It will come as no surprise to users of this type of tablet that the new iPad I now have has much, much longer battery life than the 8 year old equivalent that has to be recharged every night. I know both operating systems not to mention the differences in hardware from desktops to the laptops. I regard Apple as the best!

Great for social apps and video chat.

Needless to say when the flip phone went swimming, I went to iPhone so I have it synched with iPad to get text messages and emails on both devices. The absolute most impressive think to me being a tech dinosaur was my ability to set up my new iPad and transfer EVERY picture and app already installed on previous iPad. It made me feel like an IT expert.

Upfront disclosure: I'm a PC guy. I make my living fixing PC problems. My wife is technophobic. She would avoid computers all together except for her iPad and iPhone. We were forced to replace her iPhone when it would no longer do what she needed to do. Unfortunately, her iPad had reached that same plateau.Best Buy put the 9th gen iPad on sale. Without my wife's knowledge I ordered one. My plan was to do the switch while she was not around. I did as instructed, and immediately both iPads acknowledged each other. I was instructed to scan the moving circle on the new iPad with the camera on the old iPad. I answered "yes" to the question if I wanted to set up the new iPad with the info on the old iPad. Thirty minutes later I had a perfectly cloned iPad 9th generation.Except that the new iPad had a black frame instead of a white frame, my wife noticed no difference in the operation. Everything just happened a lot faster.Whoever designed this feature for Apple has earned the admiration from this diehard PC guy. Microsoft -- of all the things you copy from Apple, this is one you need to steal.

I purchased this iPad because my previous iPad, which I need for work (psychotherapist), was failing to process Notes properly. Also, because the new one was on sale. My main challenge now is to integrate my iPad with a MacBook Pro M1 Computer I bought several years ago at Best Buy in Ithaca NY. I was a geek squad member there; someone was supposed to come to my house and help me integrate my devices, however, he let me know on the day we picked that he had forgotten that the Daytona 500 was running and would have to get back to me. I canceled my geek squad membership, with significant resistance from Citibank (again, no phone calls accepted). In summary, the iPad I bought recently from Best Buy seems to work. While I understand that the entire retail environment is in decline, I still wish I could find support for integrating the iPad with the MacBook (and the phone, an older MacBook, and so on). I now live in Rochester –if per chance I win this lottery, I would spend it all a visit from a competent, qualified tech-support person to help integrate my home office tech environment. (e.g., can't add Apple photos to this site).

I am so finicky when it comes to electronics, especially tablets, I have tried Surface, a boatload of Android slates, and pretty much every iPad of every size. The thing is, ultimately, no one makes a tablet that is equally perfect as well as boring as Apple. Sure, Android makers, despite their major flaw of being splintered (especially when it comes to OS support) are risk takers (honestly, the closest tablet out there to the iPad in terms of speed, reliability, and support is from Samsung). They are willing to try different things, and some of them are cool and useful (That Galaxy Tab S9 tho!)But the iPad, well, besides a few changes here and there, is dull, dependable, will last for years, and are bullt well. The 9th gen continues that trend, even tho I had ... MoreI am so finicky when it comes to electronics, especially tablets, I have tried Surface, a boatload of Android slates, and pretty much every iPad of every size. The thing is, ultimately, no one makes a tablet that is equally perfect as well as boring as Apple. This is the last iPad with headphone jack. I looked at the iPad 9 with 64 GB. 64 is not very much if you’re using heavy apps or to store a lot of movies. at about $200 it’s easily the best iPad for the money you could get on sale. my iPad six is excellent and still works great so I’m not sure if I’ll keep this one however the iPad six is from 2018 the iPad nine from 2021.The iPad nine chip is the A13 versus the A10 of the iPad six. The iPad nine is slightly bigger and supposedly a better front camera. Other than that they are almost identical but the new chip I am hoping will keep the iPad running smoothly for several years. I’m not sure but the iPad 6 may be a little sluggish as I have used it a lot for 5-6 years. For me as a musician I love having the headphone jack. if you never had an iPad and you can get the 9 on sale It’s a great iPad and will probably run smoothly for another 5 to 6 years. Neither of these iPads will die after 5 to 6 years, they just might lag a bit. so I bought the iPad 9 to somewhat Future-proof for the iPad 6. I went for a monthly AppleCare, but If you’re paying for AppleCare and a deductible for an incident, it may not be worth it.It does have the chip that allows me to run logic pro on the iPad. That’s pretty cool, but due to the 64 gig I can’t download a lot of plugins and I never liked recording on iPads. But logic works on this iPad and I will use it.So, if you want to prolong having a headphone jack and have a good all-around iPad for 3 to 4 years to come, This is a great iPad, if you can afford the 256 GB go for it.If you never owned an iPad and this is on sale for 64 GB it’s a great iPad and not just a starter. The resolution is great. The screen is slightly bigger than a standard iPad. The speakers are not much different than the iPad six but fairly loud and usable. I do a lot of shopping, communicating, research, watching (streaming, YT) and create and edit video and documents. You can always off load videos to a PC or USB.If you want to upgrade your iPad and you don’t care about the headphone jack, then you might want to look at the most recent iPads, but they are significantly more expensive. This is a brand new iPad so the battery and chip are new, which makes a difference to longevity. I’ve never seen an iPad go for $200 new so if you see it around this price it’s a great iPad.

