This is a remarkable gadget. I'd held off on an Apple Watch, but now as they do most of the important things totally independent of an iPhone, it's now useful to me (being able to make phone call, do text, some internet functions, etc., without also carrying a phone). So for all kinds of times that I'm really active, this thing is amazing.I'll get into a few of my thoughts for those of you that have maybe been on the fence about taking the plunge on one of these. Note that my background is heavily in Apple products (and other OS's, I've worked in software development, and have worked within and supported lots of platforms, but it's Apple stuff when it's up to me).So the good/great: it's really almost unbelievable that a device this small can do everything it ... Note that my background is heavily in Apple products (and other OS's, I've worked in software development, and have worked within and supported lots of platforms, but it's Apple stuff when it's up to me).So the good/great: it's really almost unbelievable that a device this small can do everything it does. I actually like the way they have the iPhone app do the heavy lifting on really all of the setup and updating, cause obviously that tiny watch screen has its limitations. The battery life...I mean, there's only so much you can fit into such a tight space. I mostly get a full day out of it, depending upon use, obviously. The Watch OS itself...I'm just getting used to it. Tons of really smart UX decisions and thoughtful ways that Apple has worked around and dealt with the small size. But every new tip and trick I learn makes it all that much easier.Further, if you haven't already figured this out, you know, you've gotta go 'all in' with one of the wireless airpod sets to really use everything on the watch. I went with the AirPods Pro. They are frankly near unbelievable. I'm a former audio guy. Given the ridiculous constraints here, size, weight, battery life, all of it...the sound is fantastic. They feel great. They stay in. The charger/case itself is a little bit of genius, the approach used there. So, the 'sort of' bad: I will say that there can occasionally be a little bit of confusion regarding audio routing, and like any new device, I'm learning some of the 'rules' there. So for instance, I obviously use iPhone, the AirPods work with that and the Watch, and like everyone, I also connect frequently to other bluetooth audio devices, and like at least many of you, I also connect the iPhone to audio devices via Airplay. So there can be a little 'handoff' stuff that happens, I think...one device not 'letting go' of a bluetooth device and/or being able to move over to Airplay, and then on the other end of things, for instance, when I'm on a call at home, I'm hitting my wifi obviously, the call itself...it may or may not be using iPhone for it, and then I leave the phone at home and go for a walk with the Watch...I can kind of count on something falling apart on that transition. In fact, not positive, haven't tested, but I think the call itself is just dropped when I'm out of range of the phone. So I call back, etc. from the Watch to reinitiate from scratch. Still feeling out these kinds of issues, and probably that could be a little frustrating for people while the learning curve is happening. At one point I just. flat. couldn't. get the Watch to reconnect to the AirPods after connecting to a bluetooth speaker, and had to actually restart the Watch. And all was well again. So do I wish the battery went just a tiny bit longer? Sure. Would it be great if every single possible audio and connection combination I like to use worked perfectly every single time no matter what, with no rules whatsoever? Yep, and that's not yet happened with any piece of equipment I've ever owned. Wouldn't it be great if this watch were half the price that it is? Uh huh. But all in all, it is just flat amazing. Remarkable. Incredible. I love it. And I find myself using it more, and more, and more, as I get used to playing by its completely understanable rules.

Having been a hold-out on getting an Apple Watch until now, I am definitely a happy owner. I have been wearing my now 14+ year old Seiko automatic watch daily, and loved it for it's ruggedness, looks and the fact that it has not needed any service for its entire life to date. But I'm now sold on the connectedness aspect the Watch offers and in the past week I'm already pulling out my iPhone less, especially in work situations where I need to see who is emailing or texting me without looking like a jerk by grabbing my iPhone during meetings / conversations. I'm also surprised by how much I like the lightweight aspect of the aluminum Watch. My Seiko is a heavy stainless piece, so I was always aware of it on my wrist. With the Watch, I forget it's there - and the Nike sport band with its added holes helps keep my wrist from getting hot (although it's been cold so it's less of an issue right now). Even with my using the Watch more during the day now, as I get used to what it can do for me, I'm still getting through the day with between 30% and 40% battery life remaining. And that's generally with my wearing it from 5am until 10pm. And the 30% day, included taking a couple of calls on it, as well as using Maps for directions twice, so it's definitely got enough battery life to get through a typical work day for me. If you're on the fence for getting one, I'd say take the plunge now.

