It was a choice between this or the latest Microsoft Surface laptop. Since I'm both a musician and a software developer, I was leaning towards the MS laptop due to the need for MS's Visual Studio IDE. Back when Apple used Intel chips, dual-booting between MacOS and Windows was a no-brainer, but I wasn't sure if I could do the same with Apple Silicon.Sure enough, using Parallels with Windows 11, I'm able to run the Windows dev applications I need. Better still, I can run them in application windows alongside Mac applications, outside of the Windows 11 desktop UI. And I can run native MacOS testing tools like Postman and test and debug my code running under Windows on the same machine. Neat. I was able to take a project I started under Windows and continue it with no issues on my new Macbook Pro. And using a Thunderbolt dock, I was able to plug in all of my outboard equipment (Helix guitar processor/audio interface, MIDI keyboard controller, DAW controller, license dongles for plugins, etc) that I needed to use.Now, gaming is still hit-or-miss, mostly "miss". A lot of the games I play just run better on a beefy Windows machine with a good dedicated GPU as opposed to the Mac. I installed a few casual games to play on here when I'm travelling, but I still use my Windows machine for daily development work and games that require a bit more performance.All in all, I'm extremely happy with the choice and I don't feel like I'm missing out by not going with the MS Surface. I have everything I need, the machine is quite responsive and capable, and I have no worries about it lasting a while.

As for my Lenovo slim 7i the Nvidia gpu failed while I had it in dgpu mode and it was at there service center for a few weeks and it was returned to me with a screw missing in the heatsink and a huge bulge in the bottom panel because the tech didn't properly tuck the battery cable where it goes along with the battery bracket broken and said they wanted pics of it before I had sent it to them in order to repair it again. Basically what I'm getting at is I've always had a good experience with Apple products. From their Phone's iPad's to the 13" 2015 MacBook Pro that I still use and customer service everything's just worked as I expected with little to no hiccups. I believe this laptop will last as long as any other Apple product I've had and I'm completely satisfied with this expense.

It wasn't like having a new machine, it was like using the one I just traded in for this one.More about me: I'm not just an Apple Fanboy because I also own Windows and Android devices as well but the older I get the more wiser I become. Apple devices just work so darn well together or by themselves. Sure you can change Memory or drive space in a Windows machine and they mostly have touchscreens but I have never used a touchscreen even though I have one. Allow me to explain: If you buy a iWatch, AirPod, iPad, Mac or iPhone, you will be able to bring in those devices for repair or replacement to a Best Buy or Apple Store. If you have a iPhone cracked screen, camera that doesn't work, or speakers, B.B. certified Apple Repair technicians "Geeks" will either fix these and numerous or other hardware issues with Apple OEM parts or ship your devices out to Apple for repair or replacement. Did I mention if you've done a recent back up of your iPhone and it has to be sent out for repair that B.B. has iPhone loaners in store so you won't have to go without? (based on availability of course).
