An agile and superb smart watch- major upgrade!

I had an Apple Watch previously. This is a major upgrade to the prior version, and provides several features not available in prior versions. Examples include, multiple exercise modes, more customizations in watch faces and mirroring of the iPhone which wasn’t available in prior versions. It has a very good read back feature for texts, voice memos, it also allows gaming of certain games on the watch screen. The newest Apple Watch iOS has made improvements which were much needed for being a player in the smart phone market. I use it all the time. There’s an improvement in the battery life, which is great for somebody like me who uses it for multiple applications!

Battery is awful

Love everything except battery life. I had it for ten months working well and lasting almost all day, charged it every night and then around ten months it wouldn’t hold a charge more than a few hours. Sent it to be “fixed”, sent back and still the same issue. Called and after a long phone call they sent an express replacement but this one also won’t hold a charge more than six hours. I can put it on low battery mode and it still dies before dinner. I’m over it. They say the battery health is just fine, but it absolutely won’t stay on through a day. What good is it if I can only use it through mid afternoon? I only use it for texts and calls pretty much. I’ve turned off automatic downloads and removed most apps. It’s just frustrating.

Purchased at sale price of $199 - had worn a Fitbit for years and thought I'd join the Apple watch club. The display is nice when listening to a podcast or music and answering texts but for me the activity portions are off. With my fitbit I'd hit 7000 steps on a non workout day and 9000 on a workout day. With this it tells me I've only hit 3000 which can not be right! I don't even know how to look at my prior weeks activity once the day is over. The sleep tracking is lacking, it doesnt track naps at all, and I wish there was an option to see these things on your phone as well and not just the watch. And you have to charge this every single day where the fitbit was like once a week. Makes me want to wear both a fitbit and this apple watch at the same time to compare ... MorePurchased at sale price of $199 - had worn a Fitbit for years and thought I'd join the Apple watch club. Disappointed.

I was looking for a solution to replace my old walkman and wired headset when at the gym, plus benefit the extra features of an I phone versus just a walkman. I was sadly dispappointed. -You have to text by writing with your finger! Lacking a keyboard function, the text function does not allow all numbers and digits ie. if you write a number 1 it becomes a capital L. You would need a finger as thin as a toothpick to even fully capture simple letters or numbers clearly. As a result of this glitch, I had trouble verifying my Apple ID password many times, and was locked out, until I simply gave up and returned it. Keep in mind you might not want this to happen should you ever need to sign in to use the heart rate app or other health apps. There is a keyboard function on more expensive models. It woudl be great if more websites mentioned this feature.-Sound Quality and Volume Settings: no problem with the sound quality at all, but operating and controlling the sound quality was complicated when paired with headsets or ear bud devices. At one point, the music app had no sound. The headset was paired well and working fine, but it took 2 hours with technical support to locate and control the option on the watch. In an ideal world it would be great to see an actual button on the watch that would seamlessly set up volume control to make it more user friendly across many ear devices rather than leaving us to figure out how each ear device works with the watch. In fact, I’m convinced most ear devices will and are working very well with the watch-if not for the difficulties that seem more to exist on the watch itself!-Support-I must have had discussions by phone with tech support at least 4-5 times in the first 24 hours of owning this device, unresolved for what would be simple solutions on other devices. I felt the support was not to blame-there seemed to be very little resources to turn to for troubleshooting. We need more specialized support for the Apple Watch.-Cellular functions-there is no internet or live streaming unless you pay a jump in price for cellular data and in most cases, have your Iphone in view or near you. In other words, I’m finding I depend on most part on the use of the I phone to pair with the watch. Wish Apple could create one integrative internet radio app that synchronizes well with your other devices rather than have to download new ones nor carry your I Phone as the centrl command station. The hope would be to wear most of what you need in your ear and wrist only, with no extra third devices needed at all!-also be aware of extra costs if you should order the watch directly from Apple. For example, on the Apple website, the price shown is the base price for the watch face itself. You will need to purchase a USB- C 20 watt power adapter separately for about 28.00. The watchband is an extra cost of about 50.00 minimum. If you decide to add a cellular option that is supposed to allow functions like texting without having to keep your I phone nearby, ( I have not used that to verify) but be prepared for approximately an extra 100.00 to add cellular, as well as adding to the weight of the watch on your wrist. So for me that was about an extra 180.00 Canadian in total. Add earbuds-that is another 100-200.00. In a nutshell-the cost does not justify the limits of the watch in my opinion. But I am giving 3 stars for the Pros which are:-it has a very large watch face for easily keeping track of time while also allowing downloads of your I tunes and other multi features like picking up a message or emergency SOS.-excellent compatibility with pairing ear bud products Apple or not Apple-just that once paired you can run into complicated steps finding out how to use them with the watch.-first time set up of the watch was quick and seamless-font is very easy to read for things like your mail-I recommend the 44 or 45 mm over the 40 mm watch face option which gives a larger watch face with larger font. I was in store today to try on the 45mm without cellular and it is very light on your wrist.Overall conclusion: I was very impressed with the many choices and options that come on the watch, as well as ordering from Apple if you don’t mind an extra cost for options. But, overall, I feel like it's a watch trying to be a micro version of an I phone, with all and everything added but the kitchen sink. Putting it another way, think of the watch as moving into a newly constructed building that looks beautiful from the outside, and inside all the features are there. But once putting in some time living in it, somehow the infrastructure is missing. Mostly, the watch lacks the thinking outside the box troubleshooting solutions and resources that I have found are an integral feature of my other Apple products. I am someone who is very user friendly on all my many Apple products, but never a problem with a new device like I had with this. I also give an extra star to tech support for their time and patience. I just could not help but think that Apple needs more specialized support for the Watch only. Clearly the majority of reviews are very positive, so it's possible that the device just didn't suit my needs. I'd love to see Apple design a Bluetooth IPod that focuses on less of the bells and whistles, and just does music and live radio access really well for maybe a slight fraction of the cost of these watches. Regardless of my disappointment with the watch and lack of support, I'm also giving the 3 stars for the exemplary service Apple is famous for for delivering and standing behind their products including 2 hour delivery by Uber for a flat 13.00!