Great watch, for a great price. I got this to monitor my sleep at night, because I'm always falling asleep randomly through the day. This is my first Apple Watch and I've had it for about a month now. It has helped a lot with regulating my sleep as well as motivate me to get exercise, work on my overall health, remember important tasks/remember to text/call my friends/family back (I have ADHD), and find my iPhone with a ping button because I'm constantly losing it. Feeling the watch buzz on my wrist really helps, because I'm prone to tuning auditory stimuli out. If you're an iPhone user and have a hard time managing your daily life, the Apple Watch is a must have, even without cellular. Or I guess you could just find a way to strap your phone to your wrist, but that might get annoying. As far as features go, you've got a great little touch screen (probably better for smaller fingers). The screen always stays on but dims when not holding it towards your face, so you always know the time and other stats set on the screen. It mirrors your phone notifications, but only when you are looking at the watch. The watch can be set to be PIN protected, so when you take it off, no one can use it unless they have the PIN (you only need to enter the PIN when you put the watch back on). You can quickly send messages to people with presets, emojis, drawing on the screen with finger, and using your voice. When your phone rings, your watch tells you and has a handoff feature, super helpful if your phone is on silent. You can add all kinds of apps to the watch and add app widget/shortcuts to your watch faces. It's always checking your heart rate and alerts you if something is wrong. It records all of your health data in your phone's health app. Battery probably lasts me around 18 hours. The watch never gets hot. It has silent mode as well as do not disturb and airplane mode. It's got a flashlight, but probably not as good as a real one, since it's just the screen. It has WiFi. If you get water in the watch, there's an on-screen button you push and you blow the water out through the tiny hole in the watch. There's too many features to go over to list in my review, but those are some of the ones I found really helpful. The only time I really take the watch off is to shower and charge the watch.

Most people will be familiar with the basic functions of a smart watch by now. It tells the time, relays your phone notifications to your wrist and has a slew of health features. That could be said of any smart watch, but Apple shines in how it all integrates into the Apple ecosystem. If you’re like me, you have low motivation to workout unless you can either see progress or get some data on what you’re accomplishing. Great for those who want to do something but aren’t naturally inclined to just do it.This is my second Apple Watch (had Series 1). While they’re basically the same with more bells and whistles on the new one, don’t underestimate the usefulness of being faster and more responsive, not to mention things like Fitness+. I’m a generation behind, but unless you absolutely need the blood oxygen monitor, Series 5 is great and can be had much cheaper if the right deal comes along.
Put short- this is a great smart watch. It is the perfect companion to an iPhone and makes for a great activity tracker. It is fast and does the job right. Battery life is no issue as I wear it all day long, and it's usually at 40% at the end of the day after more than an hour of workouts and plenty of general use.I will say, though, that my particular device had two issues: one being a slight fault with the display, and the other being an almost unnoticeable gap between the bottom edge of the display and the case of the watch itself. Regarding the fault with the display, though, is that it will start bugging out if there is direct sunlight reaching the bottom ambient light sensors. Regarding the fault with the display, though, is that it will start bugging out if there is direct sunlight reaching the bottom ambient light sensors. What happens is that the display will dim immediately when it faces direct sunlight, and then starts blinking on and off white. The problem is immediately fixed after moving your wrist a bit as it turns the display back on. However, this fix is not permanent since the watch will blink again if it faces the sun. I've done research on this issue and it seems to be pretty widespread, so chances are you will experience this if you buy it, so be warned. To me, it isn't a deal breaker- just a slight annoyance- especially when you keep in mind the price I bought it at, which was a staggering $330 from a Best Buy sale. All in all, if you have the money to spare, it is a great device.
