Fantastic upgrade from an Intel MacBook Pro

They are not spinning according to iStatMenus.I had to upgrade both the RAM and SSD, and Apple’s upgrade prices are outrageous, so there’s that, but the machine itself is quite powerful. I'm docking it one star due to the price.

Stellar computer - get the 16"! It's worth paying extra for.

I wasn't sure whether to buy the 14-inch or 16-inch model - there's quite a considerable price difference considering you're getting the same specs as the 14-inch M4 Pro, but I'm ultimately very happy I paid the extra cash and got the 16-inch. This is my first experience with a brand new Apple product and it really surprised me - I can’t see myself ever going back to a Windows PC.It looks great and is very light considering how large it is. The screen is gorgeous and incredibly high resolution. The battery life is unreal, usually lasting between 12 and 24 hours of solid use, plus it will go from flat to fully charged in about 1 and a half hours thanks to the 140w power supply and larger battery array the 16” comes with. What makes this laptop really special in my opinion are the little things that you take for granted - for example, you can open it with only one finger, you don’t have to secure it to the desk with your other hand like a lot of other laptops. It boots up and shuts down in seconds making it very easy to come and go. The keys all feel the same, regardless of the size: for example, the space bar doesn’t rock back and forth and it has the same action as any other key. Coming from a Windows PC, these kind of things are such a breath of fresh air. It probably sounds silly, but it genuinely makes all the difference and you feel like you have a quality product every step of the way. Plus it's made almost entirely out of aluminium so it feels incredibly robust and solid. The first time I played music out of it my jaw almost hit the floor. The speakers are unbelievable - great stereo width and a very wide frequency range (i.e., a lot of the bass content comes through). The 16" has a better speaker array than the 14" and if you listen to a lot of music out loud I'd say it's another reason to consider the larger size. They sound genuinely incredible considering how thin the laptop is.I’m using it purely for audio work and it is incredibly powerful for this. No matter what I throw at it, the CPU usage for any given application never exceeds 5%. It is seriously powerful, probably a little too powerful for what I’m using it for! I have only experienced the ‘beach ball’ loading icon once, and it was when I was moving stuff around between the MacBook and 2 external hard drives, plus I had 2 or 3 high-intensity programs open at the same time. It is lightning fast and never misses a beat. It’s just an incredible laptop all around. I would highly recommend spending the extra cash to get the 16” version, especially if you’re a tall person like myself. I was worried about it being too big or too heavy, but it’s neither. The size is perfect and it’s surprisingly light, but it might be worth considering to 14” version if you’re not particularly tall. If I was a bit smaller, I’d probably prefer the 14”. Very solid product, well worth the price in my opinion.

This is, by far, the best laptop I have ever owned. The battery life is exceptional, and I have zero worries about it entering sleep mode or draining the battery over time. The performance is very good, and all applications run great. It also performs very well for gaming when running games from the App Store or Windows-based games using Crossover (though your mileage will definitely vary on those). The display is bright, the lid hinge is solid, and the port selection is good. The trackpad is, as always, great, and the keyboard is very good. There are very few times that I hear the fan kick on, and it's mostly during gaming. I can't think of any noticeable issue aside from personal feelings about the notch and the weight of the laptop. Peace of mind will help you enjoy the purchase without needing to worry. Plus Apple seems to be really good with dealing with issues when they arise should they.

[Rewarded Review] Incredible Performance and Build Quality
6 January 2025

I recently purchased the Apple MacBook Pro M4 Max 16-inch with 48GB RAM and 1TB SSD, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. This machine is an absolute powerhouse! The performance is unmatched—everything runs incredibly smoothly, whether it's video editing, coding, or running multiple resource-heavy applications simultaneously. The display is stunning, with vibrant colors and exceptional clarity. The build quality feels premium, as expected from Apple, and the battery life is impressive given the level of power this laptop offers.Although it's on the pricier side, it’s worth every penny for the performance and reliability. If you're a professional who needs a high-performing machine, this is the one to get. Highly recommend it!

I can't stop talking about how great it is! The fact that it is *brighter* now at 1000nits, and the existing MiniLED technology means that I get cinema-like display quality when watching netflix/youtube/apple TV but impeccable color accuracy when editing my photos all on the same screen is a win-win. The nano texture feature was appealing, but I decided to pass on that as it is a relatively new feature that hasn't been long-term tested. The speakers sound amazing as well.Overall, while yes the laptop is rather large and not as portable, it makes a great desktop replacement, with the performance to match.

I have fell in love with this MacBook. This is my first ever MacBook and I bought it for the Battery life and I am a computer science student who plans on keeping this laptop for 5 years and more. Going from Windows my whole life to this was not as bad as I thought. Getting used to the finder for files was the hardest thing but nothing that was impossible. Definitely watch some videos on apps to get to improve your experience. Also if you want to play games on your MacBook look up "Whisky". This basically emulates any windows app and I have stream on there and can play my favorite games and this computer handles them very well. This is my first ever MacBook and I bought it for the Battery life and I am a computer science student who plans on keeping this laptop for 5 years and more. Going from Windows my whole life to this was not as bad as I thought. Getting used to the finder for files was the hardest thing but nothing that was impossible. This MacBook is amazing though. I used it everyday.

[Rewarded Review] The Best Source to Purchase All of Your Electronic Items
12 December 2024

First of all, let me start by stating that I am a repeat customer of B&H Photo. I have purchased SLR cameras and computer equipment over the years. If you are researching where to buy your electronic items, look no further than B&H. I have found over the years that the level of service, expertise, communications, efficiency of processing and delivering items, and their price cannot be beat. I recently ordered a MacBook Pro M4 over the BlackFriday weekend and I was pleasantly surprised to find they had the best price on the internet or in any store and had the product in stock and shipped it out the next day. I receive the product within two days and couldn't be happier with my purchase. I receive the product within two days and couldn't be happier with my purchase. I took the option of 48GB of Ram and loaded on Parallels and run multiple Windows 11 Pro virtual machines which run as fast as my Dell Precision Desktop natively. The processing power, battery life, and cool running laptop are amazing. I come from years of using Windows systems and have had Dell XPS 15/16 laptops for the past decade and I can tell you that the Macbook Pro is substantially faster, more efficient, with zero fan noise under normal heavy loads. The battery life is just crazy, I get anywhere from 12 to 15 hours of usage. On a brand new 2023 Dell XPS, I would get 7 hours at best and that's running one session of Windows. The fact that the Apple system seamlessly ties in my phone, watch, tablet, and Apple TV into one cohesive solution is mind blowing. If you are thinking about making the switch from Windows to Mac or upgrading your Macbook, the new M4 machines are incredible and B&H Photo is the place to make your purchase. You will not regret it.
