The Heavy Vapours Single Malt Scotch is another fantastic expression from Ardbeg. Heavy Vapours refers to the exclusion of the Purifier (used to catch the heaviest vapours from the distillation process). Without the Purifier, the distillation includes heavier vapours than the typical Ardbeg usually does. This ensures a heavier peat presence balancing the floral fruitiness. Ardbeg claims it to be their most full-blown expression with an intensity of flavour not seen before. This experiment took place some 12 years ago, so this makes it around 11 years old and was only conducted in one batch.Flavour profile includes pungent earthiness, wisps of Dark Chocolate, aniseed and cinnamon. Includes the usual sootiness, salted caramel and brine. The Ardbeg Heavy Vapours Single Malt is bottled at 46% and is non chill-filtered, it is also lighter in colour than the usual Ardbeg.
