I needed a “cold contact” relay for operating a garage door in the Apple HomeKit. This is a vey neat device…connect an AC cord and the relay contacts. Included instructions don’t have any wiring information but the wiring can be found on Aqara website for the device. An Aqara hub is necessary to interface the module into Apple HomeKit (using an Aqara E1 hub).

This solved an issue where I wanted to automate a Draper Targa Projection Screen without having to buy one of their expensive IR remotes. This relay gave me the ability to use Siri voice assistant, and a Leviton scene controller To operate up and down, Using the low voltage momentary contact switch option in the Aqara app. This relay has the ability to set a 300 ms momentary push button. Keep in mind you need to get an E1 hub to control and put the relay into HomeKit or your other favorite smart home platform.

Device comes in minimal packaging and provides a bridge cable for wet connect setups. Included product manual is possibly one of the worst I've seen and offers little to no info. Aqara website offers more detailed information on the types of installations available to suit different needs. If you have little electrical knowledge this product is not very user friendly as far as the installation goes, but once the product is installed the Aqara app is extremely intuitive as far as setup. In my particular case I ran into issues installing this with my garage door opener due to the fact that Aqara does not provide guidance if you are using a wall controller, plus an external keypad door opener. This device was a little intimidating to install and the fact that the manual it comes with does not actually have instructions didn't help. If you scan the QR code in the manual you can get a better set of instructions with some helpful examples for how to wire and utilize it. I still have to do some work to determine how well it will work with Samsung SmartThings bridge since the manual says you need their hub but also imply it works with others. Aqara is listed and smart things so I hope I don't have much trouble. I honestly thought it would be a little bit more user friendly. I was planning to use it to automate my garage door but it looks like I need to provide AC power as well which I didn't expect so it's slowed me down.
Just add the hub to my network and thought this was a device to control 2 devices without a hardware situation. My primary goal was to be able to add my MyQ garage door to HomeLink which, from what I’m reading in the extended document it’s possible but will require patching into the wiring of the garage door opener directly. It’s not something I really want to do without a bit more research. Overall this product may be a little bit more involved for most users so I would warn you in advance it’s not for everyone. I’m going to keep it as I do more research as it does state it can control a lot of other devices such as sensors, lighting, garage door, etc. It can control up to 2 devices, just not sure where I would want to use it at this point. I would not recommend ... MoreJust add the hub to my network and thought this was a device to control 2 devices without a hardware situation. The manual is small and hard to read but there are QR codes to bring up a larger version of the more specific wiring information you will need to proceed.
This relay connects via Zigbee protocol to Aqara hub and can be controlled from Aqara app from anywhere in the world. The device is powered by AC voltage anywhere from 85V to 220V or DC voltage from 12V to 60V. Relays input can be shunted to line so outputs will be powered when relays are closed. Shunt wire is included. There's also terminals for 2 mechanical switches to control relays. Typical application is to install this module into dual gang junction box and make 2 light switches smart. App supports smart scenes, timers, schedules and integration with Google Home, Alexa and Apple Home Kit. Another great feature that the module can be powered by 12V DC power supply for low voltage applications. App also have different settings like pulse or stay-on switch mode. Pulse mode is suited for garage switches, stay-on for lighting. In shunted mode app tracks electrical power consumed by switched devices. Pairing button if pressed turns both relays on or off.
Not recommended unless you have the REQUIRED hub from Aqara that this needs to work. It’s pretty disappointing that something as simple as a glorified modern “smart” relay is entirely dumb without a secondary device(hub). That used to be the standard way of doingSmart home devices 10 years ago, but if you can’t bother to put the 50 cent wifi module into your product that connects to wifi on its own, you shouldn’t be in the smart home/smart device space at all. Add to this the not so great instructions and you don’t have a winner for a smart device.
I have a home very high cathedral ceilings with no attic. Just 12” deep, insulation filled bays between the joists. There is no access to add or modify wiring without cutting out a lot of sheetrock. Several rooms have single circuit, switch controlled track lights. I would like to add other electrical fixtures with separate controls. This Aqara Dual Relay module provides that option to me. My first installation is to split a single circuit with two track light rails into two, separately controlled track light rails.I have many Aqara devices. I have had no issues with them over a four-year span. They are well made, simple, value priced and most importantly, reliable. I already have several, Aqara hubs in my home. I have had no issues with them over a four-year span. They are well made, simple, value priced and most importantly, reliable. I already have several, Aqara hubs in my home. Each capable of being paired with over 100 Aqara devices and all using the matter protocol for bridging into my HomeKit system. Most Aqara devices communicate locally using a proprietary, Zigbee 3 standard. Which I have found to be superior to wifi communications. This makes for very fast response times. This T2 product supports matter. It is compatible with virtually all major home automation systems today. Aqara devices can run and process locally. The T2 has both wet contact and dry contact capabilities. And operates on both AC and DC current in a wide range of voltages. It can be used in a dry or wet contact situation. Giving it immensely flexible deployments. It can be used with standard wiring, low voltage landscape devices, garage door openers. The opportunities are limited only by one’s imagination. Well, that and the 10-amp limit for 120V AC set ups. (Most home light & outlet circuits are 15 amp circuits.)The T2, like many Aqara devices, offers energy consumption monitoring via the Aqara app which I find useful in helping to reduce our household electrical consumption. With the right settings in the app, the T2 can be powered off existing switches for “normal” manual operation of connected devices on the circuit. This is an important feature for all smart home devices so that visitors and other home occupants can operate home fixtures without needing to know all one’s home automation commands. The provided manual only guides one on setting up the T2 on an Aqara hub. But, there is a QR code that takes one to an Aqara website with much more detail on various wiring schemes. I found this fantastic YouTube video (link below) that offers a plethora of wiring ideas and demonstrations.(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToJHXnb9BR8&ab_channel=TechWithBrett)The T2 relay is Intertek listed and is small enough to easily fit inside an electrical box as recommended by Aqara. A DIN rail mount is provided which can be used to secure it inside a a proper sized electrical box.
