I have lately become a college student again and so I needed to get a new laptop. The last time I bought a laptop, Apple was still using Intel processors and the MacBook Air that I had for nearly 8 years was starting to get pretty slow. The new MacBook Air with the M3 chip is one of the the most beautiful computers I have ever seen. It is the perfect size and weight; 13.5” Retina display that is much improved over my prior Intel MacBook Air. I got the base configuration as I spoke with the sales rep at Apple section in my local Best Buy and he let me know that if I was not doing anything graphically intensive or gaming then the base configuration is fine. I won’t lie I was nervous buying a computer that cost this much only having 8 fbs of RAM but it has been perfect ... MoreI have lately become a college student again and so I needed to get a new laptop. There are no fans at all which is so nice as I can remember back in the day you knew when there was going to be a big computer slow down when the fans would kick on loudly, The battery life is also crazy for how much power this device provides while easily lasting twice as along as a Dell laptop with a 11 gen Intel Core i7 processor with 16 gbs of RAM. The MacBook also is made a million times better than the Dell and the user experience is night and day.If you are looking to get a computer that will last you at least a good 5 years and want something small and light and quiet that also is powerful than there is not a better computer on the market than this one.

Where the base M2 choked before, the M3 with double RAM would also choke. Such as batch processing RAWs. It does run a bit more smoother.Battery life sees no improvement. It drains fast compared to M3 MacBook Pro, also it is worse than 15inch air. You think M3 at 3nanometer that has only 10% processing power gain over the 5nanometer M2 means the M3 would gain in other areas, like power efficiency, or better cooling, or much more AI power but that is not the case. The m3 has only 25% of the minimum AI power requirement for Microsoft Bing copilot to run natively. The Bing is based on GPT-4, so basically this laptop will br worthless for general AI in 2 years. Seems like only added feature is ray tracing that is worthless on this fan-less body style.Overall I’d say it’s about what I expected out of the M3 in M2 air body, based on press release and reviews. If price sensitive, save $500 and get base M2 air.

People say it's crazy fast, I haven't noticed that. It still freezes if you have too many windows open at once.It still has solid construction, a good screen and about 15-17 hours of battery. Together with the solid state drive, this computer has less moving parts that could get damaged.OK for a laptop with no touchscreen. They are also crowded too close to the charger which cannot be used if an adapter is in the USB-C port next to it. I thought we were moving closer toward universality, but this laptop brought back a MagSafe charge cable unique only to itself (fail).- No option to turn off backlit keyboard. I liked this feature but now you have to go to some menu, click a submenu and awkwardly click and drag a round button a precise fraction of a millimeter to turn from dim to off and vice versa...not user friendly.- The operating system and system data uses 43 GB...on a brand new computer! Not to mention I still have 3 updates to install, I feel that Apple is going to make this model obsolete with their bloated updates sooner than customers would like. Get more storage if you are hopeful Apple will continue to support your computer past 5 years.

Being a lifetime Windows user, this MacBook is perfection. There is quite a learning curve, but it is relatively easy to adjust to Apple's Mac interface with all the YouTube videos out there walking you through the basics. The lightweight and slim profile does not take away from the quality, this thing is loaded with power and performance, and feels premium when handling. The screen is beautiful and bright, apps and browsers pull up super fast, and the whole ecosystem just feels suited for speed and ease. The keyboard is flawless, and if you love music as much as me, having dedicated keys for music controls built into the keyboard, it is super convenient. The audio quality is superb; the 4 built in speakers and tweeters bring music to life with clarity unlike any laptop I’ve ever used. Battery life for a guy like me that casually browses the web, listens to music/watches videos, is beyond insane. I can literally go over a week on a single charge before even getting down to where I feel it needs to charge, and that would be between 10-20%, which will still give you hours of life. Yes it is an expensive laptop. Yes it does not have all of the bells and whistles of others, but honestly, it is just a very well built machine that is made of quality, is easy to use, and packed with what you actually want and need, not loaded with gimmicks. If this is the standard of all of Apple’s MacBooks, then I will be a lifetime customer. Get one, you will not be disappointed.

