Needing to replace an ageing Apple Air, we decided to buy a laptop with larger screen this time (our eyes aren't getting younger!), on a similar budget to our previous purchase. The 15 inch MacBook Air's screen is crisp, with amazing contrast. It's a big step up from older models, and a joy to use and watch. It has little reflection (despite being quite shiny), and can be viewed from a wide range of angles.I was worried that a larger screen would mean a bulky laptop - this is absolutely not the case! (No pun intended - though we can use the same laptop case we had for the old 13 inch laptop!) This MacBook Air is rather light for this screen size. Makes scrolling much easier!!The new processor is ultrafast (ok I am comparing with a 4-year old laptop...), well beyond the needs of an office worker (i.e. lots of spreadsheets, VPN connection to different servers, multiple browser windows open, etc.). Battery life is decent and has never let me down.Overall delighted with the purchase, and would highly recommend. the uplift in the price is well worth it!

Its all about the screen size and the keyboard
1 July 2023

It's all about the screen size and the keyboard. Its actually practical to use and nice to type on - not cramped. If I had the money I would buy both the 13 inch and the 15 inch. I went for the 15 inch because for me the use case is primarily about the clarity of display for business type use running MSFT office and using cloud based applications which display a lot of information. The 15 inch is harder to balance on your lap when on the train or the tube - and you do notice the weight over and above smaller airs.Plus points for me: much better when using spreadsheets with over 10 columns - I found that for large excel files and when working with powerpoint can have the view % at 100% and the font size is still legible. The same for word - I can have a full A4 page view at 100%, and being able to see the whole document without scrolling makes it easier to see what I have already written. The same applies to PPT - where I can have a full slide on screen at 100% and read and work with the text and images.Lots of reviews I read said the RAM is a bit tight for video editing, but I do that maybe once a year - and for everything else it's been more than fine. Now when traveling to feels much more like the experience of using the monitor / laptop I have at home. But its heavier, larger and not as good looking as the 13 inch. All about the use case, when using am happy I went for 15 inch - but if you spend a lot of time carrying the laptop around with you, and use just emails - then 13 inch I think would be better.

Just What I Need

My 2015 15in MacBook Pro was working fine if all I did was web browsing. But I had data on there that couldn’t be synced to my iCloud because the newer MacOS versions stopped supporting my 8 year old device. I didn’t upgrade to the 13in Air because I already have a 12.9in iPad Pro and the 14in and 16in MacBook Pros are way out of my out my budget. When Apple announced the 15in MacBook Air, I had a feeling like this could be the device I wanted to upgrade to so I can have all my data sync to iCloud again. I went and checked it out at a local Best Buy and I liked how light and thin it was compared to my old MacBook. I ended up getting the 8gb RAM 512gb SSD in midnight and I have been loving it so far. The screen size is the perfect size and was pretty much the same size as my old MacBook Pro but the quality is noticeably better on my new Air. The battery life is great too where I can maybe stretch it out to 3 days of light use without charging it. I don’t use the built-in speakers often because I usually AirPlay to my HomePod but they do sound loud and clear whenever I do use them. I do wish Best Buy had the option to configure the RAM when purchasing but regardless the MacBook works great for everyday use probably due to the M2 Chip being very efficient and powerful enough for many tasks. I love the fanless design because the fan on my MacBook Pro would drive me crazy and it would run loud even if it was just on.Overall, if you’re due for an upgrade or want a MacBook with a big screen but don’t have the budget or need the power of the MacBook Pros then this one is perfect.

MacBook air 15 inch blue color
28 September 2023

As an avid Mac user who is often on the go, I was eager to get my hands on the new 15-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip. I purchased the blue color version as soon as it was released. After using this laptop as my daily driver for the past few weeks, I'm ready to share my thoughts. For starters, I really appreciate the larger 15-inch display compared to the standard 13-inch MacBook Air. Those extra couple inches make a noticeable difference for getting work done. I tend to have multiple windows and apps open at once, so the additional screen real estate is quite nice. Everything from web browsing to editing photos feels snappy and responsive. I haven't experienced any slowdowns, even when I have 20+ Chrome tabs open while also running Slack, Spotify and Zoom. The fans barely turn on thanks to the efficiency of the M2 chip. The battery life has also been stellar. I easily get through a full 8-10 hour workday on a single charge with my normal usage of web browsing, emails, documents and streaming audio. The fast charging capability is handy for quickly topping up the battery before heading out. While I love the new 15-inch size, the increased weight is noticeable coming from a 13-inch Air. It's not overly heavy by any means, but definitely feels more substantial on my lap and in my backpack. However, the build quality remains excellent with the aluminum unibody that Apple is known for.Overall, I highly recommend the 15-inch MacBook Air M2 for anyone who wants a larger screen and improved performance in a slim and portable design. It offers the perfect balance of portability and productivity.

