Plus it syncs seamlessly with my iPhone & iPad - the main reason I choose to stay in the Apple ecosystem despite the higher costs. Any cons Offering only a headphone Jack and 2 USB C or Thunderbolt ports, meaning that I had to a USB C to USB converter cable to link to my existing HDD storage that had only USB connectors.Any wishes A touchscreen would be nice.

The 2022 MacBook Air with the new M2 processor is a joy to use. The physical laptop is beautiful to behold before even using it, so that's a bonus when you run out of battery! I bought the dark blue version, and it looks fantastic. The screen is clear and sharp, colours look as they should and screen brightness is very impressive in all conditions. The keyboard is good, the keys have a very short range of movement, which is odd for me coming from a mechanical (blue switch) keyboard on my PC, and it takes some getting used to, but I thought it was easy enough to type on after a bit of practice. The main thing is to ensure you're resting the laptop on a very flat surface! The main thing is to ensure you're resting the laptop on a very flat surface! The M2 processor has no problems with general use (MS Office, web browsing, watching streaming content etc), and I'm pleased to say (with screen brightness set to 50%) in general use, a fully charged battery lasts the whole day without a problem. The hard drive / SSD seems to be in the left side of the palm rest (left of the trackpad) and you can feel it vibrating gently when in use. Not a complaint, just an observation. There are no active fans / cooling systems in the MacBook Air and some reviews mention it heating up (which impacts battery life). I've not run any games or content creation software on it yet, so not really taxed the processor too much, but I can say it's absolutely not heated to the touch at any point. The model with the 512GB SSD runs a faster drive than the 256GB SSD model, but using both side by side, the difference in speed was barely noticeable to me. I would absolutely recommend this laptop if you want a pretty to look at, but very functional and capable device with a long lasting battery life.

I love this Mac.
26 January 2023

Usually when I give a product 5 stars, it is because my needs were met without a fuss. However I am giving this Mac, 5 stars when I really mean 6! I upgraded my MacBook Pro 13" Mid 2012 model to this one. I have stopped using my old Mac because it began to slow down and the battery wouldn't hold. That's when I knew it was time to retire my old trusty... 11 years later. Enter 13" MBP M2 of 2022. I honestly was expecting this Mac to be a piece of poop because that is what other reviewers on YouTube have been telling me. Against the trend, I purchased it.. in 2023 while the new M2 14"/16"-ers just came out. I kept my expectations low and reminded myself that this is just going to be my commuter laptop that I get to bang around in my bag, my car, and work office. I do also have a 14" M1 laptop that I keep at home as my main computer so I keep that one pristine. My use case for this would be to edit photos, social, browse web, multitask through various safari windows, Microsoft Office, casual games etc. This model is so fast! Much faster than the M1 14" MBP. They are both swift but this one is noticeably faster. While transferring files between the two, I noticed how I would have to wait for the 14" while the 13" would already be done. For both computers, I purchased base RAM. I have been doing a lot of photo editing and I noticed how neither computers really ever slowed down but the 13" continued as if I wasn't even making a dent. I was told this Mac got hot fairly easily. Never even felt it get warm. I constantly would look at the battery and even after 15+ minutes of consistent YouTube scrolling/watching with multiple tabs, it didn't go down 1%. Battery life is superior to the 14 inch M1. I think the Touch Bar is kind of cool, I am able to customize it. The ports are not a big deal to me, I am not averse to dongles. Speakers are a huge upgrade from my previous 13". I love this powerful thing that I can take with me on the go! I like that the battery stays on forever especially. About 30 minutes had elapsed since I turned this on and not even a negative %. I am so glad to be back in commission with a new and improved 13 inch MBP. It is truly the sweet spot for me. the 14 inch I think is big, this is a comfortable size. As for size, I referenced photos between this model, 2012 13" MBP, and the 14" M1 MBP.

Sleek, Powerful, and Efficient: The Ultimate MacBo

I recently purchased the latest MacBook Pro 13.3" Laptop with the Apple M2 chip, 8GB memory, and 256GB SSD in Space Gray, and I have been thoroughly impressed with the performance and overall experience. This device is truly a testament to Apple's innovation and commitment to delivering top-of-the-line technology. Let me break down what makes this MacBook Pro stand out. Design and Build: Right out of the box, the MacBook Pro's sleek and minimalist design in Space Gray caught my eye. The unibody aluminum chassis is incredibly sturdy and lightweight, making it perfect for on-the-go use. The slim profile and compact size make it easy to slip into a backpack or laptop sleeve, while the build quality ensures it can withstand the rigors of daily use. Display: The 13.3" Retina display is nothing short of stunning. With a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels, it delivers crisp and vibrant visuals, making it perfect for photo and video editing, as well as general browsing and entertainment. True Tone technology adjusts the color temperature to match your environment, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience in various lighting conditions. Performance: The Apple M2 chip is the star of the show, offering a significant performance boost over its predecessor, the M1. With 8GB of memory and 256GB SSD, this MacBook Pro can handle multiple applications simultaneously without breaking a sweat. I've experienced minimal lag, even when running resource-intensive programs like Adobe Photoshop or Final Cut Pro. The fanless design ensures silent operation, and the laptop remains cool even under heavy workloads. Battery Life: Battery life is another strong point of the MacBook Pro. With up to 20 hours of usage on a single charge, I can get through an entire workday, and then some, without needing to plug in. This is particularly useful for long flights or working remotely without access to a power outlet. Connectivity and Ports: This MacBook Pro model includes two Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 ports, an SDXC card slot, HDMI port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a MagSafe 3 port for charging. While the port selection is adequate for most users, some may find the lack of additional USB-A ports a drawback. However, USB-C hubs and adapters are readily available to expand the laptop's connectivity. Conclusion: In summary, the MacBook Pro 13.3" with the Apple M2 chip, 8GB memory, and 256GB SSD in Space Gray is a powerful, efficient, and stylish laptop that delivers exceptional performance for both personal and professional use. While the port selection could be better, the overall user experience, incredible battery life, and top-notch performance make it a worthwhile investment for anyone in need of a high-quality laptop.