I have had this for almost three months now. I use my laptop for 10+ hours every day for both work and personal use. The battery life is definitely as advertised. I have not had to charge my laptop other than at night, as one charge will make it through a full day's work. I have three full browsers with upward of six tabs open on each without any issue, glitching, or slowing down or heating up. This laptop is everything I could hope for and everything I need. I cannot speak for lesser spec'ed models for comparison, but I recommend this laptop for people who need multiple browsers and tabs for work. My only gripes include: 1. Low brightness compared to other laptops. 2. Speakers could be louder for watching shows or listening to music. 3. I chipped the bottom edge ... MoreI have had this for almost three months now. I am pretty gentle with my stuff, so getting a case is recommended. These are not deal breakers for me at all. Enjoy!

M3 Air is a great machine.
3 May 2024

I own a MacBook Pro 14 M3 Max as well for my business/work. That stays at home primarily and I use this MacBook Air M3 for travel. I have had the 15" MBA as well. My advice is if you have a true pro level need for your work then get a Pro machine. For the vast majority of people the Air is amazing, For purposes, traveling with it is a breeze. Granted the screen is different from the Pro but it is not at all bad, if anything it is not as bright as I would like but not bad. If you are looking at the air models and you are not traveling extensively or it will be your only machine consider the 15", the speakers are better and the extra 2 inches of screen are great! If you are looking for a travel companion that is easy to pack and fairly light then the 13" is the right ... MoreI own a MacBook Pro 14 M3 Max as well for my business/work. There is a lot of talk on the 8GB versus 16GB. Since I have a business that requires 36+ on my Pro Max at home, having anything less than 16 on the go is really not good so I have the M3, 16GB 512. It runs great. If you can afford the extra $, get the 16GB, especially if you plan to keep the machine for more than a few years. It will be well worth it. Does 8GB run for simple things, of course, but if you use Chrome or start to open a large number of tabs and excel or powerpoint then 8GB will swap pretty fast and while it is fast it is not unnoticeable in some cases. For the color, to each their own but I owned the Midnight and it is beautiful but it is a fingerprint magnet. I have the new MBP Space Black and it is better at fingerprints as the new m3 midnight is supposed to be, but not immune to them. I prefer Starlight. It is not boring like silver but not flashy. Just perfect and it doesn't really show that many smudges.I highly recommend the Air it is a great machine for travel, students, and everyday use.

I can play games; yes play games and they look really good too on this laptop and do all my personal and work stuff with 0 issues. Worth the upgrade. Long overdue. Graphic designer.

Upgraded from a 2019 MacBook Pro. Running Mac since G5’s for graphic design. Hands down this M3 version just performs. I’m running adobe illustrator, photoshop, multiple open tabs, square space, and downloading files for 12+ hours a day for the last 10 days. Not a single glitch or rainbow ball of death. MacBook Air M3 runs flawlessly so far. No experience with video editing, can’t vouch for that space. The aesthetics are beautiful, upgrades for the operating system are a plus and reminds me why I love Apple. Bought the silver version over the darker model because of reviews regarding finger prints. Battery life states 18 hours…haven’t actually timed, it feels long enough for hours of design work…I can charge once a day and get about 9-14 hours of design time. Bought the 256g and saved some cash. 12 months financing was a no brainer. Old wireless Apple mouse worked fine with this newer model. I thought I’d be losing out on something by not having a Macbook Pro. Not the case.If you’re on the fence, take the leap. I’d buy this over and over again. I’m truly impressed and pumped on this purchase. Re-kindled my love for design and my workflow has improved. Bestbuy was quick and I was out the door in less than 15 minutes. Didn’t have my bestbuy CC on hand, but they pulled my account in seconds. Graphic Design < APPLE

16GB and fanless .. why i got it. Coming from Windows though, the 'canvas' that is MacOS feels limitedGot for around 1150. I enjoy having a laptop that doesn't heat up. And it's fast.a couple cons: i plug external SSD in, MacOS will create an info file for what seems like every file already on the drive. So if you have 500 files, you'll end up with 1000. If there's a ton of files, when you plug a drive in, contents won't even show up for 'minutes' and i'm stuck wondering if it's safe to unplug the drive, which i eventually end up doing.Even when a drive is unmounted, MacOS will kindly heat the thing up.Also with regard to battery life, while it is .. *ahem* relatively outstanding, i feel like i have to tip toe to avoid reducing any component's lifetime. Most of my windows laptops i feel like they could be thrown at a wall and set fire to and they'd still be relatively 'happy'haven't used the new Macbook much but It's nice to have. Plays Amiga-inspired music (mods) thanks to a few talented software devs
