Excellent packaging.Fast delivery! Order placed nearly 11pm, shipped out next day 12pm, and delivered in the afternoon the day after by QExpress. I was so happy! esp since this is medication for my sick goldfish. The Melafix I had was almost emptied, and I was doing daily water change and adding Melafix. My goldfish is recovering! Will continue until he is well.

Saved my fish! This treats so many different problems with fish, helps heal them, doesn't effect aquatic plants or invertebrates and can be used to introduce new fish. Targets numerous bacterial infections, fin damage, uncers and wounds so you dont have to spend time guessing. Says all natural so a full water change is unnecessary. Used this along side of Tetra Lifeguard all in one treatment tablets. Large quantity for the price too.

This managed to kill 2 of my fish at separate times. First it was for a pleco who we transferred to a tank by itself after displaying signs of being sick. After being in his own tank for a few days he started to show improvement. Someone at petco suggested I get this to help with any sickness. Not even 12hrs after added it, poor little guy was dead. Fast forward several months later a black widow we had had stopped eating and was staying towards the bottom but started coming around and ate some. Then my fiance suggested we try this to see if it will help her improvement more. 30 minutes after using it, the black widow start thrashing in the tank and ended up dying. This crap is horrible!!!

I spoke to a Petco employee who is considered the local store’s aquatic expert. I described the condition of my ill Betta, and MelaFix was recommended. I said Betta many times. He said Betta many times. I took the product home and treated the tank water as instructed. The fish went into immediate distress. I didn’t know what to do. I thought it might be a healing crisis. A couple of hours later my little pet was dead. I went online and discovered that MelaFix fatally damages the betta’s ability to absorb oxygen. I went back to Petco and told the aquatic ‘expert’ what had happened. He merely said, “Oh, it was a Betta.” So, the product might be great for other fish, but it kills bettas. There should be a warning on the product, since it is sold next to Betta products. ... MoreI spoke to a Petco employee who is considered the local store’s aquatic expert. Generally speaking, one apparently can’t rely on employees too listen, or to think with the brain god gave them. It would be good if your labeling helps the owners to make an informed choice.
I bought this product to treat a minor infection of on one of black moor goldfish. He had white edges on his tail and wanted to get ahead of it before it became a major issue. I recently cleaned the gravel and did a 25% water change several days beforehand. I used this product as directed in the morning before leaving for the day. I came home (about 5 hours later) to one of the two goldfish dead and floating upside down at the top of the tank (the one that had NO signs of distress or infection hours beforehand). The other fish that I was originally treating was floating on his side, and gasping desperately. He was covered in horrible gray slime and had MAJOR fin decay and gill inflammation. I honestly thought he was going to die within minutes of me frantically ... MoreI bought this product to treat a minor infection of on one of black moor goldfish. I honestly thought he was going to die within minutes of me frantically trying to save him. It’s the closest a fish can come to death. Thankfully I was able to set up an emergency tank with hourly 10-25% water changes to flush this out of his system. He miraculously survived the night and has vastly improved in another tank within the last 48 hours. There might has been other factors that came into play here, but I believe this absolutely FRIED my goldfish. I have seen that others have experienced fish loss with this product as well. I would highly recommend using another medication.
I have a 50 gal tank that has multiple different kinds of fish, our pride and joy being our 3 year old black ghost knife fish. One of our tetras got popeye and after researching treatments safe for freshwater fish, we went with this brand here. Not even 15 minutes after dosing our tank (with the correct dosage) our ghost fish started acting/swimming really strange and then looked as if she basically had died. We immediately looked it up on Google and found out that Melafix had very quickly killed other BGKF and we got her into a quarantine tank ASAP. Were still waiting to see if she makes it... I really wish this bottle came with a warning label stating its not safe for all freshwater fish. Were really kicking ourselves because we know shes sensitive but I honestly ... Were really kicking ourselves because we know shes sensitive but I honestly just assumed it was safe for every freshwater fish and it had some very good reviews. Please be careful. My suckers, angelfish, and tetras are doing fine after dosing. (Trying to post this review in multiple places to warn others who have exotic freshwater fish)
Used this to treat a 5K gal. Koi pond which had an unknown pathogen affecting our fish. The symptoms have been bloating (in some fish), lethargy (not all fish), slight fading of color and the water was slightly clouded. Since the symptoms were not "identifiable" as a specific disease or fungus we decided to treat the whole pond for a total of 10 days. We started with Melafix (1 pint/5K gal) for the first 3 days, overlapped treatment with Pimafix (1 pint/5K gal) for 7 days. Our pond is clear, the fish color has returned, no bloated fish (not sure why the fish bloated but they were not lopsided as when the swim bladder is affected). I appreciate that I can use both products at once and I do not have to worry about toxicity. After a treatment we do a partial water ... MoreUsed this to treat a 5K gal. I bought both products and used them simultaneously to treat a minor case of mouth fungus in a well established 75 gallon tank. I followed the instructions and completed the whole course of treatment.Save your money. This stuff is completely useless! After a major water change I used conventional medicine and the fungus was gone before the 5 day regimen was over. These "natural " products may work for other purposes but they have no place in aquariums. Most reviews I read were similar to my experience, but there were a few successful treatments so I tried it.
I have used API's Melafix on a few occasions to prevent wounds from becoming infected. Keep in mind Melafix WILL NOT fully treat severe bacterial or fungal infections, but is intended for use as soon as a minor wounds or fin damage occurs. This product did not work for me when I attempted to treat severe bacterial infections like popeye or fin rot/tail rot. I had to order antibiotic food and Maracyn Two to cure these. All in all Melafix is a good product to keep in case one of your fish suffers a wound and you want to prevent infection.
I am a skeptic about things like this. Fish antibiotics are no longer available unless your vet treats fish and will inject them, so I had no choice, really. 4 of my fish had developed red gills and nasty ulcers on their gills and a few on the body. First, I tried numerous water changes, though the ammonia level was fine. Salt baths came next. Then I treated for possible internal parasites. Still, they ulcers remained. 3rd day of MelaFix I started seeing the ulcers improve. 4th day and they were healing. I'm on the 6th day now, and the improvement is amazing. I'm ordering more of this to keep on hand. I suspect birds bathing in our pond are bringing in some form of bacteria. I am so grateful this natural remedy worked!
