Using as a splitter to feed zones and a subwoofer in a camper. Works as expected. I wish there were holes to sink screws or bolts for vertical mounting, but it functions great! I haven't found another box to do this very specific function!

I can't say anything bad about this product. If you understand it's capabilities and know it's a passive device, you can appreciate it's versatility. I use one in my production studio to route signals from my audio interface to a monitor amp, headphone amp and small FM transmitter. I use another one for field recording, to pad signals from my mixer to my Zoom recorder. The real frosting on the cake is the ability to control inputs and outputs from two different sources at the same time. It has that many I/Os. My only wish would be to have RCA jacks instead of TRS. That would increase the size however. At the end of the day, It's a masterful design and provides flawless control. This is one of my favorite ART supplies. This is perfect for a mobile musician. I use it to route a keyboard, acoustic guitar, and electric cello into my Boss ME-80 for live looping. Since all of my equipment (keyboard, keyboard amp, Me-80, all run on batteries), this little device is exactly what I needed. The unit is small enough to fit on top of my keyboard so it makes it easy to control levels while performing. True, there is a drop in volume, but you can counter that with simply raising the volume controls on the ART (or on the instruments) to compensate. Great find! Love this little guy because it means I didn't have to buy a pricey DC field mixer.
I needed to route line audio to 3 devices. This is plug and play. You will see appx. 12 dB loss through the device but that should be easy to overcome. This is a passive device - no wall wart needed. I'd buy it again.
This splitter is great. Altho something a techguy like me can prolly do myself, but to get a mould like that, for the price, it can't be beat! Options of the ins & outs are a plus. No noise at all as it is passive, there is no difference in sound plugging this from my main mix out. Bought 2units for me to have more expansion just in case somebody wants to tap my main mix for some audio recording. All in all, am happy about it...very!
Art comes through again. This device is perfect. I lUse it to plug 4 devices into my portable speaker. This is exactly what I needed. It does drop the output by approximately 12db. Keep that in mind. Talk to a professional about what you need before buying this with the wrong expectations. The only bad reviews are because of a lack of knowledge.
This little device has done a great job! Plug and play and all has worked great. Splitting one audio source throughout our building and going in to multiple types of controllers, has done a great job!
The Art Split Mix 4 is nothing less than ingenious. This thing is an amazing problem solver. Any negative comments can only come from those who do not fully understand this device. I purchased one about a year ago for the purpose of splitting a main system output three ways. I needed one stereo bus to feed a monitor power amp, one to a headphone amp and another to a home FM transmitter. That left me with one open stereo channel. I recently developed the need for a conveniently placed master level control for two tube preamps feeding the computer interface. I discovered then, the extra stereo channels could be used for that purpose; while at the same time the other three stereo channels are used for routing. I discovered then, the extra stereo channels could be used for that purpose; while at the same time the other three stereo channels are used for routing. In short the configuration possibilities are endless. The Art Split Mix 4 is completely passive. It not only requires no power, it can't possibly introduce any noise or distortion. Signal loss is absolutely minimal. It's like having a patch bay with level controls. The only possible improvement would be a variety jacks. The jacks are limited to TRS so you need Y connectors to divide the connections between stereo channels. However, adding options would probably make the layout more complicated. It is very compact, solid and extremely handy. You have what amounts to eight unbalanced or four balanced channels which can be routed any way necessary and controlled at your finger tips. I think ART is a company that's extremely under-rated. That's not to say there's no recognition. I'm just surprised there isn't a stronger image as the Swiss Army of audio. ART manufactures so many devices which easily qualify for that status. I have a number of such devices which I refer to as my ART supplies. I hope I don't seem overly enthusiastic. I believe credit goes where it's deserved.
This seems like a great little device. It can mix in up to four signals, or split out up to 4 signals. From what I've read it can't do both because it actually has a third mode - passthrough. If you plug into both the mixer and splitter in the same position it passes the signal directly though from one to the other. So you can mix 4 split 0, or mix 2 split 2, mix 3 passthough 1 etc. I've only tried it using the mixer. Many have already mentioned this but it bears restating, this is a passive mixer that will introduce a -12db drop in output signal. For most consumer electronics, the output will be too low to use directly out to speakers or headphones. I paired it with an ART HeadAmp4 (also available from B&H) and I am completely happy with the results. Of course, I ... MoreThis seems like a great little device.
