The Arc’Teryx Atom LT women’s hooded insulated jacket can be worn as an intermediate insulation layer in fair weather or as a layering piece in cold conditions. Lightweight and highly compressible, it stores and carries easily for your city outings as well as far-away trips.Layering is the key of keeping you dry, warm and using your energy efficiently. Put into the right systems, a good sequence of layers moves moisture away from your skin, conserves or dissipates heat and provides you with weather protection. Here they are. The first layer, worn next-to-skin will provide warmth and quickly move moisture away from your skin. Then, the second layer, is the insulation and fleece, that provides warmth while also dissipating heat during periods of high output. And finally, the third layer, the shell, which is the most weather-protective layer, worn on the outside of all other layers.

I'm not usually someone who does reviews, but I bought this jacket in the spring, and I wish I had bought something else. My first complaint is that it shows dirt and grime very quickly, the wrists feel like a ribbon material, and the discolouring comes on quickly. I would not recommend having this jacket as a standalone, which is what I was hoping it would be. You need a Gortex cover; otherwise, this hoodie will look dirty and get torn very quickly. Yesterday a spark touched my sleeve, and it burned a massive hole in no time at all. So it's completely ruined now. Save your money and go with something else. If you want a "hoodie," just buy a hoodie, and get a jacket that's more durable than this.

I first got this jacket back in September and didn't have a ton of use for it as it was unseasonably warm for early fall. I decided to test in a -80C freezer (for storing ice cores). It worked great for my expedition in/out of the walk-in freezer for getting samples. But as the temperatures started to dip at night (into the 30s F), I started grabbing this more and more especially for early morning or nighttime dog walks. It's a very flexible piece of clothing for a range of temperatures and activities. With the breathable sides, it keeps you from overheating while moving. But at the same time it provides a nice layer of warmth while being light-weight.The fit is a bit more boxy, or less tailored than I was expecting. But I came to really love it overall. The color ... The fit overall was true-to size and worked well with a thin under-layer (long-sleeve) or under a water-proof shell. We took it out backpacking for 4 days up in northern Maine this past weekend and it was perfect! We had temperatures ranging from low 20s to 60s and this was my go to warm-up as soon as we stopped. It did a decent job of blocking wind on the peak as well as keeping me toasty at the campsite. Other than getting a bit smoky from our campfire, it's in great condition. I really love my new jacket and will be using it as the default warm coat for both serious hiking/outdoor activities in all seasons to casual walking the dog at night.

The Atom LT jacket has been my favorite piece of clothing I have ever owned. Bought my first one almost 10 years ago and this is my third! All going strong still! I wear this jacket at some point every season of every year. There have been some minor changes to the design over the years. The most notable on the newest model are a stitched logo instead of reflective one on the chest, new zipper pulls, streamlined elastic pulls in the hemline, and new color options. It seems like the fit may have been *slightly* taken in as well, which I actually love because the large has always been a little big on me. I use this jacket as a mid layer and outer layer so a little extra room never hurt. All of my other Arcteryx jackets are mediums but are also all lighter weight. The ... I use this jacket as a mid layer and outer layer so a little extra room never hurt. All of my other Arcteryx jackets are mediums but are also all lighter weight. The medium in the Atom LT is too small so I went for the cozy feeling of the large. I’m 5’8” and 150lbs for reference and usually wear a large in most other jacket brands. My Atom LTs have been through a lot. The things I can’t stress enough about this jacket are it’s versatility, quality, and comfort. It gets thrown in my pack for every single climbing trip, backpacking trip, alpine trail run, and car camping trip, plus I grab it from the closet when I get a little chilly at the office or at home. I live in Colorado so the weather is constantly changing and a layer that packs up relatively small and can serve many purposes is key. The synthetic insulation in this jacket will still perform if wet (unlike down), the water and wind repellent face fabric is ultra durable and effective but not stiff, and the panels on the sides make sure you’re not overheating and allows the whole garment to breath wonderfully. The hood is also large enough to just fit over a climbing helmet and the tall neckline when zipped all the way up can help keep more warm air in. When I bought my first one I figured I needed to baby it since I dropped so much money on it. I quickly realized that it wanted to get out there and get dirty with me though. Luckily I found out that it could easily survive weekends jamming myself into sandstone crack climbs in Indian Creek, evening campfires, sweaty hikes, and even the washing machine and dryer for many many years without almost any signs of additional wear and tear. Little additions like fleece lined pockets and a zipper guard at the chin just make this thing a dream to wear.I also cannot say enough good things about their warranty program. This jacket will last you a lifetime. Have sent in 3 Arcteryx garments now for repair. Have never been charged, received amazing customer service, and in some cases they addressed other minor issues with the garment while it was in for repair as an added bonus.I honestly have to say that the Sundance color was not my favorite. I’m usually a black and neutral color kind of girl. After having it for a month though, it’s really growing on me!! I have received a few compliments from other women on the color too.I have convinced a handful of friends to purchase one of these after I can’t stop talking about them, and they have all come back with the same rave reviews. It speaks volumes that they have it on in every single one of their adventure photos too! I would recommend this jacket to literally anyone, whether a weekend warrior, or a hard core athlete.

