I spent a lengthy amount of time comparing different doorbells and camera systems, and am so glad that I decided to go with Arlo. Setup was easy, connectivity is great, and the batteries last pretty long. I just make sure that I charge them during the day when I at home. Charging takes a couple of hours for me. We have two doorbells - one is wired - and that one of course is nice to not have to charge. The video clarity is amazing. I love the large view that the doorbells and cameras have! I absolutely LOVE these cameras. I tried to Google nest first and hated them, they were complicated to set up, and I tried some no name brand wired ones that were okay, but these are my favorite out of everything I've tried. The setup was soooo easy, they connected to my phone instantly for the smart piece, and for putting it on your wall... It doesn't matter if you place it slightly off from where you wanted (since I'm terrible at making), because (1) the view is such a wide angle, it gets both my living room and dining room which are decently sized in one shot it's so wide and (2) because the arm is adjustable! When you buy a security system you are buying peace of mind. Knowing that you have eyes around if you need. Arlo IMO does not provide that.The system was clunky to configure. It worked well on a subscription - you get one free when you sign up, but you can record locally. We moved to local storage and found adding this and pointing the cameras to it was difficult.One of our cameras will sometimes not pick up intrusion.The advanced features available in the cloud are not available without a subscription so you just get a basic motion detection camera. Which for the price is pretty lame.They pushed out a firmware update to our network (1 hub 5 cameras in a suburb home in QLD). and now 2 of our cameras dont recognise if they are on wifi and we get an error ... MoreWhen you buy a security system you are buying peace of mind. YOu can setup a VPN or something but you would need to be in IT to work that out somehow. I dont know anyone that can do that.The design of the system is beautiful. That is the only good part.Im really disappointed that unless you want to pay for a subscription and get good quality motion tetection, that uses AI to tell you whats going on etc then these are pretty basic and rather expensive.Its upsetting we cant remote in when away to see our recordings.

During the day, you get bombarded and at night you’re lucky if it sees you and notifies you.

They charge above market pricing vs competition due to this feature. Fast forward not even 6 years later they notify customers that the product support will be phased out, including the cloud storage. At the beginning of January 2023 they gave us a 3-month period to scramble for alternatives. They ask you to pay for upgrades that are not necessary at all. If not, the product become bricks. Due to overwhelming criticism they have pushed the deadline back for another few months. This is not the kind of company that you should trust to protect your assets.
