With it, you can complete just about any task with ease. If all you require is the ability to do some light web browsing, media consumption, and document editing, then you might be better off going with the cheaper MacBook Air. Both computers run off the same M1 chip, the difference being that this device has active cooling. This device is more suited for those who might want to do tasks that require a bit more horsepower: things like photo and video editing, and maybe even some light gaming. In my opinion, the TouchBar is quite useful, dynamically changing based on the application you’re focused on. The TouchID sensor makes logging in to just about anything a breeze. The trackpad is smooth and large. And the keyboard is a major improvement over the butterfly keyboard we saw on a few generations of Apple devices a few cycles ago. This keyboard provides a fantastic typing experience. The screen is bright and vibrant, and the speakers sound great. I would have preferred a bit nicer of a webcam (this one is only 720P), especially considering how prominent video conferences have become, but this one gets the job done. The microphone is solid too. In terms of ports, the 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports and the headphone jack are enough for me, but for many people, it simply won’t be. Content creators who frequently work with SD cards, HDMI cables, and basically any other peripherals will be required to carry a dongle at all times. This is somewhat disappointing. The best part about this laptop though, might be the battery life. One morning, I took the device off its charger after a full charge, walked over to my desk, and used the device with a few safari tabs open and about 3 other applications, and the battery only went down to 97%. Some people are reporting 20 hours of battery life on a single charge. That’s fantastic. The fantastic battery life and extreme processing power make this machine a good value for just about anyone. The one caveat is that, for a much lower price, the MacBook Air offers just about the same power, and similar battery life, for a much lower price. Still, I believe this laptop is a solid choice. I chose this model because I like the TouchBar, and wanted to squeeze out as much power as I could. To me, that was worth the extra money, and I’ve been left quite satisfied.

Right. I haven't had my Mac very long, but I know Apple products and very seriously doubt time will change my review.I upgraded from a 2016 MacBook Pro with Intel 5, which still runs just fine. I wanted the battery life, speed, and most of all a better keyboard. I do a lot of writing so keyboard is important. My 2016 model has a poorly designed keyboard. This 2020 MacBook has a great keyboard and typing is so much easier. The battery is unbelievably long lasting. I have not conducted any time tests, but out of habit from my old one I periodically check how much juice I have left - it is amazing. I'm on my second evening running web pages, chat apps, so on, and the battery is at 40%. And it was not fully charged when I started last night. The monitor is great and ... MoreRight. I'm on my second evening running web pages, chat apps, so on, and the battery is at 40%. And it was not fully charged when I started last night. The monitor is great and the speakers are far above my expectations. I've seen reviews of this laptop and almost always I hear them whining about only having two Thunderbolt ports. My old MacBook has four of them. I never ever used more than two at a time. That is of course my use and needs. Having two ports is not a problem, and if it were there are plenty of expanders, whatever you call them. I don't use video or audio editing apps. I do have a lot of apps open at the same time - Chrome, Outlook, Word, chat apps, YouTube, etc. I have not had any problems running all these apps at the same time. The M1 chip seems to be a winner. Of course I have never been an Intel fan, opting for AMD when I had Windows PCs a long time ago. The Intel i5 in my old Mac did okay. I am guessing that the chip is responsible for draining the battery and if true the i5 is a energy sucking monster.I highly recommend this laptop. I am not a huge gamer, but from what I've read from other reviews the M1 does the job. I was very hesitant to purchase this with 8GB ram, but so far what is under the hood is doing the job. Like I mentioned above, the keyboard is a dream to use, the touchpad is Apple great, the M1 does the job, battery life is super great, and so on. Buy it, you will be happy with this machine - especially if you are abandoning the dark side to move into the light!