I love pretty much everything about this jacket. The fabric is soft and has just enough stretch for comfortable ease of movement. It is breathable while still having good water resistance. Good warmth for the weight. The fit is slim through the body but cut appropriately so that it doesn't get too tight around "athletic" hips and also doesn't have excess fabric to bunch up around the chest or in the back. Works great solo or under a shell. Would probably best as a midlayer in very cold temps or with low activity but will be good as a top layer for winter running or hiking. My favorite thing is the length - on an average torso it extends below the waist and covers the bottom so that the jacket doesn't creep up when wearing a hiking pack with a hip belt like so many ... My favorite thing is the length - on an average torso it extends below the waist and covers the bottom so that the jacket doesn't creep up when wearing a hiking pack with a hip belt like so many others do.Some further notes:Cuffs are narrow and tight - good to keep cold air from creeping up the arms without wrist bulk but it is difficult to push the sleeves up very far.The hood is designed to accommodate a helmet. This extra volume is slightly awkward when not wearing one but it does cinch down pretty well.Pockets are adequate - two external zip pockets and one internal zip. Not overly large but well-placed.There is no mechanism for compression packing of this hoody - either independent from the jacket itself or within an existing pocket.I am normally an XS in most outdoor gear but sized up to a small in this hoody - fits great with the size-up.
Bought this jacket again after watching it for months to go on sale (lost my first one on a trip). This is hands down the best jacket for me for temps as high as 60°F to as low as 25-30°F.It has a flattering fit, it’s extremely functional, NOT bulky, keeps wind out, has a hoodie that really covers and keeps you warm.I own several jackets from comparable brands, and I always reach for this one!Waiting for the day this jacket is also made in a slightly longer length - which I’ll buy too!Keep an eye for a discount or use your REI dividend, but worth every penny!
I was not able to test this jacket out while being active in order to experience it's full magnificence. I did try it on and tested it on a short walk on a cold very windy day (the day the storms came through the midwest and caused a huge tornado in Kentucky). The jacket was warm, but not warm enough to block out cold winds. I bought it when looking for a breatheable midlayer for winter activities. I wish I could keep this AND the Atom AR since they both have very different purposes. This would be perfect for all general usage at high output (a walk and downhill skiing are not high output), but at low output all you feel is the breathability without much warmth. A wonderful feel and build and fit on this jacket though! I wish I could have kept it. I'm 5'9" and ... Love love love this lightweight jacket. The size overall is generous (I bought a large and a medium - ended up keeping the medium). I can layer a thin long-sleeve shirt under this and still feel comfortable zipping it up and loading up the pockets. It's insulated enough to be a not-quite-cold, not-quite-warm outer layer, but thin enough to layer under heftier parkas or rain jackets. The hood actually covers your head and comes out enough to keep rain off your face, but not so much that it impacts your field of vision. It packs down small and is so comforting to wear while traveling. The hoodie version is more sporty and casual than the non-hoodie version, but it still has a tidy and streamlined appearance that blends well in most environments. Washes fairly well, ... At regular price, it's worthwhile to own at least Atom LT and get rid of some of those older jackets that are not-quite-right, but those $$$ do make a hard case against getting more than one. Overall, fantastic jacket that goes with me everywhere.
I wanted to love this so much. The Mesmer color online looked like this beautiful vibrant pink, and I always love the punchy bright colors Arc'teryx makes. In person, this is actually more like a muted lilac or orchid purple color, and not vibrant at all, in my opinion. I grabbed some photos in natural light that might be helpful. I always order XS from Arc'teryx but this was really big on me. The torso is longer than usual and it seemed wider too. It looks like on the Arc'teryx site they might make an XXS in this but I am not seeing anything in stock. I am sure it performs great, but aesthetically the color and fit just wasn't for me. Now if you make this in that vibrant candy pink color like it appears online and in an XXS I will be the first in line to grab it!!
I have had my hoodie since 2019 and have worn in on most outdoor activities I've done from climbing 14ers, skate skiing, camping, being cold at a restaurant...you name it. It is amazingly warm but light weight and fits a broad temperature range. Slim enough to wear as a base layer under other jackets. I can't speak highly enough about this jacket.I'm also 5'4" and find that many jackets have long arms. This one fits perfectly even for petite women.I have also found that it's held up to everything without showing any signs of wear and tear.
I went to my local REI to get a different Arc’Teryx jacket, tried it on, loved it but saw this jacket hanging on the rack next to it. I intend to use this jacket as an insulating layer under a substantial shell (different brand) as part of a 3-in-one system for snow sports like snowshoeing, hiking and snowmobiling - not snowboarding etc. I tried on this jacket and liked it so much I opted for this one instead of my original choice. I sized up one size to allow for layers to fit underneath - the jacket otherwise would be a trim fit. I love the fit and feel of the jacket. I often have problems with sleeve length but these sleeves are long enough. Yay. The elastic band at the wrist is not adjustable but is very comfortable and works well. The hood fits very well and the adjuster is perfectly placed at the back of the head. When pulled tighter, the hood cinches down just over the ears in a very comfortable manner. Other hoods seem to just cinch around the face and can be uncomfortable. I wore the jacket in Montana in 10ºF with the hood cinched down and it was so comfortable, I forgot I had it on. I was not expecting to pay so much for a jacket but now, having had the jacket for a few months and wearing it a lot, I just love the jacket. It’s very functional and exceptionally comfortable.