Oh My Upgrade! This and a USB hub = LOVE
18 August 2023

Needed to purchase a new laptop for work. I would like to preface this with the fact I have been using a MacBook Pro from 2012 (yes... I know...) which no longer supports updates, trackpad stopped working, etc., so no matter what I knew anything was an upgrade for the laptop. I do have an iPhone 13 Pro and an iPad mini 6 for work so I am familiar with some of the more recent upgrades to iOS stuff. When reading the differences between the MacBook Air and the Pro, it seemed like I was going to go with the Pro. Until I got to Best Buy. I didn't want just USB-C, I also didn't know about the multi-port docks which was a big part of why I wasn't really considering the Air.NOTE! With the 15" Air, you have a MagSafe charger, and two USB-C ports on the left side. I ended up getting the SATECHI hub to go with computer. It only uses one of the USB-C ports and does not block the charging port. The first hub that I was shown plugged into both USB-C ports and blocked the MagSafe charger! The customer service gentleman was very happy to learn about this design flaw of multiple ports they carry that he had previously recommended, not realizing that you can't have all the things plugged in! Which could be a huge issue for people!Anyways, back to the MacBook Air. I LOVE it. The Touch ID makes things sooooo easy. I love how seamlessly Apple makes it to work on multiple devices and share files/data/bookmarks/keychain/apps/EVERYTHING.The operating system is incredibly easy to use and intuitive. This computer is FAST!!!!! And so far, I'm incredibly impressed with the battery life. It is so slim, it kind of worries me, but I ordered a hardshell case for it from Amazon since they didn't have any in stock at the store (newest model, not all the accessories yet).I don't have anything negative to say about this computer. I was grateful for the help and guidance of the rep I was working with in regards to what I was going to be using it for and realizing I did not NEED the Pro, that the Air would be more than sufficient, especially coming from a 2012 model.Ended up saving a few hundred bucks by going with the 15" MacBook Air and Satechi Hub vs the smaller Pro I had planned on. I only purchased that computer for the screen as I never took that computer to a quarter of its potential at the time.*The speakers are AMAZING in comparison to my previous 13" Pro and M1 and M2 Air. The only MacBook that beats it was my 16" i9 MBP I had a few years back. Those speakers were louder and more full but bass wise I would put the 15" Air on par with those.*The keyboard is spacious and great to type on. Honestly I've never had complaints with any of my MacBook keyboards; even the old 2016 15" MBP I had didn't bother me but this keyboard is miles better than that. Still not up to par to certain ThinkPad models (T Series and X1 Carbon series).*Bright, beautiful screen and the notch doesn't bother me with the larger screen (it honestly did on the 13" M2 Air) and I don't see any of the issues noted on the forums with this screen. Again I've never been picky or had any problems with my MacBook screens (except for the 2nd Gen Air. Terrible screens). I have auto dimming turned off as I like to pick how bright my screen is.*I purchased the 8/256 model and I don't have any complaints at all regarding speed. I do notice a difference in SSD speed in comparison to my M1 Air I just returned to get this 15". When transferring files it's noticeable Apple is using the slower, single SSD in comparison to M1. Other than that particular instance it's very fast and more than enough space and RAM for me.Apple hit a home run here with the 15" Air. Nothing groundbreaking about the design or overall package in general but it delivers exactly what most users want from a MacBook: a big, beautiful screened laptop that doesn't break the bank. If this had been priced any higher than $1499 base I wouldn't have purchased one but I think the aggressive pricing of this laptop will make it a best seller very quickly.

The Best MacBook Air Right Now
8 July 2023

I’ve owned a variety of MacBook models over the years (mostly Pro versions) as I’ve tried to find the “one” that best suits my needs. And when I bought the 13” M1 MacBook Air in 2020, I thought I’d found the MacBook that was “just right” - light, thin and with the M1 silicon chip, it was powerful enough to cover the not-too demanding design, video and music creation I needed it to achieve. And it did the job perfectly. I’ve always wanted a bigger screen (I’ve always bought 13” models), but it’s ridiculous to pay $$$ for an overpowered MacBook Pro just to bump up to the bigger screen size, which is so often what many people feel forced to do if they want to continue to use Apple laptops. And now I’ve found what I’ve been looking for. And now I’ve found what I’ve been looking for. The 15” M2 MacBook Air is, for me, exactly the right mix of large screen size, weight, thinness and, most importantly, price. The revival of the MagSafe charger was one of the things I missed on my M1 MBA and it’s great that Apple has brought it back - especially when there’s only 2 USB-C ports, so that means both are freed up while you charge. Battery life is great, too - on light weeks of use I’ve not needed to charge it for days. The large trackpad is awesome, as is the keyboard experience - typing for extended periods of time doesn’t produce any strain or discomfort. I wasn’t sure that I needed to upgrade to this model, as my M1 MBA was doing what I needed it to just fine - but now I’m glad that I did! I bought the base 8Gb RAM/256Gb SSD, but if you have the budget I’d recommend bumping up the RAM to 16Gb and the SSD to 512Gb for future-proofing.

Worth Every Penny!

This is my first laptop and I couldn't be happier. No, it's not perfect as nothing is in this world. I love how lightweight this is and comes in a variety of colors. The performance is incredible for daily usage of streaming videos, listening to music, writing blogs, online shopping, and beyond. Obviously, Apple is known for compatibility across their devices and certainly makes it a silk process if you have an iPhone, iPad, etc. when jumping from one device to another. The transfer process from a very old iMac to this current one went so smoothly. I had over 30K videos and images and not once did it glitch on me or cause any issues.I am currently in the process of learning Photoshop/Lightroom and it's truly a game changer as far as being able to see the ... MoreThis is my first laptop and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend adding a port hub to your list as this device only comes with 2 USB C ports and a MagSafe port. This will make for an easier experience if you use multiple hard drives for photos and videos. To the families of young ones at home, Flamin' Hot Cheetos lovers all the way to the Howie Mandel look-a-likes. It doesn't matter how dirty or clean your hands are, this product will in fact leave fingerprints and residue behind. I highly recommend getting a case/skin for this device. It will add value to your resell when you're ready for an upgrade.Unless you have your suspicions of someone trying to tamper with your device, then this device is 100% for you as you'll have no issue with getting fingerprint evidence.Overall, this is a wonderful investment.
