Arlo 3 pro works good when it works. After having it for a few month's, the base light turn yellow and we have to unplug it once or twice a week to reset it and its Becomming more often now days. We have had the system for several years now. Apparently, the cameras sensors are not working all the time. My wife was attacked by pit bulls at the mailbox and arlo didn't record and i checked the base and the light was blue, so it not the base this time. Looking back, the sensors not picking me up going to work for 3 days. We are replacing the cameras with a different system now. We paid an obsorberant amount for the cameras because we wanted a good system but we were wrong getting this one.

This is the worst purchase I’ve ever made, don’t waste your time and money. We had issues with the device as soon as we took it out of the box. It will not work at all when it gets the least bit cold. It sat inside turned off for 6 months because it won’t work in the winter and during the first rainstorm it shorted out and no longer works. We’ve had it for under a year. Alongside that, it’s useless if you don’t pay a stupid amount of money for a subscription once the free trial ends. Again, find a different camera, this is not worth the money

It also comes with 3 months free Arlo cloud storage trial which is necessary in order to monitor the system when you are away from your home wi-fi. Since this is something that I absolutely require, I will be paying $10/month for the cloud service. Nothing really prevents someone from walking up and stealing a camera or two; this is another reason to have the cloud because even if the entire system is disabled or stolen, you would at least have images of the thief on the cloud. Arming the cameras only at night oronly when you are away is probably a good strategy to save the batteries. The other morning the front door camera picked up a stunning 2K video of a blackbird in full flight. We live in an area frequented by deer, bears and other furry neighbors. We hope the camera in the back yard will show us some of that action! Oh, I should also mention that each camera can have up to a 160 degree field of view..it's amazing how much coverage a single camera can provide. The system is expandable to accommodate additional cameras. Arlo was recommended to us by our country sheriff's department.

I received one charger with my three cameras, but whatever, if I only had to charge them every couple of months that wouldn't be an issue. But I have to charge them constantly. That is not hyperbole. When I first got the cameras the factory charge lasted a few weeks. OK, sure, I didn't expect a full charge out of the box. But that initial period was the longest time they ever held a charge. The first time I personally charged them, they lasted another couple weeks (those keeping track may notice this part in the timeline is, conveniently enough, about where return period expired). I have to charge my Xbox controller less than that and I use that thing every day. But let's talk about the other aspects of this camera system, shall we? The base station crashes, a lot. At least once a week the status light will start blinking red, sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for an hour, sometimes until you manually power cycle it a few times. The app of course tells you nothing because it can't connect. When it does work, you have to deal with the app. I use the Android version, and it is one of the worst apps I've ever seen. If you try to pull up the live feed, it will take usually at least 30 seconds to a minute, and then you might get a video feed, or you might get a black screen with audio only. By the time you get it working (if you get it working) whatever you were trying to see is probably gone. Plus there's a variable lag in the live feed of about 10-30 seconds, so you can forget about using the microphone and speaker for any conversational purposes. If you rely on the alerts, you'll get plenty, but they're largely worthless. Aside from that the fact that the recordings don't start until the algos grind for a while (missing the start, or potentially all, of the action), what they do record is mostly garbage. I've seen Arlo "detect" people when it sees my dog, windchimes, rustling leaves, and occasionally nothing at all. And the "package" detection can only be enabled on one camera of the three because reasons, I guess? By the way, if you click on a notification (which seemingly randomly includes a screenshot or not) it will just try to load the buggy live feed instead of the recorded clip. If you click it right away, it might not even have that clip in the recording library yet. And since all recordings are detection based, any continuous motion (such as hanging out in the backyard like one does in the summer) will result in an endless stream of short clips and dozens of push notifications. If you think you can solve this problem by just recording a continuous feed, turning off the notifications, and scrolling through the timeline to see what happened, then you would be sadly mistaken. While a timeline button is displayed in the app, clicking it will just tell you that A) you need to pay extra for that feature (you can't hide the button if you don't want to pay for it), and even if you do pay for it, B) you can't use that feature unless the camera is permanently plugged in. If I wanted a wired camera system, I wouldn't have bought a wireless one! Oh, and one final tidbit, the "full color night vision" they advertise just means they turn on the light. Actual night-vision is still grayscale. Overall, Arlo has failed to create a viable camera system in virtually every possible way. Maybe if the batteries worked it would qualify as a good-enough, you-get-what-you-pay-for, low-budget security system, but as it stands I would have been better off just mounting a couple of fake cameras for the look of it.

Unfortunately, they've gotten greedy and that isn't included with models like the Arlo 3. However, you can still do local storage, which I set up to a 2TB Western Digital Elements hdd, which seems to be working great. It's not a convenient, but it should work out ok for our needs. The cameras themselves are nice and the video quality is great, particularly if you set up to run them on power adapters instead of batteries. In addition to pushing their subscription service, they seem to also be pushing accessories. I found 3rd party compatible power adapters on Amazon for a reasonable price. I discovered that Arlo quality and customer service are suboptimal. After installing our first set, one camera was not functioning. Rather than send one camera back, we had to dis install and send it all back. The next set’s charger didn’t work, so, rather than send that set back, we bought one online. One camera took hours to get to operate after lots of varied attempts but eventually did. Today, when the free subscription ran out, we were left with only live streaming. To get much more, you have to pay for a subscription. If I knew what a lousy company this was upfront, I would never have purchased.
Hardware-wise, the units are nice. Batteries come out of the box 50% charged. I'm not impressed that the cameras only come with one charging cable and it's a short one at that. It comes with one each of two different styles of mount. The magnetic mount is great for indoors and locations where you won't worry about it walking off. The screw on mount is okay... but without a long cable for charging, pulling it down would be a hassle. It would have been nice if it came with a couple of plastic stands to just hold them upright but whatever. Minor annoyances aside, it is what it is, hardware is overall nice.As far as software, this is where my disappoint really grew. Installation was quite simple, a few screws and viola, the housing is attached to the house. The rechargeable flood light snaps in tight, push it in and listen for the click and you are all set. The app allows you to determine what areas you would like to be alerted about, which is great so you aren't getting alerts everytime someone drives by. The spot light only comes on in the dark and only when there is motion detected within the alert parameter. The only con that I have found is that while my husband and I both have the ability to watch the videos at the same time, only one of us can view it live at a ...
