When I took this out of the box, I was impressed with the feel and softness of the material. I love the color blue, and the color block style on the sleeves adds to the design. This is a size medium, which I usually wear, and it fit great. It clings to the body, but is not constricting, making it comfortable to wear.I used it on a few hiking trips, when the temp was about 45-52 degrees. They were morning hikes in AZ, and it was chilly, I started out with this as a base layer, under a lightweight vest. About a half mile into my hike, I removed my vest and just wore this layer. It was quite comfortable, and kept me pleasantly warm. When temps began to rise to about 54-55 degrees, I did start to sweat. This layer is quite breathable. I did not even notice any pressure, itching, etc that usually accompanies other base layers. The feel of this material—-sooooo soft—-was especially noteworthy. It’s unlike any other base layer I have used.

Love the fabric and the color, soft, stretchy, but agree with other reviewers that the sizing has changed. I wear an XS in all my Arcteryx gear and this one was pretty tight on me in the armpit and chest so I will be sizing up to a size S instead. Luckily it is still in stock in Phantasm which is a nice deep eggplant color!

Almost perfect, extremely comfortable. Washes well with minimal shrinkage. After hiking in it for 7+miles in 45°/65° temperatures, I noticed that I had to wear a jacket with it due to it being very breathable. Air flows right through it. Bonus, it wicks away the sweat due to its breathability. After three days straight of hiking the major down fall is it holds the stinky armpit smell. I would say that it would make very good sleep wear, but not a good fit for the hiking community.Taking it on the ski slopes would be an excellent idea for this shirt.

The style itself is very flattering, as are the colors. I absolutely love the two-toned slate blue color, which acts as a neutral. The length is great - not too much excess fabric but plenty long enough to avoid drafts. For me personally, I would love to see a turtleneck version of this for the extra warmth and would personally prefer that the torso was a bit tighter to avoid it wrinkling under other layers. The base layer exceeded my expectations for comfort, warmth, and moisture-wicking. I wore this on a several mile snowshoeing trip around White Pass, Washington through deep snow and fully anticipated typical wet sleeves that accompany that sort of activity. It was also extremely cozy and perfect for warmer casual wear as well - didn't want to take it off!
Love the color and comfy fit of this shirt. VERY soft inside and outside. Wore it on a strenuous and cold hike and it was perfect. It has held up perfectly after a few washes (softness, color & fit). I really like the way they have done the collar, it’s so soft on your face when you’re putting it on! I can say all good things about this top except that it does run a little small. I usually wear large, but the extra large fit perfectly.
“I received this product for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review.” This well articulated Arc'teryx polyester/elastine base layer is a comfortable & functional fit due to the attention to the technical details that allow it move with you. I am 5'8" tall and typically wear an 8/10 in Arc'teryx sizing. This women's medium is just right. The sleeve length at about 24"covers over the wrist and the body length (24.25" from the top of the back collar to the bottom of the hem) falls just below the hip. The width across the bust including the gusseted under arm is approximately 19". As you can see from the stock photo as well as the ones I have submitted that the entire top allows for ease of movement due to the articulated features in all aspects of construction. The fabric has a hard outer finish with a very low pile fleece interior that insulates and wicks well during differing degrees of activity. The color is depicted well in the stock photo. The photos I provided appeared to be more gray. I consider the color to be a subtle blue spruce. It coordinates well with the variety of natural colors that comprise my casual and outdoor wear. For the purpose of this review I used the base layer under a lightweight backpack and jacket, as was necessary, during a 10 mile Ice Age Trail hike. The temperature averaged about 50 degrees with sunny, cloudy, and rainy conditions. My personal body temperature remained comfortable throughout the trek. I anticipate that I will be able to use this as a 3-season base layer, and maybe 4 depending on the weather conditions. I am impressed and pleased with the quality of construction, material, and performance.
I've worn this top so much over the last month or so. It is really my "go-to" for outdoor activities. I took it on a trip to Paris in November and loved having it as an extra layer under my sweater and coat. I didn't get too hot in it and was always warm. I've worn it on lots of hikes and find that it really helps regulate my temperature or just keeps me warm and cozy while on the trail.I love the color blocked style with the lighter blue sleeves. I've worn this under a vest with jeans as well...just for a casual day around town. This is really such a versatile and classic top to have in my closet. I can see wearing it for years and years. It washes up like new and barely looks like I've worn it (and I have worn it well over a dozen times).
Love this shirt so much. I'm 5'3" and 125 lbs, and have a size XS. I don't typically like the feeling of tight clothes but I'm thrilled with the fit of this shirt. It widens a bit at the waste, so it doesn't give you that clingy feeling around the stomach that a lot of other base layers give. It's a very subtle blue/gray, so it matches with everything, but there's a slight color focal on the sleeve that brightens it up a bit if I am wearing it solo. The fabric is AMAZING. So incredibly soft and has never given me that itchy feeling some tight clothes give. The inside of it almost feels like fleece, but it doesn't trap the moisture like fleece does. I love everything about this shirt! (Ignore the wet marks in the photo, it was actively snowing when I took the picture!) I think this shirt would be great for skiing because of how well it moves with your body, and because it won't trap the moisture for the lift ride up after you've worked up a bit of a sweat on the way down.
My first impressions when opening the package were, I love the color (boxcar), this feels wonderful, and I bet this base layer is warm. I tested it fall camping near a big lake with temperatures expected to get down to about 40F overnight. I woke up before sunrise and was fine in my sleeping bag but could tell it was cold outside. The first thing I reached for was this top. I stepped out of my tent to light in the east, temperature about 42F, and stream fog rising off the lake that was about 58F. I made a quick breakfast and watched the sunrise while sitting on a big rock overlooking our bay. I had a vest over the top and did not think about the temperature at all. The material is stretchy, felt like it has excellent moisture management as I later walked along the ... MoreMy first impressions when opening the package were, I love the color (boxcar), this feels wonderful, and I bet this base layer is warm. The material is stretchy, felt like it has excellent moisture management as I later walked along the edge of the lake.I don't like wearing items that have big logos on the front or the back or brand names (why would I pay to advertise for a company?). This has a small Arc’teryx logo on the left sleeve and I actually like that detail.I am both curvy and very muscular, so clothing sizing is always a challenge. I feel like I am often between a large and an extra-large (if you go by my measurements for this particular item, XL would be the closest). I got the large and this is described as having a trim fit. It did look trim initially picking it up, but it fit me very well as a base layer. If I got the extra-large, I might where it to work in the winter. I am quite happy with the sizing. I like the neck, which combines the aesthetic of a V-neck with the coverage of a crew neck.
I used this in CO this fall - as a base layer for sub zero days when we got the first snow of the season, and as my only layer going for runs in some cold fall weather. (And I admit to sometimes wearing it around the house because I don't want to take it off, too.) It's fleece lined, which means it feels like a cloud and I never want to take it off, but also it's somehow more lightweight and breathable than I expected. Even wearing it for multiple days' worth of activities, it still smelled fine. Usually in winter for snowshoeing and xc skiing I stick to merino wool as a base layer because it's so odor-resistant, but this is now going to be a part of my regular rotation. It is form-fitting but not too much so, so it's comfortable with other layers on top.
