I am very sad to be writing a negative review here. I was so happy to have received my computer in 2 days, when it was originally estimated that I would be waiting 10 days for shipment. The computer is in beautiful condition, but there is one major issue. This computer will not charge. I used the charger that came with it and bought a brand new one to try to fix the issue. Both times, the computer would keep connecting and disconnecting, even though both chargers were in 100% working order and everything was plugged in properly. I am going into an apple store to see if this is a glitch that was out of the seller’s hands. If I need to pay for repairs on it or if the problem does not have a solution, I will be requesting a refund. This is the nicest laptop that I have ever owned. It is small, light, and the battery lasts for days (with my work flow)! I can use it to prepare lesson plans, watch videos. Surf the Internet, and light video editing (two 4-8 min. Videos twice a month). It seemingly becomes whatever I need it to be. Like water, it flows into any space and fill that space. The screen is great, the battery is GREAT, and the laptop just works.

Almost perfect. Might just be this specific device, rarely, maybe once a month the screen will flicker in an unsavory "what the funk is going on" way for about 1-3 seconds. This problem might worsen with time, maybe it fell off a desk a long time ago? Not sure. No "carfax" on this one. Solid device, very nice display, weight, boot time, battery charge, wifi card, and so forth. The keyboard leaves a little to be desired, coming from a [much] older macbook air I think the keyboard somehow got less cool in the 2019 edition -- something about the tactility and the bounciness of the keys. Might just be that this one in particular came second-hand but I think the actual springing mechanism is different and that took a little getting used-to. My older MacBook Pro died and I wanted a newer M1 chip MacBook Pro or MacBook Air to bring all my Time Machine backup to a newer machine. I got a great deal on a used 512gb MacBook Air M1 and it ported over my older Pros Time Machine backup perfectly. It is significantly faster and I can hardly tell it has been used before. Even more surprising it has 1 1/2 years of Apple Care coverage still active. So buying a used EBay confirmed restored MacBook was a great purchase.
I only switched to Mac when the M1 chip launched so I wasn't sure what to expect from a MacBook Air with an Intel Core i5. My daughter had been begging for a MacBook but had no experience with MacOS, so I wanted a cheaper option to introduce her to the Apple ecosystem. I was very impressed with how snappy the computer was for the things she uses it for, such as web browsing and playing Roblox. The fan can be a bit loud to cool the Intel chip, and the keyboard is not as good as the M1 MacBook Air, but neither of those issues are terrible or deal breakers by any means. If you're looking for a cheap way to get into MacOS, this is a great option!
Great little laptop! It's no speed demon, but then it's not meant to be, either. The Retina screen is absolutely beautiful and SHARP. The keyboard is a little light on the tough, but I've found I like the Apple keyboards better than other major brands. The touch pad is very sensitive, and very versatile once you get used to it. This computer is great for home use: basic stuff like email, shopping on the web, basic home office stuff, light gaming is also handled well. The internal drive is blazing fast, and USB C external PCIE drives are VERY fast for extra storage. I use a 1Tb WD Blue drive for extra storage and backups. A larger screen can easily be accessed, up to UHD 3856 x 2160 is handled well.
Lightning Fast! So much better / faster than my 2013 iMac. I know new computers are always faster and slow with age, but this thing is awesome. It's handled everything I've thrown at it with ease. I'm not a gamer, but I do use it for video editing and general use. The battery life is amazing as well, and lasts so much longer than any laptop I've ever had. I love the fact that it does not need a fan, so you don't have to worry about restricting airflow when setting on a pillow or other soft surface. My only complaint would be the lack of ports. It only has 2 USB-C ports, so if you're using and adapter dongle, now you're down to only one; and you have to charge through those ports as well. It's usually not an issue, but in certain circumstances it can be a problem.
Pros: The retina screen is amazing and if you use your Air to watch videos you’ll be very happy. The new colours really make the Air look stylish.Cons: I bought this to replace a 2012 MacBook Air. This Air feels slower than my previous laptop (when new). The startup takes significantly longer and there’s frequent instances of lag. The battery life, as always, is nowhere near Apple’s claims. I bought this because of the 12 hours battery when surfing. I have since realised Apple probably mean surging article sites where you load the page and then spend time reading articles. If you’re actually surfing, for example, shopping the frequent page loading will significantly reduce battery life. As such, surfing in real world conditions only got 4 hours battery. If you’re actually surfing, for example, shopping the frequent page loading will significantly reduce battery life. As such, surfing in real world conditions only got 4 hours battery. Video playback only got 7 hours battery. So the12 hour battery seems to be if you just switch it on and, I dunno, type a college essay or something. To be clear, I switch off all unnecessary features like location, spotlight, Siri. Reduce screen brightness to 50% and switch off backlit keyboard, so this battery performance is even more shocking. The only upside is Apple claims the 2018 Air battery isn’t glued in meaning battery replacement should be easier and cheaper than previously.
Ive been searching for a good laptop for college and I decided on a Mac so I searched eBay for the lowest prices on the M1 MacBook Air. (TLDR) This has been the best computer Ive ever owned! It looks practically brand new and feels like it too. The Mac came with the original packaging and all accessories even the apple stickers :) The battery is at 100% capacity and theres only 44 charge cycles on it. Everything opens instantly and the daily battery life seems practically invincible. All in all, this is the best computer Ive ever owned. If this doesnt convince you that this is the right purchase I dont know what will! Find one for the lowest price you can and buy it. Buy it before its gone!
Battery lasts a long time. Screen is bright and adjustable. Trackpad needs improve ment; it seems a lot of users have problems with it, especially the Gestures. An external Mouse is useful given the size of the screen. I bought a separate 24" monitor to use with this laptop, using it for the main screen without having to use reading glasses. The wi-fi is fast, and makes updating the OS easy. It's solidly built, and love the back-lit keyboard. I wish it had some additional ports. Only has two display ports and one for a headset. A USB port would be handy.
