Arlo SmartHub (VMB4540-100AUS)

I bought the hub to match the Arlo Ultra 2 cam connects simply with a one button pad approach and also easy to connect to house fibre wifi. I bought a 2TB external HDD too but the hub seems unable to format this for use on the Ultra system maybe it's the same with all external HDD so resorted to a 128GB USB thumb drive and that worked fine. All motion detected videos stored locally to the USB drive and able to access the videos (MP4 format)via smart phone Arlo app or web login.

Good to be able to get hub without additional camera's so could utilise some now unused cameras at a different site.Set up is simple and all working well, with 2 sites operating fine on the arlo app.

Arli Pro 4 spotlight camera

If you don’t have good internet then it won’t record anything. You have to buy a subscription for each camera or a base station. Base station doesn’t allow you to set the activity zones only a subscription does.

Arlo Camera & Hub

I purchased this Hub for the purpose of recording activity from my cameras direct to the Hub via a usb stick. However it appears this cannot be done unless a monthly subscription is also paid for. So for an outlay of approx $900 for 2 cameras and the Hub I still can't record. Would have been nice to know this from the beginning. Information on the systems full scope and functionality is extremely to source.

Arlo hub

Does what it says it does though short on information and specifications. Better connectivity for the price would be nice like WiFi, it’s cable connected only to your main router. Other port options or at least certain and stable ability to use any external HDD’s would be great rather than the flaky note that says see drive manufacturer. Pretty crappy user info.Ultimately this thing isn’t really useful, it doesn’t actually do much that the subscription service doesn’t do anyway. The only thing it is essential for is connecting the camera system to Apple HomeKit if you want it. You can’t connect cameras to HomeKit any other way and cameras that don’t support the hub don’t support HomeKit (wireless video doorbell).

Better than previous model

Much improved on the previous earlier model base station which used to disconnect from cameras quite regularly

It works but do not rely on it for security.

Easy to setup and avoids subscription costs for cloud but recording reliability is very poor. Recordings that happen using cloud don’t happen with Hub. Same with sensitivity, previous things that would trigger recordings on say 75-80% sensitivity, don’t record even when on 100% sensitivity when storing to hub. Spam advertisements to your email and pop ups in the app promoting cloud that didn’t occur before are really annoying too.

Not a simple as first thought but worth it

Good to have local storage but you need to go to Arlo site to manage your subscription. Also need to adjust some settings on your network to be able to access the data outside of your wifi. Not entirely easy but worth it

Replacement Arlo hub

Bought to replace original unit bought with cameras which lasted until just out of warranty. It works but subscription required for access to video storage otherwise a external usb storage is the only option.

Waste of money

I first bought the Arlo cameras but was disappointed I had to pay for a subscription. Then I bought the hub thinking it would do the same job as the subscription only to find out the hub isn't as good at retrieving the cameras footage.
