I bought my Atom LT on the outlet store last summer but didn't wear it until the fall. I used it for 30 - 40 hours of backpacking over a two month period, and sporadically on short hikes and while walking my dogs. I had bought a second jacket in the same class as the Atom from a budget brand and only used the Atom when the forecast was calling for high winds due to its amazing hood.Midway through the fall, I noticed the back side of the Atom's zipper garage had begun not only to pill, but appeared to be shriveling up and dissolving (see first picture). I decided to wait until next spring to have that work done and put the jacket into storage.It got unexpectedly warm and windy this week, so I took the jacket out of storage and noticed, for the first time and to my dismay, that there are two large holes in the insulation in the back of the jacket (see second picture). Shining a light on the jacket revealed that much of the remaining insulation in the back has begun to thin and separate. A detailed inspection also revealed insulation escaping through the stitching (see third picture) and pilling on the brim (see fourth picture).My budget insulated jacket, in contrast, still looks new, despite even more use than the Atom. My Gamma LT, which I always wore over the Atom and the budget jacket, and which I've never been delicate with also still looks new.I will never buy another insulated jacket from Arc'teryx and may turn towards other brands in the future for my high-end, outdoor performance clothing needs.

Just got in the mail. AND I LOVE IT. I put it on and it fit like a sock. I thought it wasn't going to keep me warm against the cold, but it did. I went outside in 30 degree weather and decided that yes i stayed as warm as a sock. I love it although it doesn't have gor tex its still loveable like a sock. Im sweating like a sock right now right this in my Atom LT hoody in a 70 degree house. I might just wear this to bed no blanket no kizzy, AC on FULL blast. It’s insane how useless this warranty is on a jacket this price. It essentially had a materials failure due to sweat from normal use (back to the deterioration in quality I mentioned earlier), and the “warranty” does not cover anything.So if you buy it, take notice of the extremely thin material. Definitely don’t use it in an outdoor/hiking/backpacking/skiiing/etc. (like the brand likes to advertise) because it is not a quality product that will last.

I have an Atom LT hoddie and jacket in medium. A little too small but quite usable as mid layers. A third jacket in large. Love it for North Carolina climate alone or layered. Feels a little big though.However this current version as of 10/21/22 in large is slimmer in the lower body and like a smaller large but not by much. Certainly allows the winter belly if it comes and goes as mine does. Being 5’7” and 158# this in large is the one for me. New colours are fantastic- the Bitters is like a dark plum/prune with dark maize interior that is true to the photos. So glad they made a version that fits me perfectly. Doesn’t happen often with any clothing industries for my size and height. So glad I got another one and now I can give my mediums to others to get them to ... I bought this and the Proton version. I like the extra insulation of the Proton and the exterior material and the fit other than the front which sits a bit higher than the Atom. I also find the hood of the Atom is much larger than the Proton. More than is needed for a helmet. The Atom is a bit looser at the waist hem and sleeves seem a bit baggy to me. Definitely more a casual fit. It has a bit of noisier Denier material too. I’m quite torn between the two only because I have a black Atom and a Bordeaux color Proton. If it was black I’d go Proton. Just seems like a better fitting robust jacket but Atoms good too for the casual wear. Both are great for shoulder season weather and are comfortable to wear. I got this jacket delivered 2/23/23. I wore it 2 times just to work in a Chicago office. It starts to have loose threads pulling on the left arm sleeve. I wore it a total 4 times before I brought it in to the retail store on 3/12/23. I asked them what they could do about the situation and they told me they'd have their professional look at it. I got an email on 3/17 after I had called inquiring about the jacket. They told me "Due to the nature of the damage of this product, it is unfortunately beyond our Limited Warranty. We try our best to keep products going for as long as possible and in some cases, our repair team can help. It was interesting my girlfriend was able to get a full refund for the exact same thing that happened to her with the woman version of this jacket but I wasn't. I'll definitely be telling other people about my experience with the brand.

I love Patagonia products, but some of their stuff fits me so weird. I am 6 foot 165lbs, slim build with broad shoulders and lengthy arms. With the nano puff, it would hike up into my armpits and make it uncomfortable to wear when I am moving around (too much resistance when moving arms) and would also make my jacket armpits stink from wearing it only twice. The large was way bigger and baggier than the MEDIUM I owned (i like fitted clothing) so I decided to finally pull the trigger on an Atom LT. Man… what a great decision. Overall, I love this jacket. I don’t mind spending more money on good equipment that fits my frame very well and comfortably. I hope this review helps others!

