The mighty mouse was good, but the scroll wheel always stopped working after a while - even when cleaning it. This version of what was already a very good and versatile mouse fixes the biggest problem with the earlier model -- the battery compartment in the bottom. The cover for that compartment was difficult to keep in place when moving the mouse over pads while in use and loosened more over the passage of time. The new model maintains all the functionality of the mouse with no opening on the bottom (it has a longer life rechargeable lithium battery) and can be recharged overnight when necessary. It's a win-win in all respects......

Even then, if you really don't like your (lack of) customisation, then there's nothing else that Apple offers, other than letting you install apps to do things that they should have integrated themselves, which are bound to only work for a few months before they are inevitably broken by Apple themselves.If you're looking for a good mouse, look for something like the MX Master 3 - this has a fraction of the functionality, a minuscule portion of the customisability and none of the ergonomics for the same price.

If you're using MacOS then this is the mouse you want to use with it because it allows you to use all the single and double finger swipe gestures you can use on the Mac trackpad. In fact, using MacOS with a typical mouse is like trying to use your foot to mouse with - it feels weird and uncomfortable. Great reliability and the fact it's rechargeable makes it the perfect mouse for me now (my first was the original magic mouse and I was constantly swapping out the batteries, rechargeable or not). I go a month at a time (at least) between charges and it gets used hours a day. I can't really say much more or speak more favorably about it. And yes, this price is perfect. You would think a mouse only has a very simple job to do: click stuff. This item is unable to do that job. The tracking speed is horrific. It is nearly impossible to click somewhere precise (for example the X to close a window). You have to circle around your target like a hunter around its prey. After three attempts and the mouse overshooting trice you might be able to close a window. Look it up online (google e.g. 'apple mouse slow tracking') and you will find 1380+ people complaining about horrible lag. You will also find a thread of people seriously sharing 'tips' on how to be able to use their fancy mouse, ranging from cutting out a binder cover and gluing it to your desk, to buying a new desk, to covering the bottom of the mouse in sticky tape. (Tried nearly ... MoreYou would think a mouse only has a very simple job to do: click stuff. This item is unable to do that job. The tracking speed is horrific. It is nearly impossible to click somewhere precise (for example the X to close a window). You have to circle around your target like a hunter around its prey. After three attempts and the mouse overshooting trice you might be able to close a window. Look it up online (google e.g. 'apple mouse slow tracking') and you will find 1380+ people complaining about horrible lag. You will also find a thread of people seriously sharing 'tips' on how to be able to use their fancy mouse, ranging from cutting out a binder cover and gluing it to your desk, to buying a new desk, to covering the bottom of the mouse in sticky tape. (Tried nearly all of them except for buying new furniture, can attest it did not work. Now I'll go ahead and buy a mouse that's a tenth of the price.)
