was initially happy with the look and performance of this light - unfortunately after only about 6 months the light malfunctioned after a storm and hasn't been able to be reset and is basically on full time. Have much cheaper sensor lights in a few locations at home which didn't suffer the same fate.

Only lasted a few months then fizzled out. Sensor didn’t work properly, light was about 10% of what it was at new, LED burnt out (went blackish). Was correctly installed under eaves out of weather. Not worth all the effort installing.

Bought around 8 months ago and it was working perfectly after being set up correctly. Then suddenly only emits a low glow when activated. Removed from the wall and there appears to be moisture behind the LED lens. Bunnings in their usual “too easy” style, jumped to exchange the faulty item. Let’s hope the new one last a bit longer…….

This was used on the upstairs (covered) deck pointing at the driveway. Blowing rain could reach it but direct downfall couldn't as it was protected by the eaves. Nevertheless water has entered somehow with heavy vapour inside that has caused the LED's to weakly glow and flicker and is basically scrap now. Products across the range of this brand seem to get a lot of poor reviews.
I have the low glow issue as well. After reading the other reviews looks like water ingress. We have another under a carport working fine so maybe just not fit to be exposed in the elements.
First one failed after 6 months. Ie kept turning on at any time regardless of settings. Purchased another and 4 months later after first rain the light us very dim. Obviously water ingress. Not buying another one. I didn't think Arlec was this bad.
Ok, so I reviewed it negatively 3 months ago. Played with it a little more. Realised my screen door was a tad too close to the sensor which affected it of course. And it’s been out there through all that rain we had and still working. A couple times it’s come on during the day and wouldn’t turn off until I manually unplugged it. (Weird, I do have fluctuating power due to old wiring,) but if it didn’t do that I’d give it 5 stars. So now it’s been 5 months. It does work to the range advertised. It’s very bright for my doggies to get up and down the stairs. I’d recommend it.
It was a risk buying a product with no user-serviceable or replicable components, but I was hoping the fully-integrated design meant a longer life... Unfortunately not. The product lasted a short time and the light becomes dim and flickers.
I bought this tonight as a replacement for the arlec MAL351 that also failed it stayed half on all the time. And as soon as this was plugged in and it got dark it just continued to switch on and off repeatedly I change settings and it never helped at all. The electrical circuit is fine and everything else on it is running as it should. It was plugged into a brand new surge buster as well. And after reading over reviews on arlec lights I think I’ll return this light tomorrow night and replace it with a better brand of light. Arlec is obviously not as good as it used to be.
I'm an avid GC device user. All but the motion sensors (Grid Connect) work flawlessly. That goes for this light. I have it setup to illuminate my front pathway. Setup on a schedule or on its own..either way, Brilliant. Had it quite a while now and had absolutely no issues. Highly recommended.
