Apple Pencil expands the power of iPad mini, iPad Air and iPad, and opens up new creative possibilities. It’s sensitive to pressure and tilt so you can easily vary line weight, create subtle shading and produce a wide range of artistic effects — just like a conventional pencil, but with pixel-perfect precision.

Comfortable pen to hold and use. A great help for those of us with issues such as Raynaulds, when a screen cannot respond to the touch of fingertips. The tip of the pen is sensitive and the material sufficiently durable but soft not to damage my iPad screen (other pens have had issues). I just wish the pen had been more versatile and been able to be used on my iPhone as well! The only negative aspect would be the recharging. Although the fast charging point is very convenient, to actually have the pen protruding from the side of the tablet is not the best or safest solution. I suspect this has been addressed in the updated Generation 2 version (which also has the magnetic attachment to the tablet). However, just be aware of this when using a First Generation pen/pencil.

I bought this weeks ago while at college and finally got home to try it out. My iPad is an iPad Pro 12.9 inch and recently updated. The Apple Pencil would not stay connected long enough in order to pair with my iPad. I have tried restarting my iPad multiple times and left the pencil to charge for periods of time, nothing worked. It's lightning connector is damaged and cannot maintain a secure connection, as when given the option to pair, the box will disappear before I have the option to tap "pair". In the "About" tab in settings, the Apple Pencil options would repeatedly appear and disappear, further proving the connector is broken. While there is no visible damage on the outside and came in the box with all the paper inside it, it looked in good condition externally.

After buying the latest iPad with the latest Apple Pencil (generation 2) for Christmas presents we learn that two products are incompatible! We returned and ordered the 1st generation pencils. We bought 2 pencils for 2 new 10th generation iPads. It takes a special adaptor that comes with the pencil but need a charging cord that you have to buy separately. We went to the Apple Store and they told us that the pencils weren’t working because we needed a new charging cord for them. Now we buy new cords and we are back on the phone with Apple support that was little support. “You need to get the pencils replaced, so we are going back to the Apple Store to try yet again. We love Apple products but I have to say, this product combo is not worthy of the Apple name.