Very dissatisfied with quality of purchase. I have owned 3 other versions of iPads (2 mini and one previous generation of this regular iPad model comparable to this one). ALL of my older iPads still work great. This iPad just completely stopped working within 3 months of the apple care+ expiring. The ipad only lasted for about 2 years and then one day just completely stopped working all together, with it being used in the morning and then not functional 2 hours later. Extremely disappointing given the cost of the device. My niece who I purchased for is asking for a new one for Christmas to replace this but I will be shopping other tablets due to the lack of quality given it is the last one I purchased and first one to break with no support offered. I highly recommend looking at other brand tablets that cost way less and have similar capabilities.

Since 2012, I have purchased several Apple products. None have disappointed. The original iMac Pro I purchased in 2012 still functions, but has physical damage from repeated lifting by the left front corner of the laptop from the table next to my chair. This is not an apple problem; I simply did not realize that the shell was flexing each time I did this. The repeated gesture wore an internal part over time. I did have it repaired in a "shade tree" shop. Other than the damage I inflicted, the laptop still works 12yrs later. I averaged 3yrs or less from PC's in the past. Mostly from the OS becoming junked up and unusable. My recent cell phone is also my first Apple and I'm completely satisfied. The 9th gen 10.2 iPad I purchased approximately 2wks ago is functioning like a charm. Something I have come to expect from Apple. With the steady increase in prices for high-end PC products, and the relatively steady pricing of Apple pricing (which all tend to be high-end), I will likely never purchase anything else. The new Apple-branded processor in my MacBook Air functions with no noticeable difference from the familiar high-end brand that has led the market for years. I have, so far, experienced the same functionality and speed from my new iPad. The price of this model, which isn't the latest, was very reasonable. My iPad was purchased online and picked up at the store. Best Buy has an excellent process in place for this type of shopping. I made the purchase and received a notice that is was ready for pickup a few minutes later; well within the time it took me to drive to the store (about half an hour). The wait in the pickup line was very short and the process well organized. The Best Buy website is also accurate and user friendly for comparison shopping. The prices are very competitive and consistently so.Completely satisified start to finish.

[Rewarded Review] iPad’s are the good standard of tablets
9 November 2024

Perfect tablet for my 63 year old mother. She had Samsung tablet that was only $50 cheaper in the past that was so laggy and just physically way too heavy that it caused constant frustration. Them an amazing Fire Tablet 10 to replace that because Samsung stopped security updates way too soon back then but it was so much worse. Fire OS is a dumpster fire and the table itself was doomed to be awful because it had almost no RAM. Using Amazon own apps didn’t even work well I mean, how are you going to sell a tablet that you can’t even use Audible on properly when you’re making both of those products. For the iPad is snappy she has taken to using iPadOS a lot more intuitively than either of the other ones and very rarely, though I have to go and be “tech support” and fix ... MorePerfect tablet for my 63 year old mother. For the iPad is snappy she has taken to using iPadOS a lot more intuitively than either of the other ones and very rarely, though I have to go and be “tech support” and fix something. I just simply have to tell her the way to do something on iPadOS and then that’s that. I’m glad that she got the last model with a home button too. Of course we all know that I’ve had something gold standard of tablets, but just wanted to share our experience with this particular model. I have had an iPad Air 4 and currently have an M1 iPad Pro 11 inch. They are fantastic devices more powerful than you can ever begin to make full use of, but that also means this table will run smoothly as long as Apple supports it with software update, which has always been years longer than Android OEM’s. I haven’t doubt that she won’t continue to use this tablet for at least five years even if it’s a little bit older model I still highly highly recommend it for the right situation or individual.