I had to return the Pytheas - the brightly colored logo on the left front chest is much brighter (obnoxiously so) than what is represented via the on-line photo.I will be reordering in the Smoke bluff (modest logo on the chest). This is a very versatile lite out layer and a good mid layer. Breaths well as it is designed. Not built for high winds so don't expect that one.I like most of the revisions contained in this 2023 version from my 2019 version. Of course I don't like the higher price and getting close to my price tolerance level. The pulls on the hem are improved and less bulky. I bought my first atom around 7 years ago and I’ve bought a few more since because it’s the only jacket I seem to wear! I don’t wear hoodies or sweaters anymore because I don’t need to. This jacket is an oven, an oven that regulates heat very well, it’s extremely comfortable and packs up small when needed. I also have the Atom AR but it’s a bit too warm for me unless I’m walking outside in -20 below etc. The Atom Lt is more versatile, I can wear it outside in cold conditions, I can layer it, can wear it inside, while driving, wear it going through the airport, on the plane, then pack it up when I arrive at my warmer destination! I also have the Atom AR but it’s a bit too warm for me unless I’m walking outside in -20 below etc. The Atom Lt is more versatile, I can wear it outside in cold conditions, I can layer it, can wear it inside, while driving, wear it going through the airport, on the plane, then pack it up when I arrive at my warmer destination! I wear it for low output activities, and high output activities when it’s extremely cold, but usually end up throwing it in my pack as soon as I break a sweat as a run hot.I am 5’ 11” and 200lbs and would say I’m an athletic build, with broader shoulders, above average arm size, and I’m a 33-34 waist.I usually buy the Atom in an XL as it fits my body type better but this leaves some room at waist for cold air entry, and release of body heat, no bueno. I’ve started going with ordering a Large but this limits what I can wear under it, short and long sleeves, base-layers, smaller mid layers like the Delta and Kyanite are all great underneath the Large for me, the Covert or a thicker 1/4 zip fleece or sweater might be a little snug under a Large for similar body types to mine.Quality has stayed somewhat consistent which I’m happy with and this jacket has slightly changed for the better over the years I’ve owned them.You won’t regret buying this jacket if you’re undecided!
I bought this jacket about two years ago and now I take it on almost every adventure I go on. Originally, I wanted this jacket to fill a gap between the light, barely even a shell, type jackets I had been using for Nordic ski training and the overly hot down puffers I used on cold days in the winter. It doesn't pack down quite as small as some lighter down alternatives but 90% of the time it works for me. I'd say it will satisfy all but the most intense gram counters.3. My Atom is surprisingly warm. I expected to take a hit in thermal efficiency compared to my old down sweater but it is a lot better than I hoped. It isn't as warm as a down puffer of the same weight by any means but it can hold its own in some fairly cold weather. I'm bad at judging or remembering to record temperatures, but I'd say most people will find it a bit warmer than they think it'll be for a "LT" jacket.4. Really well built: A lot of my friends and athletes I know have told me that Arc has some of the best quality gear out there. I wasn't sure what the hype was about until I tired it myself, but I am impressed with this jacket. I haven't beat the life out of mine and I'm fairly hard on gear. Granted, I haven't climbed through any chimneys scraping my arms wall to wall or fallen off my bike into a sand pit wearing it but it has stood up well to regular back country use and daily use around town. It still looks almost brand new and it has seen a lot of action. The design details are also good. The fit of the jacket, hood, and pocket placement is spot on for me. I have never found anything about the jacket that has made me upset or wishing something could be changed. It has just always worked.However, there are still some things about this jacket to note:1. This jacket is still a halfway point thermally. It breathes ok for anaerobic workouts and it is an ok level of warmth when you're paused. For me this works because I do a lot of stop and go activities where having a jack of all trades master of none is my preferred option. If you expect to be pushing it all the way the whole time you work out (and you don't live somewhere where the high is 0 degrees C) or you are static the majority of the time this jacket might leave you an overheated or shivering mess.2. This is a hybrid jacket that puts some fleece panels on the sides. I actually didn't know this when I bought the jacket because my friend who recommended it to me had an older model without this feature. The fleece lets the jacket breath more but that can go both ways. If you are in a really windy or really cold environment this jacket can leak heat REALLY fast. I've had this happen to me a couple of times at static rests near the top of peaks when the tree line gives way and you get blasted by high speed winds. Wearing a hardshell over top can fix this, and the more breathable fleece actually makes this a very pleasant mid layer in my experience. However, if you want a jacket you can keep in your pack that can also work as an additional thermal layer to pull over your other layers (including your shell) you will probably be out of luck (I'd recommend a down layer with a more relaxed fit).Overall, I love this jacket and at its current price it is a really good value which is not something you can normally say about Arc products. I plan to keep on around for the foreseeable future.