So far, so good

I have so far been very pleased with my MB Air. Even though it is the entry model, it is very fast and has dealt comfortably with any tasks I have thrown at it, however my demands of it is limited mainly to internet browsing, email, banking etc. I also run Norton antivirus and Nord VPN. Though quick, I doubt it would manage intensive video editing, but if that is what you need, then you should probably be looking at a MacBook Pro. The screen definition is breathtaking, I also have a high end HP Windows laptop with the same screen resolution, but here Apple wins hands down with its crisp photographic like images and vivid but natural colours. Battery life is excellent, about 15 hours on a full charge performing routine duties. So what are the downsides? Well, it is expensive. It is not possible to upgrade it in anyway (such as adding more RAM or a larger SSD) and Apple will probably stop allowing it to update in about 4 years at most. However there are ways around the latter point, my 2011 MacBook Pro is currently running OSX Monterey, but that computer has been heavily upgraded to cope with that. Personally I am very pleased with my purchase and love using the computer. I need to travel soon, and it is so light and compact, it is the perfect companion. However I will probably be here buying another in 4-5 years time when Apple try to make it obsolete.

The best choice for most people

Honestly can't find a downside to this laptop - switched from windows and is the first MacBook/Apple product I've purchased, and I'm surprised by how good it is. Switching from windows is pretty easy and the Mac operating system doesn't have a big learning curve. The biggest standout by far is battery life - can watch Netflix all day and into the evening without even thinking about charging. Multitasking between many different applications (e.g. chrome, Spotify, documents, etc) at once doesn't give the battery a hit either. Another plus is the screen, it has a perfect ratio that makes the laptop feel much bigger than it really is, the small bezels make it feel very modern. The thin and light frame is a big plus too - very portable. Would recommend for students and anyone using it for everyday tasks. Consider it even if you normally would go for a windows product!

I got the base model M2 MBA as I move on from my 2015 i7 MacBook Air and had a bit of storage anxiety, but with ever improving iCloud drive integration I still have plenty of space after installing Office, Xojo, Rapidweaver and several other apps along with docs and photos. Changes in how other cloud services work in macOS 12.3+, including OneDrive, also improved how apps are stored. I have 2TB iCloud and 2x 1TB OneDrives and still over 100GB free on my 256GB base MBA. Anything I need just gets pulled down and anything you don't need is easily purged and left in the cloud. 10 years ago this would have been a bigger issues but with 5G phones and big tethering plans usually included (like the 40GB/mo tethering I get from T-Mobile), making use of Cloud on the go is ... MoreI got the base model M2 MBA as I move on from my 2015 i7 MacBook Air and had a bit of storage anxiety, but with ever improving iCloud drive integration I still have plenty of space after installing Office, Xojo, Rapidweaver and several other apps along with docs and photos. But you do have the option to get 512+ storage if you are willing to pay the excessive money Apple is asking, but really, casual users just don't need it anymore. New MBA has a very good keyboard, much better than the old butterfly and a perfect trackpad as always. The screen, while just the regular 'liquid retina' is very bright with excellent contrast that is nearly as good as my Dell XPS 15's OLED screen. It is quite shocking really. M2 is very good on battery (on day 2 without charging) and very speedy, easily as fast as my previous i7 MacBook Air. Scaling options in macOS 12 and 13 beta make for plenty of screen space despite the 13.6" size. While the 256GB model, using a single NAND is slower than the 512GB dual NAND SSD, you don't really noticed it unless you have to move a lot of files and you aren't going to be doing that on a 256GB drive anyway, so don't let that negativity of 1400MBps vs 3000MBps storage be a distraction. Again, for casual users, you just don't hammer the SSD enough to notice any difference. With only 8GB of RAM I don't know what the longevity will be going forward as macOS gets bigger and bloated garbage electron apps continue their march overrunning native ones, but for now 8GB is plenty for casual use and basic dev work. This 8GB/256GB is perfect for casual users and students. If you are heavy in CS or video editing, then obviously this isn't the machine for you, but for the 90% that is everyone else, the new base model MBA is great.
