Arctic Ice 1205 Tundra Series Freezer Pack (2.5 lbs)

(74 reviews)

ARCTIC ICE Tundra Series has a very unique freezing point of 5F and is designed to help maintain a consistent freezer temperature in coolers. While not as cold as dry ice, ARCTIC ICE Tundra Series can be used as a suitable replacement - it has been shown to maintain frozen temperatures for days in controlled testing. Due to its low freezing point, ARCTIC ICE Tundra Series can take from 18-36 hours to freeze, depending on the temperature of freezer and number of panels being frozen. To ensure ARCTIC ICE Tundra Series panels are frozen, the freezer should be turned to its lowest setting or at least 0F. It is recommended that ARCTIC ICE Tundra Series be used to maintain frozen goods, such as ice cream, meats, fish, etc. Use weight equivalent to dry ice normally used for great, reusable results. Store panels in freezer so they are ready when needed. ARCTIC ICE Tundra Series panels are also top rack dishwasher safe! ARCTIC ICE uses non-toxic, high performance phase change materials, or PCMs, to keep cooler temperatures anywhere from ice cold to frozen. Each panel is ruggedly designed with expanded surface area to provide exceptional cooling capacity and efficiency. Spin welded seals keep our panels leak free for a lifetime of use. ARCTIC ICE products are warrantied against defects from workmanship for life.

Well built and I’m happy with them. I don’t think they will ever leak out. I don’t know why they have several freeze points (tundra,Alaskan/and chill) cause they all seem to melt at about the same rate. But they work great without the ice mess. I have 8 large and 2 extra large and I keep 1/2 in my fishing cooler and 1/2 in my freezer and swap them out ever 2 days . Seems to work perfectly for my drink and food. I use them in my RTIC/yeti and orca coolers. Seem to work way better in the orca . Orca has thicker insulation and airtight seal. Yes I would recommend as a solo to keep cool temps and to extend the life of regular ice as well.

This is a lot better then man brand Y. I use brand “Y” coolers just because not Becuse they’re better and these fit perfectly. 3 XL blocks in a 65 series cooler with ice keeps ice cream and everything frozen solids for 3 days. Yes, you need to turn your freezer on high to get it frozen. The complainers that say it doesn’t work didn’t read the directions as this product needs to be colder than freezing to get it solid.

Have used various sizes of these packs. Larger ones do extremely well in any decent cooler. Unintentionally froze items next to one during drive from Northern KY to Southern FL and the pack was essentially still 'solid'. That larger pack performed at least another full day w/o needing to be refrozen. Smaller packs have given same great cold performance, times till refreeze required being reduced proportionately of course. Two smaller packs have kept ice creame solid in a small cooler for a couple hours. Best packs I've used so far.

Gets much colder than most ice packs

This ice pack is not for you if you intend on daily use. It takes 2-3 days to freeze solid. If you need a daily use ice pack, the "chillin brew" series from the same manufacturer is more suitable, it'll freeze solid in a few hours. I own both, in med and large sizes. For a weekend use ice pack, this product is exceptional. It gets much colder than others, bottles of water placed next to it in my rotomolded cooler, will partially freeze in a couple of hours.

Good cooling

The medium size looks small compared to other ice packs but it packs a punch. Remember that it is intended to keep items frozen not cool. I inadvertently froze carrots and deli meat placed adjacent to it on my first use on a three hour drive—but what it also appropriately did do was keep pints of ice cream frozen. Having said that, I followed all the recommendations for use —“pre- cooling” my well insulated cooler and other suggestions for maximizing effectiveness. It does take awhile to freeze at the recommended -5 degrees. I also liked that using these blocks I don’t have to drain the cooler from the mess of melted ice

Ice + arctic ice is a winner
8 August 2023

I just went on a camping trip for 4 days. I put 2 of the xxl in the bottom of my cooler. Once i got home i still had ice. I had to brake up the ice to pull the ice packs out. My mother is 75 and said that the ice packs do not help . Well after this trip she is changing her mind. She is to old to admit she was wrong . It’s funny how people don’t want to move forward on from old ways.

Impressive

Finally got a chance to use 2- 5lb Tundra Series. Had them on top of s completely full older Coleman 48qt. cooler. After 5 hours they were still rock hard and everything was very cold. Used 1 Tundra the next day in a soft sided cooler for 4 hours. The chicken salad was partially frozen, the water and fruit were super cold. Have a longer trip coming soon. I think these are the best ice substitute on the market.

Not Impressed!

Quite expensive with only comparative "cold maintenence" to any of the cheaper versions. After being kept at 1 for weeks, I put two small ones in a small cooler with pre-frozen Feeder Rodents, drove 40 miles, and by the time I got to my destination they were already become liquid again. I expected them to remain frozen after reading the company hype, and was really quite disappointed in their performance. I suggest buying a cheaper ice pack and get same (predictable) performance for much less money.

Standard freezer? Buy according to size.

These, in their various sizes, are great for overnight cooler packing. No food drowning in water in the morning, very compact, easy to chill and fit in the cooler. Another brand I had bloated up like frozen water in a plastic bottle in the freezer. Haven't had the chance yet to put them to the summer camping test, but I will buy several more by then. I love the different sizes and temperature tolerances, even if I can only freeze them so much (I have no deep freezer).

Works great.

The pack is a great size to fit in my medium capacity cold storage portable shopping container. Freezing the artic pack solid took about 8 hours from out of the delivery box into my refrigerator freezing section (which I keep at 1 degree F). Does fine keeping temperature down for a container full of frozen products for hours on end.
