Works perfectly as I have already had a power outage and even though it only lasted less than 5 minutes, this product kept my computer system running flawlessly throughout the entire outage. If it wasn't for the light in my room going out, I wouldn't have known that there was a power interruption at all. This APC Back-Up took it all in stride without one complaint.

Had a failed battery backup due to increased wattage of workstation power supply plus extra monitor during storm, APC told me 6 yeart old backup faulty, and computer manufacturer recommended this model...difficult to find, not on Amazon and B&H had it with free expedited 2nd day delivery at reasonable cost. Has pure sine wave transmission, which works well with emergency standby generator and with rural electric grid to stabilize current without need for higher level line conditioning. Connects to internet for firmware updates, updated when installed and works flawlessley! Easy to configure as tower for desktop mounting. It is heavy, though (about 40 lbs).

So far so good, I love the display that lets me know how much of a load and where the battery level is! Enough plugs with some to spare, at least for my set up!
I will recommend this product. This is an upgrade and a replacement for one that lasted over ten years. We lose power several times a year and this is a life saver.
Hardware is fine, the PowerChute Serial Shutdown software that is on one's own computer, not in the cloud, times out very quickly from inactivity and does not remain open requiring the user to constantly keep signing in. There apparently is no setting to keep the application open as you would any email client application or any other important application. That is just poor programming.
X1500 ups is a bit overkill for my setup but has been tested by flipping power breakers and was able to maintain power without an issue. The interface is easy to read to get quick updates on the device and the network connectivity to manage power is a bonus. The initial setup basically consisted of plugging it in and confirming a few basic settings. Came with plenty of adapters to allow you to mount the UPS in a server rack or with the provided stands.
This unit will fit both 4 post racks (cabinets) and will stand alone (as feet it can sit in), 9 I have 3 servers from this and it seems to detect all power problems even "distorted power", which is a lot better than the CyberPower units (i have sold many of both). It runs very cool, has power grouping of outlets, an expansion slot (which i will be using the Management Card 2), this one also has the extended battery option (see below for differences). The SMX series also has the EPO connector (Emergency Power Off) which is another button that can be bought to allow you to turn this unit off instantly if you think there might be a problem (like a fire in the servers and super storm that you don’t want to have issues with). I have a 600 deep cabinet and this unit fitted after i cut about 2inches from the fixing rail kit as it was to long (they made it fit 1000mm deep cabinets). There are a number of these units: SMT has no extended battery connector (and most don’t have the EPO connector) SMX has the extended battery connector There are older versions of both that do not have the digital display on the front and are lower efficiency as look more “industrialâ€
Like that it's convertible but, prefer it as a rack unit. Reliable, cost effective, and like the smart connect port
