The Apple Pencil 2015 is a stylus pen you can use with a phone or tablet. A stylus allows you to sketch and draw with precision or to take notes on your device. Its ergonomic design ensures the stylus by brand Apple is comfortable to hold. In addition to that, many stylus pens allow for adjustable functions, such as hotkeys, easily switching between one modus or another, or quickly selecting a specific drawing tool.

A Very Good Product at a Very Good Price

I purchased this pencil for my 3rd Generation iPad 12.9 as mainly a pointing device to navigate through my textbook readings, but found it to be very useful in every other application that I frequent as well. I would recommend this pencil for anyone who could use its versatility. My son tested the pencil on his graphic art applications and gave us a strong thumbs up. The only noticeable difference between my pencil and his Apple Pencil, he remarked is The Price. My pencil was remarkably less in price. Its a quality find.

Personally, I have no product with the rounded shape that some people complain about. The charging CAN be clunky if you charge it off the iPad itself, but I have always used the lightning female-to-female adapter as it's faster and it means I can still use the iPad itself. It's light, comfortable to hold (to me), easy to use and, in my estimation, has no competition aside from the Surface Pen. This is just not any old iPad stylus - this is the first stylus I've ever been able to naturally write and draw with on a tablet. The are only two drawbacks I've found. Firstly, I haven't found any cases that fit the current models of iPad that use the 1st gen Pencil (iPad Air 2 [2019 edtion], iPad, or iPad Mini [5th gen, which I currently have]), so I end up storing my Pencil ... MorePersonally, I have no product with the rounded shape that some people complain about. I'm sure this will change, though. Secondly, I am a "screen protector" type of guy, and using the Pencil with my first iPad Pro - that also had a glass Zagg screen protector - there was a definite, substantive difference between using the Pencil directly on an iPad screen and on the protector-covered screen. It wasn't the end of the world for me, but I'm not a power user by any means and so it was something I adapted to pretty easily. Overall, I give the product a B+; I formerly gave it an A (rounded up for being Apple's first attempt). Honestly, unless you're going to be really going hard on your Pencil use - which, if you are, probably means you're using the newest iPad Pro, anyway - the 1st gen Pencil is still the gen pop industry standard in my view.

Broken connection

I bought this weeks ago while at college and finally got home to try it out. My iPad is an iPad Pro 12.9 inch and recently updated. The Apple Pencil would not stay connected long enough in order to pair with my iPad. I have tried restarting my iPad multiple times and left the pencil to charge for periods of time, nothing worked. It's lightning connector is damaged and cannot maintain a secure connection, as when given the option to pair, the box will disappear before I have the option to tap "pair". In the "About" tab in settings, the Apple Pencil options would repeatedly appear and disappear, further proving the connector is broken. While there is no visible damage on the outside and came in the box with all the paper inside it, it looked in good condition externally.

Defective Pencil, battery issues, $30 additional to solve issue
9 May 2022

The pencil arrived great, the packaging was new and original as described. However, when I attempted to use it, the pencil would not connect to my ipad. I thought it was a problem with my ipad so I tried to connect the pencil to someone else's and it still wouldn't work so I knew it was a problem with the pencil itself. I contacted Apple Tech support over the phone and although we troubleshooted we were not able to solve the issue. So, I scheduled an appointment to go to the Apple store and visit the Genius Bar. The technicians there told me that the battery was defective as the pencil would not hold battery, making it unable to connect to any ipad. They said the parts were too small to fix, so Apple does not fix pencils. I had to pay an additional $30, almost ... MoreThe pencil arrived great, the packaging was new and original as described. Excellent iPad Pro Accessory
21 May 2023

The second generation Apple Pencil is a big improvement over the first generation for the iPads it's compatible with. The magnetic attachment and wireless charging are huge. I haven't had to search around for my Apple Pencil in my bag or forgot where I left it since I got hte iPad Pro and second generation Pencil. And I haven't run out a battery life with because it's charging any time I'm not using it. It is pretty expensive so buying open box on eBay helped.

Great Product, as long as you dont leave it uncharged for a while!
20 July 2019

Having never bought or used an I pad pencil before, I wasnt sure what to expect and had a few questions answered upon delivery. Do I need anything else to use this pencil? No additional accessories needed as it plugs into your I pad charge port and charges really quickly, and can be used after minutes of charge. I do however worry about catching and breaking said pencil/charge port whilst its plugged in, but caution is the key word there. You do have to use apps designed for use with this pencil, it wont just write on any app, and obviously your I pad needs to be compatible, I have the I pad pro and it works like a dream. Doesnt need a lot of charge to use for a while, and it is really smooth and pleasant to write/draw/paint or colour with. I bought this specifically to use with a photo editing app but have also downloaded colouring and drawing apps which were free but with limited functions. Over all Id say this is a great product although Ive not yet used it a huge amount...Updated, sadly after a while of not using the pencil, when I went to charge it up it appears to now be unable to charge at all. I have searched apples forums and it does appear to be a fault with them. With that in mind, Id only buy one with the intention of keeping it charged up. Mine is now useless!

Nice and new

The only reliable tool for use with an iPad is the Apple Pencil. I have tried cheap items that claim compatibility but the only thing I can get them to do is tap my PIN to open the tablet. Genuine Apple Pencils are not cheap and you should buy one of the silicone sleeves that will tether the cap that protects the charging tip. I recently purchased one that has six sides . . . like a regular pencil . . . and find that the feel and preventing the pencil from rolling off the table/desk top are both big pluses (not to mention the inability to lose the magnetic cap while charging the pencil.

Quirky charging and pairing process
10 November 2022

Quirky charging and pairing process. This pencil is good however, to charge, it uses a lightening connector on the eraser end of the pencil (photo). You have to plug it into the iPad to charge it and pair it with the iPad. The pencil did not come with an adapter that can be used with a lightening cable for charging. I purchased an adapter separately. Once it is charged and paired with the iPad, it works fine.

Worth It
20 October 2022

I wasnt about to spend $129 on a 2nd gen Apple Pencil when I already spent $99 on the 1st gen one. Caution - the new iPad 6th gen mini ONLY works with the 2nd gen Pencil. So I figured Id try this. Its great - snaps right on to charge, has color indicators for battery life (none of the Apple Pencils do), and even better, takes screenshots by double clicking the top part. Really cool especially since the screenshot controls are close together on the mini 6 and kind of hard to maneuver. What it doesnt do, is the double shake/tap thing that the 2nd gen ApplePencil does to bring up the eraser, but, meh. The screenshot click thing is way more useful for me. Extremely good value for the money. I highly recommend. Full disclosure: I dont sketch or draw, so I cant speak for ... MoreI wasnt about to spend $129 on a 2nd gen Apple Pencil when I already spent $99 on the 1st gen one. was okay for a bit then it broke
14 November 2021

I got the pencil Sept 25th and it was fully functional. I had to buy new nibs because there were bits marks with the one that it came with but I didnt have an issue with it. I was using it and it was great until Nov 11th the nib broke so I replaced it and it stopped writing. The pencil can still connect and the double tap function is operational but it cannot write. Comparing it to a newly brought pencil, the metal piece under the nib is a different metal than what Apple uses. I presume this is a result of it being repaired with 3rd party parts. Its unfortunate that its use didnt last. I think theres more longevity in buying it brand new.
