I bought this jacket with the Rush bib pants as well (which are incredible). The colour is beautiful and the pockets are extremely convenient.I wanted a longer jacket for resort days, but read a few reviews that say the length in the torso is annoying for touring (when climbing). I've worn this touring twice so far since purchasing, and didn't have any trouble with the longer cut. I can see it being restrictive if you bought a more fitted size.A note on sizing - I have broad shoulders, so I needed to size up to a large to not feel restricted in my upper body, but find I'm absolutely swimming in the arms and torso. I don't mind too much, but I'm kind of rocking a paper bag princess look. Definitely try this on in person, it's a bit finnicky.

The women's version has NONE of these features. That's just ridiculous. Arcteryx, you can do so much better. Don't use the same name for two jackets that are not the same.

My first gripe is that the hood is not detachable. If you have a look at all the skiers, on any particular day, at any skifield in the World, nobody wears the hood - except if its snowing heavily, or raining. If it's raining, most people leave, and of those that keep skiing, most do wear the hood as it keeps rain from soaking through the vents in your helmet. But then, how often do you ski in the rain? If it's snowing heavily, my estimate is about 15% of people wear the hood - which means 85% (approx) don't wear it. And why would you? Snow doesn't soak through the vents in your helmet (like it does if it's raining). You don't get cold because you have a helmet on, and the hood restricts your peripheral vision. And when you turn you head left or right, the hood doesn't move with you so you can't see to your left (or right). And if you simply don't wear it (like 85% of skiers) it flaps around in the wind, and fills up with snow. For God's sake, make it detachable. I bought a new jacket this year, a Marmot jacket - with a detachable hood. It's brilliant. The hood re-attaches is about 30 seconds if you need it, and if you don't - no hood filling up with snow, or flapping around. Just fold it up and stick it in your side pocket in case you need it. Next, the pocket Arcterix puts on the upper arm, to store your pass. Really, on the upper arm?? I think every single manufacturer in the World puts it on your forearm (except Arcterix), so that to scan your pass on a higher or lower (than usual) pass scanner, you simply raise (or lower) your wrist. Very easy. However if your pass is in a pocket on your shoulder, because you own an Arcterix jacket, and the scanner is higher than your shoulder, you have to try to jump up and down (wearing your skis, or your board) to get high enough for the scanner to read your pass. Same problem is there's a lot of snow, so the scanner is lower than usual - ever tried bending down to get your shoulder low enough to scan your pass when you're wearing skis (or boards) and the scanner is at waist height? Not easy. Pleeeeeeaaase put the pass pocket on the forearm. It's just so much easier. On the subject of pockets, the inside chest pocket is not big enough to store most phones, especially if they have a case. Why do I want to take my phone out of its case everyday so it fits in my ski jacket, then put the case back on the phone when I take my jacket off? Wouldn't it be simpler to make the pocket just a little larger? And put a little insulation on the front side of the jacket, between the phone pocket and the shell, to make the phone battery last a little longer in the cold. And put two, inside chest pockets on your jackets - I need somewhere to put my wallet AS WELL as my phone. Oh, and I need two side pockets to put 'stuff' in, like a handkerchief (because my nose runs in the cold) and a chocolate bar to munch on when I'm hungry, and to put my car/accommodation keys in. It's all pretty simple stuff, if you think about it. My new Marmot jacket has all this stuff. And it's a shell - why can't you do this as well, Arcterix? I'd love one of your shells, and your pants, but until they're more 'user friendly' I'm going to keep wearing my new Marmot jacket. Yes, the colour is a bit boring, but the features are brilliant. And I don't have to jump up and down to scan my pass.

But to hav that happen so soon after purchase is deplorable. My last jacket lasted more than a decade of very hard use. I only replace my zipper once in its life time. The zipper failed recently, that is the reason for the new purchase. I tried to find th jacket with the LEAST bad reviews and crossed my fingers I choose correctly. There were soooooo many bad reviews across all Arcteryx's line of shells. Very scary when someone is willing to drop $900 on a jacket shell. Ultimately Customer service helped resolve my issue. Taking this feature out is not worth the tiny reduction in garment weight.- No Gortex pro- More on this in a sec- The front zipper is not a watertight zipper (why? I have absolutely no idea) but this ABSOLUTELY degrades the effectiveness of this jacket.- The two way zip is annoying. I guess it was done to elevate any issues from the longer length but I find It annoying and makes zipping the jacket incredibly annoying and tedious. 0/10So here’s the crux of this review: for a company that capitalizes on marketing off the backs of “womens equality”, female skiers and feminism, it makes little sense to me why they make their top of the line, FEMALE ski shells at a lesser standard than their mens jacket counterparts. The mens rush jacket is made with Gortex pro, while the women rush jacket is not (80D 3L GORE-TEX fabric with GORE C-KNIT). The mens rush jacket has a powder skirt, the women jacket does not. The mens rush jacket has WaterTight™ Vislon front zip while the woman’s jacket does not. while this is not a review of the Sentinel jacket, I think its important to note that it is ALSO Made with a lower standard (less robust N70p 3L GORE-TEX) than BOTH the top of the line mens shell jackets (Rush Jacket (Gortex pro)and Sabre Jacket (N80p-X 3L)).If I hadn’t received this as a warranty replacement I would not have purchased this jacket. It looks great and functions decently but I genuinely do not understand why they decided to strip down numerous functional (dare I say necessary) design features. At best this choice is just plain stupid and at worst, perhaps sexist?I will personally not be purchasing any ski gear from arctyrx until I see them make some serious changes in their line up of ski gear for women.
Amazing quality shell jacket and construction as ever. Just wish the cut was better (arms too long, body slightly too long). Also the pockets could be much better: pocket on wrist for ski pass - upper arm makes it hard to get through lots of machines without having to lean down. Chest pocket on the outside thats large enough for a large phone - one on either side ideally. The pockets on this one are blocked when i wear a backpack so cant use. The inside pockets are useless. I really need 2 larger pockets with zips so i can safely put my max size phone and other items away safely). With these changes this would be the perfect jacket for me.
I was very excited to receive this top-line ski shell. The first day I got the package, I tested all the pull strings, and they were all fine except for the one on the hood. One side of the string broke off from the end piece that holds them together. I wasn't using extreme force or anything close to that. Very disappointed that I found quality issues before I even started skiing.I was debating between the Burton gore tex pro jacket and this one, I trusted Arcteryx quality but gotta say this is very disappointing. Would not recommend spending tons of money and risking the chance of going through something like this.
Jacket arrived today, slightly surprised as the color is a fair bit lighter than it is in the images, could be a bad thing, but in my opinion looks better than in the image.
