feel that it is more guesswork than science. Unless I can find more detailed information I probably won't use this expensive equipment and wouldn't recommend it to friends.

I've had my Pro for almost a year and a half and LOVE it!!! The Pro heats fast and maintains temperature perfectly. It's never failed to produce perfectly cooked foods to my desired doneness. I just wish the "bling" sound, when it reaches temperature and again when the process is complete was louder. The sous vide method of cooking meats, especially expensive cuts, in the home kitchen has changed the game completely! It makes last minute meal service much more relaxed. I'm not into prolonged cooking of tougher cuts (i.e. chuck, brisket) because of both electrical consumption and the old fashioned techniques of stovetop and oven braising is also foolproof, easier, and enhances/shares the flavors - I think - better. I've gotten so dependent on my Pro cooker that I bought myself the 16L Precision Cooker Container with lid as well as the Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro (I'm tired of using zip lock bags and trying to keep items submerged). They have a permanent place on my kitchen counter - and I have a really small kitchen.
So far, I have not experienced the OMG this is a fantastic piece of kitchen equipment attitude...Ok, I love the way it keeps the water steady eddy on temp. but I have to say... I cooked a chuck roast, known to be tough, dry and well, the texture not as good as the flavor. So ok lets try the toughest meat, like they say...It was flavorful, no doubt but still dry and just not my mom's pressure cooked fall apart, melt in your mouth with texture and bursting roast flavor roast or Golden Corals chuck roast with potatoes and veggies and gravy... No on such a big disappointment level here and no!It is a costly item, so I will attempt other food items and give another review, hopefully...However where I stand on the product of making a tough meat better, not as happy as ... MoreSo far, I have not experienced the OMG this is a fantastic piece of kitchen equipment attitude...Ok, I love the way it keeps the water steady eddy on temp. but I have to say... I bought the precision cooker pro on a whim after a conversation with friends regarding the best cooked steaks. I'm a huge fan of a reverse sear but wanted to test this approach. Am I glad I did!! Seriously the best steak I've ever cooked and I'm hooked. I'm looking forward to experimenting with more and implementing the precision cooker pro as a regular tool in my kitchen.I love the access through the app, super easy to set up. I also love that you can save the details /recipe so there is no guesswork and trying to remember how you cooked a particular dish.Highly recommend!!
I just received my Anova Pro about two weeks ago. My first try last week it stopped three times with a beep before it reached temperature - I had to keep restarting it. Was doing Corn 190F - worked fine for Steaks at 134FToday is my second attempt. First item - lamb chops 134F - worked fine. Then potatoes at 190F - machine stopped at 176F and I had to restart - did this 3x. Then when it got to 190 - it just kept going. Beeping and shutting down and then going above 190F again several times
Got this for my husband. Used this once. Doesn’t work at all. The FILL error won’t go away even though everything we have done is what was suggested from the manufacturer. It looks like it’s a used piece that someone had returned even though it came straight from the manufacturer. The bolt looks like it’s worn out. The heating coils look to be used. They had mentioned that we have to return it before they can ship us a new one and it takes ~72 hours to create a shipping label. How is it we spend so much money on something and it’s garbage. Super upsetting.
I bought the first gen anova. Decided to upgrade since it was great. Big mistake. Wont connect to WiFi. No other option on app but WiFi. Used all the troubleshooting tips. Stood inches from router with its 5ghz band turned off only leaving the 2.4 it requests. Still nothing. Used Android and iPhone. Neither would allow it to connect to internet. Basically now a dumb expensive immersion circulator. Had high hopes for this.
I’ve had an original Anova WiFi for a few years now and thought I would try the new pro as an upgrade during a Black Friday sale. After over a dozen attempts, and rebuilding my home network just for troubleshooting, I could not get the Pro to connect to my network. Is it the main feature of the device? No, but it’s awfully disappointing that a “pro” device only comes with 2.4Ghz WiFi, and has to be connected via their clunky app. After two days of troubleshooting with support, I opted for a refund.