So I purchased the Apple Watch SE 2nd Gen for $189 $16 protection plan. I wanna like this watch but quite frankly, the battery life is HORRIBLE! I can fully charge it overnight and by 4 pm it’s “dead”. I like the features. It comes with everything I want/need, and a few other things. My previous watch was a Mingdaln for $23, but really it’s not the much of an upgrade.A few things you should be aware of are: Short battery life. The wireless charging pad (included) is not a regular usb plug in. It’s a C plug in. There is no keyboard when responding to texts, it uses speech to text. It paired with my phone (iPhone 13 pro max) fairly quickly. I’m still getting used to navigating it.Do I believe it’s worth the hype and the price? Meh! If not, save your money, and go with a cheaper option.

Save your time and money if your thinking of using with a stand alone plan
9 July 2024

Got my son this watch on a stand alone cellular plan with Verizon and not sure if it’s the watch, apple or Verizon that I’m fed up with. 1st off shouldnt take 3 hours to set up a watch (had to do this twice since they replaced a new one after just 2 weeks because of the issues) and 2nd we are luck if out of 12 times trying to call my son one of the calls actually goes through. Or the fact that calls he tries to make on the watch are about 1 in 10 that go through. In the first 2 weeks of having this watch I spent a good 8 hours in person and on the phone with Verizon and the best they could come up with is “it’s a known stand alone apple watch issue”. Not sure how that’s ok to sell a product as working one way and then say ohh that’s a known issue and too bad and we ... MoreGot my son this watch on a stand alone cellular plan with Verizon and not sure if it’s the watch, apple or Verizon that I’m fed up with. 1st off shouldnt take 3 hours to set up a watch (had to do this twice since they replaced a new one after just 2 weeks because of the issues) and 2nd we are luck if out of 12 times trying to call my son one of the calls actually goes through. Weightloss Game Changer
5 November 2024

I highly recommend this Apple Watch. I have owned an older version for years and bought this one for my husband’s birthday. He has been trying to keep up with his steps and trying to lose weight. This watch has been an absolute game changer for him. It is very accurate with steps, and activity. He hit a perfect month the first month owning it! It has also helped with his Type A behavior of constantly needing to look at and clear notifications from his phone. He can glance at his watch and quickly determine if it’s important or not. I would go as far as to say it has helped improved his efficiency at work. The only draw back to this purchase is that the largest band was still not large enough for my husband’s wrist. Still a fantastic buy!

[Rewarded Review] Great safety features for kids
16 August 2024

I purchased this watch for my kid who needs to contact me after school. I chose an Apple Watch over the option of a cell phone because I’m not comfortable with the many safety risks that may occur with a smart phone in the hands of a child even with all of the safety features turned on. The safety features for kids specifically with an Apple Watch vs an iPhone are really great if you create an Apple ID for your child, chose the option to set it up for someone else, and adjust all of the features to the highest protections possible. My kid is only able to send/receive calls and texts from approved contacts, has a school time feature enabled with time parameters of my choosing, the option to set downtimes for sleep at night, and the ability to totally restrict apps ... MoreI purchased this watch for my kid who needs to contact me after school. So far so good. I purchased Apple Care rather than Walmart’s protection plan. I do wish more band colors were available through Walmart but I have already replaced the band to one that fits my kid better.

[Rewarded Review] Love
7 June 2024

Love! I bought this for my bestie as a gift. It was between this, the 9 or the ultra 2. This one has all the features that’s needed. If you like big screens but not too big this one is great. The battery life is okay. It’s not as great as the ultra 2. If you carry around a portable charger, battery life won’t be a problem. The con I have is how fragile this watch is. I owned one previously, and I banged it once on a table and there were scratches. Buy a case that has a screen protector build in. Then it’s perfect for everyday wear. The comfort of this watch is great, the band is smooth. I’ve warm it to bed accidentally because I forgot it was there. I definitely recommend.
