I bought this model iPod Touch on eBay because I really liked the design aesthetic of that era's Apple devices and this was the most advanced model before the design change. I couldn't afford a brand new one at that time, but now I could buy a used one in great condition, thanks to eBay. The UI of the iPod Touch is pretty much the same as the iPhone, which is intuitive to figure out. The 64gb capacity is enough to hold all my music. I'll mainly use this as a home jukebox paired with my stereo via Bluetooth, but might occasionally take it on the go with me.

My 8 year old has been saving for an iPod & finally had enough to purchase one. We werent looking for anything fancy, she just wanted a couple apps & to be able to watch some videos & listen to music. Purchasing the 4th Generation was a big mistake. Since it is discontinued, we couldnt find cases or screen protectors for it without scouring online sites. The charger cord that came with this died after only a week of having it, & of course, since it is discontinued, no retail store sells the charger any more. We finally found one at a WalMart. The operating system is only a 6.1, & all of the apps she wanted need at least an 8.0 to download. She cant even download the Google app! So, my advice is dont waste your money on this one like we did!

It's an Apple device, so the hardware is great, is it outdated? Yes, slightly, but that shouldn't matter if you want to listen to music, watch a few videos and generally enjoy some media, including the apps that still support iOS6. It is still a great machine and the two cameras are of fine quality for what they are meant for. Not a patch on the up to date cameras found in newer hardware but please, let's remember this is for playing music on, the cameras are a great bonus! This is a phone without the phone, everything works as expected and for the price one would want to pay for it, not the one enforced upon us by Apple. The screen on the device was second to none when it came out, now it still holds it own and looks great even up close. Love this ipod! It's a workhorse since I ride a motorcycle and has yet to fail me on the road yet. Many options over a regular MP3/MP4 player as you can even get on Facebook etc. Money vs older device? I see this lasting me for years to come. Long battery life, great screen and many options. Only downfall that really upsets me. It's an Apple product. Device cannot be upgraded to newer system and hard to find apps on the store for the OS. That's ok, I'll keep using it for what I bought it for. Music with an added flair and love the weather info on it. No service needed for the radio. Only needed service would be WiFi to use the email, texting, Facebook, etc features. Awesome purchase and very very happy!
I bought this to replace my iPod Mini I've owned for 2 and a half years as I would need to reformat it just to continuing syncing to it on my new computer which was undesirable - so an alternate solution was needed and this was it!I'm pleasantly surprised this iPod supports USB playback in my car, considering she is 5 years newer then the device; so if anyone else is concerned that this iPod may not work with their entertainment system, then this should answer that question! I cannot speculate how cars fitted with Apple CarPlay will react to this relic, so if your car is new enough to support it, then air on the side of caution. The condition of the unit is generally pretty good, but the stainless steel back is more scratched then I would've liked for a "Grade B" ... MoreI bought this to replace my iPod Mini I've owned for 2 and a half years as I would need to reformat it just to continuing syncing to it on my new computer which was undesirable - so an alternate solution was needed and this was it!I'm pleasantly surprised this iPod supports USB playback in my car, considering she is 5 years newer then the device; so if anyone else is concerned that this iPod may not work with their entertainment system, then this should answer that question! Mine came factory restored ready for use and setting up for it's new life as my car music player. Since it's now living in my car permanently connected to her battery, I cannot say how long the battery now lasts, but somehow I suspect it would be less then the Mini I replaced.Overall, good purchase and I would recommend this to anyone else looking for a similar solution for their cars!
I really like the iPod touch 4th gen. Why? I still have devices that use the 30 pin connector. I use it strictly for music. The battery life could be better, but I keep my fully charged for the most part. I am not an apple fan, but this product along with how iTunes interfaces with it is really good. It is sad that apple is going to discontinue the iPod all together. I don't want every frickin' thing to be on my phone.
It's sleek, simple, easy to use, and has many features. Music, videos, photos, games, it's an awesome device. Its perfect for music and audio books. It can be used with head phone jack, Bluetooth, or USB connection.PerformanceEasy to operate. Quick return on my choices of use whether it is from the artist, album, or song. Easy to read and this can not only show the album covers on the iPod but can also do music videos which I was happy to find out it could do this.Battery LifeBattery is good but you would definitely benefit from having a car charger on hand as I like to listen to mine in the car with an adaptor which allows you to listen to your iPod through your stereo system.
I have two iPod Touch 5th generation iPods. They have many of the iPhone 4's features including the same processing chip. I just broke down and purchased an iPod and iTunes for Dummies that is trying to tell me what it's all about. I have over 700 songs in albums and one of my units is always Blue Toothed in my new Prius where it turns on when the car starts, plays songs from all the albums randomly. My wife thinks I'm a "genus' because it's like magic. The unit stays charged because it turns on with the car and charges and turns off when the car is parked and waits patiently for the next time and continues on with where it left off. Because all my CDs are in my Apple iTunes account my wife wants me to get rid of them. I've hidden them from her for the moment. I am ... MoreI have two iPod Touch 5th generation iPods. I bought myself this item for my birthday. I wanted it to listen to music and audiobooks. When I got it, it was beautifully packaged and I was amazed at all the functionality on this small device - from Facebook to Calendar and two cameras. There were over 20 apps already installed!I've had it now for about 3 weeks. I use it every day. I love the timer function under the Clock app, which allows you to customize the alert tone. I use it with the bell tower option for yoga meditation. The weather app is absolutely fabulous to check the temperature before running out the door. I find it useful for catching up on Facebook, though to type longer messages, I prefer a real keyboard. There's a nice Notes app. The camera quality is better than that on my laptop, but not as ... MoreI bought myself this item for my birthday. I wanted it to listen to music and audiobooks. I find it useful for catching up on Facebook, though to type longer messages, I prefer a real keyboard. There's a nice Notes app. The camera quality is better than that on my laptop, but not as good as a real camera. Of course there are plenty of apps I'll probably never or rarely use like Passbook, Newsstand, Stock ticker. This is my first Apple product and I had some difficulty understanding how to navigate, customize and download, but I figured most things out without resorting to a user guide. I still haven't figured out how to accept a suggested auto-complete or re-arrange the application icons, and I struggled a little when switching wifi locations. I frequently end up hitting the delete key when I want to type 'm'. The earbuds which came with the iPod were the unpadded kind which I cannot use for more than a few minutes. One small annoyance -- I bought a case for it, but if it's in the case when I turn it on, it apparently misreads the ambiant lighting and doesn't increase the backlighting until I remove it partway from the case. I was not able to view my work webmail as the website didn't play well with the Safari browser (font too small to read well and couldn't control navigation if I enlarged the window).Moving data (photos) to my laptop was very easy and of course, there are iTunes synch and backup functions. The FaceTime app, which I have not used, which supports videotelephony with other iOS users, looks quite interesting.Surprisingly, and a little worrisome, it automatically populated my Calendar with the birthdays of all my Facebook contacts. I would prefer to have control over such things and not have them happen automagically without me knowing about it. I'll have to investigate if there are settings I could set to prevent this type of thing.Oh, and yes, I've listened to several audiobooks and all my albums (except my Christmas music), and watched a few FB videos. The sound quality is very satisfactory. The HD quality is fabulous.Overall, I love my new toy!
