Apple 16-Inch Macbook Pro with Touch Bar - 2.3GHz i9, 1TB - Space Grey

Having the new tricked out M1 Max 16 MacBook Pro for a couple of weeks, here are my observations.Pros -Very fast. I am impressed with the performance in heavy apps like Premier Pro and Photoshop. I was skeptical about the performance compared to the i9 16 I had previously.I did a literal side by side comparison rendering an 1 hour Premier Pro project in 1080p, 2-pass rendering at highest quality.The 8-core i9 with 64GB RAM and 8GB dedicated video card rendered in 2 hours and 24 minutes. Even though the computer was plugged in the entire time, the battery charge went from 100% to 65%. In other words, the power supply could not keep up with the power drain. The fans were blowing full blast for the entire rendering process. The fans never kicked in and the battery charge stayed at 100%. Very impressive.The display is warmer and brighter than the previous 16 MacBook Pro. Not sure if this is a pro or a con as it will impact color grading and photo editing.The battery life is very impressive.Addition of SD card readerCons -The unit is noticeably thicker and heavier than its predecessor.The MagSafe cable is too short.I preferred the USB-C power connection as I could power the computer from either side. I realize I can still use USB-C for power, but then what's the point of the MagSafe connector?No Touch Bar. I may be one of the few people in the world that liked the Touch Bar. Apple finally got it right on the last model with the permanent escape key. I miss the dynamic brush size changing in Photoshop.Overall an impressive upgrade, but I will miss some of the features and the thinness of the 16 i9.

The MacBook Pro M1 Max certainly lives up to the hype. It is blazing fast, super-quiet, and the battery life is phenomenal. I can work all day and never worry about running out of juice. Routine tasks are accomplished at lightning speeds and the machine never breaks a sweat. Even when tackling more demanding audio and video work, it really screams.Because the M1 processor is based on the same ARM architecture used in the iPhone and iPad, many iOS applications can run on the MacBook Pro now. In the App Store, you can see both MacOS and iOS apps listed, take your choice!Apple managed to fit a huge, brilliant and super-bright screen in a frame hardly larger than previous models. The computer is noticeably thicker and heavier than my previous MacBook Pro, a 2017 edition. It was a good trade-off, though, as it is comfortable in your lap and stays nice and cool while in use.That huge battery doesn't take long to charge, either. Plug it in for 30 minutes and you'll regain 50% charge. It charges fastest using the power adapter that comes with the computer and plugs into the mag-safe connector but even charging over USB-C is fast.Overall, I'm very pleased!

I transitioned from windows... hated the first two weeks since everything is so different (low key still do) but the part when I do get it to work is just mind blowing. I do photography and there is this cool PS Action that uses Retouch4u and applies all the AI engines and my window laptop would take 5-7 mins for ONE image. This joker on the other hand take 45-50 seconds. Yes less than a minute!! Same goes for Topaz suite and all their plugins. This thing just flies. I highly recommend this product. Trust me, it's worth the price.