Does not come with grounding build in should be illegal to sell. Apparently all the MacBooks from this year come with no grounding build in this means the MacBook emits a strong electronic magnetic field and you feel the electric on the back of the display while plugged in to the wall charger… apple claims it’s normal but it’s not. You need to buy their adapter to get grounding. If you measure the field emission it’s in a dangour zone basically cell mutation… if you get the adapter with the grounding pin everything is normal still should be iligeal to sell.this my first MacBook and last invested in to final cut for testing now I can’t get a refund on everything. I bought this for the thunderbolt capabilities to run a Universal Audio Apollo based audio workstation for home recording. To that end this Mac fell flat. The CPU and memory limitations constantly crashed Pro Tools when even a few popular native plug-ins were applied during the mixing process. Specifically it chugs under Steven Slate Drums MIDI processing, IZotope Ozone 10, and FabFilter mastering software. There are workarounds, such as converting MIDI to audio and bouncing finished audio tracks but this model is not the one you want for a streamline process.Coming from a beefy Windows-based computer to this one fixed the latency issues from USB-based tracking at the exoense of overall system performance. Raving reviews and glowing benchmarks have given this MacBook Pro a great reputation. While it IS superior to its predecessors, you do lose in other areas. Applications that still require Rosetta 2 will NOT blow you away- especially intensive games. While macOS is not typically touted as a gaming platform, I’m disappointed in game performance on titles released a few years ago when compared to performance on higher-end Intel Macs. Additionally, Big Sur was kind of quirky on the lower point releases when this MacBook Pro was purchased. Apart from that, the device is a great, lightweight, and hopefully somewhat future-proof Mac that will last well into the future given Apple’s transition away from Intel. It’s value proposition is somewhat obscured now that the iPad Pros have been released with the same CPUs for very casual users, along with the MacBook Air. I’d say this device is for “intermediate” users perhaps who may do a little bit of multimedia work and native processing on application optimized for Apple Silicon. For those who require workstation class performance and heavy multi-tasking, it would be best to wait for the 16” refresh hopefully soon.
I wavered between the M1 MacBook Pro and Air for many weeks before making the decision. After some heavy research and extensive evaluation of the differences between the two machines, I opted for the Pro. Yes, I paid a premium, but the additional cost was worth it for my computing needs.First and foremost, the new M1 processed is incredible. Coming from Intel equipped MacBook (albeit an aging model), the difference was night and day. Nothing compares to the performance of Apple software being run on Apple silicon. Every action is snappy and instantaneous, downloads and installations of software titles and apps are effortless. You would never know this was a first gen product in any manner. The power management that Apple has been able to achieve is astounding.Overall quality is top notch, just as we all have come to expect of Apple. The keys are perfectly tactile and responsive, the screen is bright, crisp, and easy to look at. The hinge is solid, the aluminum gorgeous. Even the Touch Bar is a wonderful surprise addition that makes executing simple but common actions a breeze.I have absolutely zero gripes with the new M1 MacBook Pro and I expect to be able to rely on this performance powerhouse for another 8-10 years. An incredible value when you factor in the longevity that a MacBook can provide.
A couple months ago, I decided to purchase the Apple MacBook Pro. It first came out in 2020 with M1 processor. The reasons for me to buy it were simple, it had to be: Fast, Easy to navigate on, Able to connect with other Apple devices - Apple’s ecosystem, Convenient for school work, Cooperative with Corel Draw (again for school purposes).I must admit that it has it all. I'm not going to deny it, I never intended to and I never will, to use it for more professional work, such as graphic designer. For that profession I’d recommend the newest version from 2021. I agree, it’s definitely more pricy, however for more demanding users, I believe, that this would be a choice. I’ve been working of my laptop for a few months, and before I became a MacBook user, I had Windows. At first I anticipated, that it’d be quite perplexing for me to switch into macOS, but to my surprise it wasn’t as hard as it seemed. What I adore about MacBook is that, if you already own an iPhone, AirPods or other Apple device, it corresponds with them. For instance I can copy a note on my phone and then paste it on MacBook just in a few seconds. As for people who don’t own any of Apple’s products, I’d recommend choosing a different laptop, just because you won’t be able to fully experience what it has to offer, for example previously mentions copying, as well as many other useful things. Nevertheless if you feel like buying it, I recon that you should definitely go for it. All in all it’s a very decent device.