I'm happy with my Apple Watch Series 5. I saved $100 by choosing the 5 than the 6. I don't miss any of the extra enhancements the 6 has. They are insignificant to me now. AT&T is going to charge me an extra $10 per month to add it to my plan so I'll take the savings and - sort of - apply to the AT&T fee for this year.Since I bought it new from Best Buy I was able to get the 2 year Apple Care insurance. I think as soon as the 6 went on sale, the 5 disappeared and Best Buy seems to have gotten a lot of the overstock. Best Buy was the only place that offered the genuine Apple Care package. It's nice to have for peace-of-mind since this is something I'm probably going to use a lot for swim workouts and smacking the lane line with this piece of jewelry is going to happen any day now I'm sure.My last Apple Watch's (Series 1) microphone broke and I consider these device a bit fragile. I still have my Series 1 from at least 5 years ago and I've noticed no degradation of battery life. The Nike version has a few extra watch faces, some green accents on some of the other watch faces and a band with holes. Don't get hung up on these features. I would strongly consider the 5 Series again, especially if I were to find one used for a good price.
I originally had a series 2 Apple watch, the first one that allowed GPS tracking, mainly because I wanted to track my runs without an iPhone in my hand. All well & good, happy to be able to track my efforts. But I began to get upgrade envy when the series 5 came out, figured it had been close enough to 3 years, and decided to pull the trigger on this one. Not sorry at all. Seems to be holding a charge a little longer, though admittedly I am not an intensive user of the watch. It's just more "snappy" with a faster processor. Strava updates to my iPhone more quickly and reliably than before. Favorite face is the solar dial, though a lot of the new options look great, and the increase in screen real estate going from a 42mm series 2 to a 44 series 5 is impressive. Very ... Very happy to have the "always on" watch face as well so I'm not spraining my wrist with forceful forearm pronations like I used to sometimes have to do when I wanted the watch to wake up. I was considering the Nike (Velcro) sport loop, may get around to it still, but at the moment, I've been liking the included standard elastomer sport band more than I thought I would. So, especially if you're already a denizen of the Apple ecosystem, chances are you'll be quite happy with this latest and greatest Apple Watch. Also can't help but plug Best Buy here for aMAZing customer service. I've actually had two brand new Apple Watch series 5's in the span of 3 weeks. Wiped out on my bike Christmas afternoon & scratched up the face of the first one pretty egregiously...BB helped me out "above & beyond" with replacing it.
Received a say late. Not a big deal. Came in a cardboard box inside a bootleg ziplock bag, cling wrapped to cardboard. The watch face was scratched up like some one has never heard of a watch bumper or screen protector. The places where the band locks color scuffed and scratched off. The charger face (silver part) was also scratched up (how…why?) The sport band…MIA, received a plain black band. Did not attempt to set up, returned. For $80 more couldve gotten a brand new watch.
This is the smartwatch, perfected. After using Android for 8 years, along with an Android smartwatch for the last two, I am back with Apple. The Apple Watch and iPad were the primary reasons for going back. Android has nearly abandoned tablets, and their Wear OS has been neglected compared to Apple's development of WatchOS. So now I am an "i guy" once more! I was excited to find out Apple was enabling an always-on display mode this time around, and the Nike digital watchface is my go-to. The ventilated silicone band is sporty, functional, and can pass for reasonably professional in all but truly formal situations. The color of the band is really just a dark gray with a slightly darker, more "black" color peeking out in the holes. This ties in with the black aluminum ... MoreThis is the smartwatch, perfected. The color of the band is really just a dark gray with a slightly darker, more "black" color peeking out in the holes. This ties in with the black aluminum finish of the watch itself. I keep a bumper cover on it too (by Caseology), which matches the band color perfectly and protects the finish of the watch. Add a thin film screen protector and you're ready for the gym. The apps are great -- much more what a smartwatch can and should be than what Google has done. I particularly enjoy the activity and sleep tracking (outside app required for the later, for now...), but also responding using Siri to texts, and much more. These watches aren't cheap, and I would NEVER pay $800 for the stainless version, but you actually do get value and function for that still-steep pricepoint. In short, I am loving my new watch! :)
I did not receive the Nike bands with this watch as advertised. When message cs they advised I need to go to a Best Buy or return through mail.I asked if I could return the bands and them send the proper ones and they said no. Asked if I can get something refunded they said no. I saw another review that they did the same thing sent the wrong item.Watch is fine but it’s not what I paid for or wanted .
